Boog Brown was named to iTunes Best New Hip-Hop Artists alongside Nicki Minaj, Drake, B.O.B., now she is getting ready to release a follow up to the smash hit debut album produced by Apollo Brown. December 20th a full length redux entitled The Brown Study Remixes will be released on cd and digitally by Mello Music Group featuring all new production, bonus tracks, and cover art. This is a purely collector’s edition pairing Boog with some of the undergrounds most noteworthy producers. To get people ready, Boog is giving away the first single, UPS, remixed by DTMD‘s beatsmith Dunc. Enjoy the song!
UPS gets the treatment from DTMD‘s prodcuer Dunc. The 22 year old Maryland producer (Diamond District “The Shining“) is getting some pretty big praise after first producing the classic joint “The Shining” on Diamond District’s “In The Ruff” and then releasing his debut album with partner in rhyme Toine as DTMD “Makin’ Dollas” – one of the biggest rookie albums of the fall season. Dunc brought a new sound to the table for Boog, with this track utlizing gliding synths with some heavy kicks and snare samples. Underneath it Dunc laid some heavy subharmonic synthbass to compliment the drums, and from there added some tremeloed ambient sound synths to fill things in. Meanwhile Boog Brown spits two thick verses as slick as anyone in the game today, utilizing clever allusions to forgotten pop culture, “Got outta my dreams and into my car, I’m Ocean” and straightforward challenges to any takers: “So come and get it if u tough enough to f**k with it / U cant touch this grind, this shine ni&&a / So keep ya day job we mobbin thru to take ours. What…”
Continuing to work her debut project, Brown Study, Boog Brown has brought in some of the best producers in Hip-Hop to remix her debut album including Georgia Anne Muldrow (producer for Erykah Badu, Mos Def), and 14 KT (Red Bull Big Tune Champion 2010), as well as an all new music with Apollo Brown. The album went through numerous incarnations looking for the perfect sound that would stand alone as a complete album, something that 6 months later Boog has accomplished. She also enlisted fellow Atlanta artistCraig “Flux” Singleton to create new cover art. The new full length remix project will be released December 20th on cd and digitally via Mello Music Group.
