I think that Lasers is a classic rap album. Way up there with The Cool and Food and Liquor. Catchy tunes and great lyrics make this an amazing album to have. I dont see why everyone complains about this album, it may have a mainstream mix in it but Lupe makes it works. My favorite track is Never Forget You

ok... @spokesman that was one of the dumbest things I ever heard... If you take what every rapper says ilterally, then Hip-Hop would be a horrible shallow type of music.. and Lupe Fiasco would not have a career.. He basis his lyricism on double entendres or double meanings of things.. ex. daydreaming... and This is a good, not great album... The content and lyricism is definately there still.. But the beats r much more pop inspired.. To be honest... Lupe is a genius.. He now has an album that was number 1, and that can be played in clubs and radio... furthering his point of only needing a good hook and dance beat to be number 1... BUT with that spotlight this album is getting because the beats and general sound is so radio friendly.. He is using that to have more people hear his message and lyricism, which is still blasted on every song... Good album(not great, but definately really good).. which will set up for an amazing album in the future which more people will tune into because of this album... He's a genius.

I personally loved this album. I didn't really listen to Lupe much before I heard all this hype about his new album. Checked his stuff, and was hooked.
I think alot of the songs are catchy and people should really enjoy the music. The lyrics are what caught my attention big time. He has this message in every song and delivers it so hard on every track.
He honestly needs more respect in the game and he deserves it.
Great album Lupe

I didn't see Lupe's album as a 'club/radio' friendly album. If you payed attention to the message it stressed the opposite. Tracks such as State Run Radio and All Black Everything for example are not club/radio tracks. They actually are in opposition to the current, visible view towards music (essentially hip hop) that looks to represent the majority. Certain songs also expressed opposition to the way modern music is having an influence on the world. One of the key messages in my opinion was that more people should express themselves and their views more so that it isn't up to a few artists represent the group of listeners who desire more from music. You also have to remember that there is only certain things you can say from Lupe's perspective that are going to seem over-the-top compared to the rest of the ideas floating around out there or overly dramatic. Granted, there might be a few handful of people willing to listen to that type of album, it's not what is necessary to get his central ideas across. There's a time and a place to say certain things and he said just enough to get people's minds working. He's promoting peace and thoughtfulness. However, to be completely honest, I may only listen to two of the tracks off Lasers and then call it a day. I, myself prefer something I can listen to repetitively over-and-over again (not saying those tracks I listen to over and over again don't carry substance but they have a broad message that you can apply to different areas of your life. Lupe zones-in on a specific area or topic so that the song is JUST about that single thing. People will agree with me of course and claim that you can apply it to other aspects of life but its "CENTRAL MESSAGE" is about one thing in particular.*sigh for the non-believers out there, I will provide an example. Take Eminem's track Till I Collapse. That track is deep and has substance and talks a wide range of things, but you can apply it to so many aspects of your life. Try working out to All Black Everything. Not saying that it isn't a good track, but it doesn't carry the same, how do I say this, energy as Em's track. of course, it wasn't made for that but I think people wished Lupe went more for the throat rather than dance around the serious stuff and keep a diplomatic stance. If you look at his approach though, it represents where the world is going today and the goals it wishes to reach. It's not always necessary to go to the throat. Sometimes you need to clarify things). Most of Lupe's tracks lose their 'umph' after the first listen because he clarifies everything so well and speaks plainly as to not confuse the listener too much of his intentions. He did not leave a lot up for debate (like a Kanye who flats out and syas he sold his soul to the devil and expect people to associate his blatant confession as a figment of his so 'famous and popular' personality and simply take it as a joke. I, myself wasn't laughing. Sounded pretty serious to me and you do expect people to take what you say as what you mean if you call yourself a 'real rapper' and a 'real person' all the time. But it seems at times that that's just me. like Lupe said, "..keeping it real is not an understood concept.")and basically laid out his views plain and clear. After the first listen if your not sitting there thinking, "Man, Lupe really went out on a limb with that one." then I don't know what to say to you. I do understand if some people don't fully agree with each and everyone of his tracks. That's why his it's his music. He does have to remember that he is writing it for the people though and at the end of the day, it's the people that are going to rate and respond to his album, negatively or positively. It seems as if this is one of those "first-time listen and that's all you need"-type of albums. It's sole purpose was to deliver a message and wake people up to issues facing the world today that differ from those generally showed on the news each day. It's all in how you wish to perceive each track but I do agree this isn't comparable to any other album out right now. Lupe really went out on a limb with this one and I have to applaud him for sharing his views and his merits, things that usually go unsaid or unnoticed in other artists' music. Overall, Lasers deserved a good rating because it was a well-thought out album and it was far from being horrendous in my opinion.

I know I wrote a lot but I am a huge Lupe supporter so I felt like I should do my best to offer a second review on the album and how it had an affect on me. ( Break The Chain is the best track in my opinion.)

4.6 out of 5? You have got to be kidding me. This is, by far, Lupe Fiasco's WORST studio album. The production is horrendous. The record label obviously had a huge dealing in what made the final cut. Seems like they're aiming for this album to be a lot more 'radio and club' friendly, and that's exactly what they got - a heavily synthesized, sugary sweet, autotuned sung chorus laced hip pop album ready for dispurse to the massses.

Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE Lupe fan, ..I couldn't WAIT for Lasers to finally drop, and when it finally did I was first in line at my Best Buy to buy it. But as I made my way through the album, track after traack my giddiness and jubilance wore off and my frustration level peaked. How dare they make us loyal fans wait in eager anticipation for this club friendly dribble?

Now, the album isn't all bad. If you can navigate your way through the mess that this album is and pay attention to the lyrics (because in all honesty, thats what its all about), Lupe's message is still quite clear and prevalent. Be seen, be heard, don't be a conformist, don't trust the media or politics, and the sky is the limit. He hasn't lost his way with words by any means, so thats a plus. A few tracks I reccommend listening to are - words I never said, the show goes on, beautiful lasers and all black everything (by FAR my favorite)

Look, if you're a die-hard biased Lupe fan, then you've probably already stopped reading my review to tell me how wrong that I am and Lupe is the greatest. No point in trying to change your minds.

But to my unbiased Lupe fans, I say buy this album merely to support the artist that is Lupe Fiasco so that we continue to get more BETTER albums in the future. But don't expect anything close to Food & Liquor or The Cool. This album gets two thumbs down from this very very disappointed fan.

Keep your heads up though, Lupe has already stated that his next album is going to have nothing but hard tracks on it...I mean, we have no idea when that'll be, but in the mean time we'll just have to take this loss with a grain of salt and wait impatiently for his next project.

WE LOVE YOU LUPE, NO DISRESPECT MAN!

But to my unbiased Lupe fans, I say buy this album merely to support the artist that is Lupe Fiasco so that we continue to get more BETTER albums in the future. But don’t expect anything close to Food & Liquor or The Cool. This album gets two thumbs down from this very very disappointed fan.

Keep your heads up though, Lupe has already stated that his next album is going to have nothing but hard tracks on it…I mean, we have no idea when that’ll be, but in the mean time we’ll just have to take this loss with a grain of salt and wait impatiently for his next project.

WE LOVE YOU LUPE, NO DISRESPECT MAN!

I didn't say it was a review, when I write reviews it says this is a editorial review. It's simply a description taken from Wikipedia who content is under creative commons licence. It's the whole reason why that site even exist.

It's up to the readers to write their own reviews on the album, do you have a review or not?

Good job copying Wikipedia. You know because I really could not go to Wikipedia to read the review. Really, how hard is it to write a review?
