Drake: Chris Brown is Insecure Because I Make Better Music & I’m More Poppin Than Him

Drake finally reveals how he feels about the whole situation with him and Chris Brown and to a certain extent, Rihanna. We all already knew the beef was over RiRi even though they tried to play it off early but not it's totally clear. He doesn't want the media to ask him about C Breezy at all, and he doesn't like the fact that in every interview Chris Brown always gets asked about him. Drizzy feels they're feeding off Chris Brown's insecurities. According to Drake:

"Don't ask me sh*t about that man when I come up there and leave that man alone. Stop preying on his insecurities, his insecurities are the fact that I make better music than him, that I’m more popping than him and that at one point in life the woman that he loves fell into my lap, I did what a real n***a would do and treated her with respect." Although we don't need anymore proof that this beef is over Rihanna, the New York Daily news reported this week that Brown's bodyguard Patrick Strickland has filed a lawsuit against both artists over the injuries he sustained at W.i.P. last June, claiming the fight broke out after Drake sent Brown a note state, "I'm f**king the love of your life."

I feel this will get worse before it gets any better, Chris Brown happened to tweet "Lol" right after Drake's interview aired. So Drake feels he's making better music than Chris, so I guess there's only one question left to ask. Who's making better music, Drake or Chris Brown?

Joe Budden & His Crew Attack Consequence In Retaliation!

After Consequence tweeted earlier today that he smacked Joe Budden at the Love & Hip Hop Reunion filming, Joe quickly retaliated with a good ole fashion beat down.....Gangnam Style. I'll do you one better, there is footage and we all appreciate some good beat down footage. Prior to the video above Joe had called up Angie Martinez to talk about Consequence hitting him and then getting hit by Tahiry, judging by the timeline this beat down minutes after the phone call below. Joe explained that this is all stemming from when he stepped to him about a month ago at a Hot97 interview, where Consequence punked out. Consequence more than likely felt soft after all the reaction from Hip Hop fans, and probably felt he had something to prove.

Consequence Smacks Joe Budden At Love & Hip Hop Reunion Show

After a full season of drama, reality TV reunion shows seem to be a sure recipe for disaster. At the Love & Hip Hop New York reunion show taped earlier today, warring cast mates Consequence and Joe Budden took their differences to the next level. Consequence reportedly smacked Joe Budden and ran during a break, though not before also getting snuffed by Tahiry. Consequence revealed the surprising news when he tweeted:

"Just Smacked The SH*T outta @joebudden at the #LHHReunion Everybody have a Nice day....#QueensAllDay."

Naturally, Budden had his own account of the story, and posted his side to his own Twitter timeline.

"During the break Tahiry & I were headed outside to smoke..Dude came behind, jumped & hit me as I'm walking away, Tahiry snuffs him, he runs....," tweeted Budden. "It was the most pu**y display ever seen from a n*gga to be quite honest...& it's all on tape, so ya'll can see the pu**y sh*t for yourself."

Chris Brown & Drake Sue Each Other Over Nightclub Brawl

Legal shots have finally been exchanged between Chris Brown and Drake over their massive brawl last June at W.i.P. nightclub in NYC, according to TMZ. A French model named Romain Julien filed suit against Brown, Drake, and the club claiming he suffered injuries during the bottle-throwing melee. Now Drake and Brown have filed legal docs pointing the finger at each other. Each entertainer is asking the judge to place the blame on the other. They both claim they weren't responsible for the fight and want the other to pay any damages should the model win his suit. This is the first time since the fight that Drake and Chris Brown have gone after each other in court.

The lyrical showdown between Meek Mill and Cassidy is in full swing, shots were first fired on Twitter 2 months ago when Meek sent out a open end challenge to any rapper who wants to step in the ring with him. Cassidy was one of the many that had something to say, back and forth on Twitter eventually turned into a record from Cassidy called Diary Of A Husler, which was highly speculated to be going at Meek. Cassidy then left no doubts on his next release Me Myself & iPhone on which he dedicated a full verse to Meek. After a few more weeks of Twitter exchanges, Meek Mill finally replies on wax with "Repo" and boy did he go off. As soon as the track started, he immediately checked Cassidy on the "Condom Style" track that many were making fun of on Twitter. French Montana and 50 Cent have been going back and forth ever since French Montana interview with Complex magazine, 50 Cent was the last one to respond by saying French Montana couldn't compete with him on a musical level. Yesterday French revealed a visual for "Only If For A Night" in which he takes some subliminal shots at Fif. French feels he can compete and took to Twitter to fire back at 50, he spoke of 50's latest track titled "My Life" and says that the song is an attempt to save his career, suggesting that 50 is washed up as an artist. French even proposed a challenge to 50, suggesting that they both release their albums on the same day to see who sell more units. He ended off his Tweets by calling 50 Cent an "old man." I'm sure this is far from over.

Need I say more with a headline like that? Apparently Saigon doesn't appreciate the current state of Hip Hop, in a interview on Power 105.1 he singles out Rick Ross and 2 Chainz as 2 of the contributors to the ratchet music movement. He talks about having kids and not wanting them to listen to the bullshit in Hip Hop, and having to search high and low for progressive Hip Hop. I get where he's coming from though most of you are going to write him off as a hate, but there does need to be some balance in Hip Hop. Don't get me wrong, I love the ignorant music just as much as anyone else, but on the other hand I appreciate grown man rap that someone like Nas provides, or the lyrical responsibility artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole uphold. What's your thoughts?

Things ain't all peaches over in "The Money Team" world, 50 Cent took to his Twitter to clear up rumors of internal conflict with his homie Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fif says he's no longer a part of the money team, apparently the boxing partnership with Manny Pacquiáo didn't sit well with Mayweather. It was the first sign that 50 wanted to make other moves due to something not working out with the money team. 50 Cent on Twitter:

Shyne Calls Kendrick Lamar’s Album Trash, Schoolboy Q & Game Respond

So Shyne isn't feeling Kendrick Lamar's "good kid, m.A.A.d city" album and took to Twitter to voice his dissatisfaction. While Tweeting his dislike for the album, fellow TDE member Schoolboy Q stepped in to respond. View the series of tweets from Shyne and Schoolboy Q below. Schoolboy Q wasn't the only West Coaster he got into it with, Game chimed in to tell to leave his homie alone. He didn't stop there, he called up Hot 97 radio station to talk to Cipha Sounds, Rosenberg and K Foxx and defended his comments and explained why he thinks the album is so bad. Shyne states:

I ain’t starting no trouble. Listen, y’all live in the United States of America. We don’t live in the United States of Aftermath, Jimmy Iovine doesn’t pay me, I can say whatever I want. I’m not talking reckless. I said the young boy got potential and I said he was talented, but the album is trash. That’s tough love.

He adds:

Beats is trash, number one. And once your beats are trash, you’re finished because you can’t handle a good flow. I don’t really want to hear what you gotta say. I’ll go buy Dr. Cornel West’s album if I want to hear someone talk.

Shyne feels that people are gassing up Kendrick:

I feel bad for him because everybody’s gassing him right now, everyone’s on him. He on fire because of that Interscope machine, he’s on fire because of that Dr. Dre machine. He’s nice, but that’s a lot of hype. All I’m saying is, to show y’all I’m not a hater, 50 delivered. I never had nothing positive to say about him, but he delivered. He lived up to the hype, Get Rich or Die Trying was a classic.

He continued:

I’ve been in this game since 1997, professionally, and you cant tell me how I’m supposed to come up with my opinion, you could disagree. That’s cool, that’s what democracy is all about, but I’m saying is he didn’t deliver. 50 Cent delivered, Eminem delivered, The Game delivered, Snoop Dogg delivered a great first album, Kendrick Lamar aint do that.

A line from the track claimed Keyshia Cole was sleeping with Diddy while messing with Young Jeezy. "I did a song with Keyshia Cole and I know you still miss her/But Puff was f-cking her while you was falling in love wit' her." Keyshia Cole quickly responded to the claims by saying Gucci only did it to sell mixtapes.

"That ain't my business!! he's lying! its all G tho, Putting all ya trust in some of these "Hood Rappers".. How u gone be a G, and u spreading lies, To sell mix tapes! Where ya talent at?"

She ended it off by saying:

"Basically. Dude ain't have 2 lie tho! could've kept me out of it. I will continue 2 build what I'm working so hard accomplish! I'm married with a child, and don't have no place in that none sense!"

Oh boy, 50 Cent it back on his B.S. again. Yesterday the transcripts to an interview French Montana did with Complex magazine was released, French talked about various topics, one which was beef in Hip Hop which addressed Lil Wayne vs Pusha T and 50 Cent's history of beef in the industry.

"People get scared when you try to beef with people. In general, [even in street shit] nobody want to stand next to you if somebody about to shoot you, unless you have a a big lick [Ed. Note—A "lick" means a hustle.] They [used to] do that with 50 because 50 was the bank. They knew he was going to win. People ain’t doing that [anymore].

Nothing disrespectful was said but apparently 50 Cent didn't think so. 50 Cent's new album is dropping this November, lol....Just saying.

Shots fired! Shyne calls up Cipha, Rosenberg and K.Foxx on Hot 97 to talk about hisrecent Tweets going at Rick Ross and his "The Black Bar Mitzvah" mixtape. He doesn't appreciate Rozay taking advantage of the Jewish culture especially when he's really Jewish, in additional he's disgusted by the fact that Rick Ross was a cop and is now selling us an imaginary life of a Gangster and dope boy. The thing is fans could give two f*cks about the music being real or fake as long as they can rock to it. Most people don't actually think Ross was about that life, and it doesn't matter to them, just keep the hit records coming. Lil Wayne is a Blood and Drug dealer throughout most of his career but we know that's not true because we literally watched him grow up on TV from 15 years old, but again it doesn't matter. Nicki Minaj Takes a Few Shots at Mariah Carey via Twitter

On Tuesday Nicki Mabnaj went off on Mariah Carey on the set of American Idol which was being filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina. The following day TMZ reported that all issues had been resolved, but as it turns out things weren't all squared between the two. Mariah Carey called into The View and spoke to Barbara Walters to explain her side of the story, and what Mariah claimed Nicki said to her has really pissed Nicki off. Nicki claimed that she went off on Mariah because she called Nicki a bitch, but Mariah claims that at some point during the verbal altercation, Nicki threatened to shoot her. Judging from the footage, nothing like that was said, but Mariah insists that Nicki said it. Nicki didn't appreciate the allegations and took her Twitter to jokingly take a few jabs at Mariah. This could all be a publicity stunt for the new season of American Idol.

2012 is the year beef officially returns to Hip Hop, we have us a classic 3 way death match happening right now and the crews involved are G-Unit, MMG and CTE. Over the weekend DJ Drama detailed the events of what went down between Young Jeezy and Rick Ross after the BET Hip Hop 2012 Awards. Below is the footage of what Drama just explained. That wasn't the only scuffle to go down after the awards Gunplay from MMG (Maybach Music Group) caught a beat down from 50 Cent's security. Video clip below. Monday morning Gunplay called up Angela, Charlemagne & Envy on the “The Breakfast Club” morning show, to talk about what took place. An additional interview Gunplay did with TMZ, you know they love to cover black people's fuckry. Even Machine Gun Kelly who wasn't apart of any beef got caught up in the drama. It's cool to see it's not always xoxo with all the rappers but c'mon beefing at award shows? I thought we were off that, not to mention it puts a bad light on the BET Hip Hop Awards which has maintained a good record of being a solid award show. And 50 Cent has no place being close to any of this, you might of been the king of beef for most of your career but you beyond that now. You doing Feed America partnerships, working with UN etc -- on the other side of the pond, you can't be on both sides of it. Choose one, and if your gonna beef at least do it like a boss (no pun intend), why are you sharing the same airspace with Gunplay? You can't be half a gangster Fif.

In a tribute to the late Chris Lighty, long standing Hip Hop rivals 50 Cent and Fat Joe could possibly end up sharing a stage at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards. It's been reported that the 2 are expected to be part of a tribute dedicated to the late music manager, they were both at the funeral but neither addressed each other. In different recent interviews 50 Cent has touched on the current status between him and Fat Joe, and the responses weren't negative. BET's Vice President of Communications Tracy McGraw refused to comment on the rumored tribute, saying:

"That's a good question. I think we'll just go with 'Could not confirm,"

Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott are also expected to take part in the tribute. 50 & Joe were very close with Chris Lighty both in personal and business, so this could be a possibility just on those merits. Thoughts?

On Twitter Roscoe finished off his rant by posting instagram photo evidence, that he in fact did make contributions to Kanye West's intro track "To The World" featuring R. Kelly from the Cruel Summer album. In addition he provided evidence that he also had a role in the making of Lotus Flower Bomb," which features Miguel. Last week on Hot 93.7/Hartford comedian D.L. Hughley bashed Lupe Fiasco for hie stance against voting saying: He’s bright as hell, but dumb in the ways of the world, Young black men are going to listen to him,”

"Young black men are going to listen to him. They are the ones who have decisions made for them, [decisions] that they are not even involved in, which is silly to me."

Lupe Fiasco never backing down from a fight responded in a series of Tweets telling Hughley to put his money where his mouth is:

"Better yet @RealDlHughley you put up 50k and I'll put up 50k and let's flesh out some programs for rural & inner city youths our damn selves"

Lupe Fiasco who in the past has repeatedly expressed his issues with President Obama, says rappers don't play a role in helping the president get re-elected:

"Obama need swing states and white people not radical rappers kissing his ass to win this election."

Well I don't know about that one Lupe, gonna have to disagree with that assessment. Lupe ended off his Tweets by further challenging the comedian:

Pusha T: “We Don’t Give a F*ck What Drake Says”

At the start of September during Jay-Z's "Made in America" festival 2 Chainz came out to perform with his G.O.O.D. Music crew. When it came time for 2 Chainz performance, it was botched due to some miscommunication, because the DJs and artists weren't on the same page when 2 Chainz took the stage, which led to him being out of rhythm for allot of the performance. Later in the festival during the 2nd day Young Money's Drake took the stage to perform a myriad of songs. Just like G.O.O.D. Music he too got some assistance from 2 Chainz, to perform their smash single "No Lie" Unlike G.O.O.D. Music, their performance went well, after which Drake tauntingly says.

"Now, that's how you bring out 2 Chainz!"

Which many took as a shot at G.O.O.D. Music and their set. When Pusha T was asked about the situation, he had some choice words for Drizzy.

"At the end of the day, I guess just speaking on our behalf, we don't give a fuck what Drake says. Like, we don't care. In regards to us, that shit doesn't matter. That's what the fuck we do – we don't give a fuck. So, if that was the way you should've brought 2 Chainz out, then I'm glad Drake got to do it, and I'm glad that Chainz got the look, and I'm sure people were happy. Other than the shot thing, we don't give a fuck. We definitely ain't thinking about no shots."

Lets see if anyone from Young Money will respond. Thoughts?

President Obama Addresses Nicki Minaj’s Mitt Romney Verse: “She Likes to Play Different Characters”

Last week we posted the Lil Wayne & Nicki Minaj "Mercy" freestyle on which Nicki Minaj voiced a bar that that appeared to be in support of that douche bag Mitt Romney (yeah I said it). The line

"I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy b*tches is f*cking up the economy"

The president took a moment to address the line:

“I’m not sure that is actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But, she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.”

President Barack Obama was also asked if his daughters Sasha and Malia listen to Nicki Minaj to which the president responded.

“I don’t think they really listen to Nicki Minaj that much.”

Cool as always. Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to respond to Barack's comments. Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support* @BarackObama And that's that.

Did Drake & Chris Brown Put an End to Their Beef?

It's been reported that Drake & Chris Brown have allegedly squashed the beef, which was originally born from their highly publicized brawl at a Manhattan nightclub back in mid-June. Since then several developments have occurred, including a proposed celeb boxing match between the two, and several lawsuits being filed against the two artists. Both Drizzy and C Breezy have been very silent on the issue, the last incident being Chris taunting some of Young Money members in a night club about a month back but it was never confirmed. Beyond that it doesn't seem to be much of an issue. A source close to Chris Brown made a few statements about Brown's current stance on his beef with Drake.

"That situation already been handled and Chris [has] no beef with [Drake.] We don't think about [him.] Drake who? That club shit was what it was and Chris left that baggage back where it happened."

The two artists are nominated for Best Male Video at the MTV Video Music Awards, and it should make for a interesting scenery when the show airs tonight, but it's been confirmed that Chris would not be attending the awards show. But the source says Chris' non-appearance at the upcoming VMAs has nothing to do with Drake.

"None of what's going on with the VMAs is because of Drake. You can believe that"

Alki David, CEO of FilmOn.TV Networks and Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman have released a joint statement regarding Chris Brown's agreement to enter the ring against Drake that was caught on camera by rumorfix.com. When asked if he would participate in the fight, Brown said, "Yeah, I would. I would." Brown's acceptance of the boxing opportunity comes after David offered to pay the winner of the fight $9 Million Dollars and the loser wins $1 Million.

Update: Drake Didn’t Actually Get Into A Fight with Chris Brown, But His Middle Finger & Curse Words Did Start The Brawl

OK, so now the newest update on the whole Chris Brown vs Drake fight has revealed a few things. So Apparently it has been confirmed by everyone present at the brawl that Drake never got physically involved. However, he did apparently provide the initial spark that started the bottle flying brawl that ensued. Drake allegedly flipped his middle finger to one of Chris Brown's bodyguards and yelled at them, "I'm about to go whoop that ass!" That's when Chris' team fired back with their own verbal shots, middle fingers, and other hand signals. Drake felt some type of disrespect about Chris' team trying to get tough with him, so he then allegedly went and recruited backup from a few of his boys. When Drake's reinforcement showed up, he got at Chris directly by saying, "You be on that hoe shit on Twitter nigga," referencing Chris Brown going back and forth with him on Twitter about who is/has been smashing Rihanna. So now the security guards from both sides, along with both Drake's and Chris' entourages began shoving each other back and forth and that's when the entire brawl erupted in the club. So as far as we know right now, Drake wasn't physically involved but we'll see as more information comes in - as well as both Chris and Drake's version of the story when they tell it to whichever radio station gets to them first. Now, the Young Money superstar is addressing rumors that she planned to stage a mock Lil Kim funeral at the show. Kim tweeted about Minaj planning to bring veteran femcee (and former Kim rival) Foxy Brown onstage and accused Nicki of copying a similar performance recently where Kim brought out Eve and Missy. "I reached out to her a few months ago […] [Foxy Brown] has always been a part of my line up and I’ve known I was doing summer Jam for maybe a year now, so people are very crazy to think that this is something that I just decided to do," Nicki told The Breakfast Club. "I’ve just always really loved her. I’ve always made it known how much I loved her and Lauryn Hill, and so when she found out about the drama, I thought she was going to be disappointed but instead she called me and was like ‘Yo Nick, I am riding with you, we are all here and were not leaving this hotel, we support your decision”, and that was how we all went out. Everyone came out to dinner with me that night and everyone supported the decision. Jacki-O Disses Lil Kim (Calls Her Desperate)

Miami rapper Jacki-O has released a new track, "Bang, Bang," aimed at fellow femcee Lil Kim. The song is apparently a reply to "Clap, Clap;" Lil Kim's track which debuts her new alias "Kimmy Blanco." It's title also references a song by Capone-N-Noreaga called "Bang, Bang," that infamously led to a shootout in 2001 in front of Hot 97. The same shootout that subsequently landed Lil Kim in federal prison for perjury after it was proved that she lied about her knowledge of the incident. Jacki-O has taken exception to Lil Kim's co-opting of Griselda "The Black Widow" Blanco and her image. Blanco is a well-known Columbian drug trafficker and was featured in the documentary "Cocaine Cowboys." Jacki-O has also used Blanco's name, with the blessing of the maven's son, Michael Corleone Blanco.

"Man this b**ch just Jacki-jackin, she improvise more than an italian actor," Jacki raps. "b**ches bout as real as they facial features/making desperate moves is a sign of weakness."

I told you guys from the very beginning of this thing that it was going to have legs and most you said it's done, and here we are 6 months later and it's still going. A few weeks back Young Jeezy was in Miami with a bunch of Crips (CTE) and Jeezy called out Ross more or less saying "Where's Your Favorite Rapper At?" About 2 weeks after that Rick Ross responded to the video saying Jeezy played himself. Says Rick Ross:

“I got to see the footage of him walking on South Beach, down Collins Ave…[Tim: it got a little crazy out there.] Yeah, he played himself. You gotta come cross the bridge to Carol City, Lil’ Haiti, that’s where you get your issues. I mean, Washington Ave? Give me a break…..what’s crazy about that, you can see on that same footage, when they asked about my name, they still don’t really have a direct answer. And that ain’t gangster at all. If you really have an issue put it on the table and handle it like a G. Walking down Collins Ave…You played yourself, you’ll get that took from you.”

In his “Man of the Year” cover issue of The Source magazine, Ross discredits the way Jeezy handled the whole situation as not being G.

Has the phone call between you and Young Jeezy take place yet? Nah. That hasn’t happened. It’s nothing I’m looking forward to. You guys have worked together before. It seemed the camaraderie between you two was genuine. The last summer he put out his own “B.M.F.” freestyle, but told me personally it wasn’t abbot you. Did you feel disrespected? Whatever it’s gonna be, it’s gonna be. If we gonna get money, we gonna get money. If it’s pressure, just put it on the table. I feel no way. I had nothing but love for the homie, but if me getting money in the streets or making music offended you, I can’t help that.

Former drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross could face off against the rapper Rick Ross (William Leonard Roberts II) in court this summer, over the usage of the name “Rick Ross.”

Ross was sentenced to life in prison for attempting to purchase over 100 kilograms of cocaine in 1996 and served 10 years. During his incarceration Miami rapper Rick Ross was just one of the emcees to adopt his name. Ross claims that the Bawse signed a multimillion dollar deal in 2006, based on his image and likeness as a drug dealer.

Rick Ross claims Def Jam ignored cease-and-desist letters sent to their offices. Allhiphop.com is reporting that Ross is planning to sue Def Jam, Universal, William “Rick Ross” Roberts II and others.

As most of you know I'm Jamaican and I take every opportunity to let people know, and every now and then I slip in a Reggae track here and there on the site. For those of you who don't know Mavado & Vybz Kartel are currently two of the biggest Reggae artists. Vybz Kartel is a protege of Beanie Man and Mavado is a protege of Bounty Killer, so it's only natural that they would have issues with each other. Vybz Kartel represents the Gaza set (I'm Gaza by the way) and Movado reps Gully. The war has been going on for a few years now but last year when I went back to Jamaica things got really heated to a point where I even had major disagreements with even close friends. Music and beef in Jamaica is completely different from beef in Hip Hop because of the environment we grow up in. When someone has a problem and a diss record comes out it's not just words they really mean what is said and that eventually lead to violence between the Gaza and Gully people. To a point where the actually Government has to get involved, when have you ever seen that in Hip Hop. So that's why this Peace Treaty is such a big deal because it's gotten this bad time and time again and it will continue but at least this time they calmed it down before things get really crazy, but trust me it won't last that's just the way it is in Jamrock, we're not the murder capital of the world for nothing which is unfortunate. Still Gaza mi seh, dere is a time fi evryting and right now it's a time for peace. Gazaaaaa!!!!!

Dame Dash: “I love Jay, I love Beans – What’s The Reason For Beef?”

Dash’s name has popped up in headlines dealing with Beanie Sigel’s recent lash-out against Jay-Z. During some recent interviews, Beans accused Dash of shady business dealings when the two were putting out the State Property PRO-Keds sneakers.

“Him and the licensee who licensed Roc-A-Wear went behind my back and obtained the license to the company that was licensing PRO-Keds and stopped making the State Property PRO-Keds,” Beans said on Philadelphia radio station Power 99. “It was all geared towards Roc-A-Wear.”

Dame said he did not want to address any specifics regarding Sigel, but did say he did not want any beef.

“I love Jay, I love Beans — what’s the reason for beef?” Dash responded. “That’s stupid. What’s the reason for beef? People die, people don’t feel good — I want people to laugh. What’s up, y’all?”

Dame was shocked to hear Beanie on the radio.

“I was surprised. I was hurt for him, more or less, because I know that ain’t him,” Dash said. “But I don’t want to speak on that. Whatever [Beanie's] going through where he’s got to do that … I could understand where he may look at things and feel that way. I can see that. He’s probably got a lot of people around him and nobody to really tell him what’s going on. It was a different environment for Roc-A-Fella back then. I feel bad for those cats. I love those cats. I hate that they struggle. I hate it. I hate to see anybody struggle. I don’t embrace that. I’m not one of those dudes that get happy when I hear something bad about somebody I had a bond with. I really loved those dudes. You see Ski down there, I knew Ski for 20 years. That’s my man. Sometimes people have different agendas for why they don’t wanna be my friend. But at the end of the day, I’m always there for them.”

Dame Dash just laughs off stories about how he is supposedly in dire straits financially. He gets so much of a kick out of it that he doesn’t rush to defend himself against the rumors. These days, Dame is back where he started, making music independently along with brokering art and producing television.

Dash has a complex in lower Manhattan, DD172, where he has two music studios and an art gallery, and also publishes a magazine and maintains CreativeControl.tv. Mos Def has dubbed the building the “24-7 karate school,” because of all of the artists that come through and work together. Mos, the Black Keys, Jay Electronica, Jim Jones, the RZA, Raekwon the Chef and producer Ski (Reasonable Doubt) to name a few.

Dash says everyone is welcome, just as long as no one brings negativity.

“I’m not teaching violence. No beef! None of that. I don’t have beef with nobody.”

On November 27, Dash releases the first album off of his Blak Roc label — the next LP from the Black Keys, under the name Blakroc. The album features Jim Jones, the RZA, Raekwon the Chef, Mos Def, Q-Tip, Billy Danze and Pharoahe Monch.

I've been saying this for years. I've ran into allot these rappers and believe me it's just music for 90 % of them. I can say for most of my generation (25 and up) that we know the difference but the younger generation really believe the things that these rappers are saying. Now of course when you listen someone like 50 Cent or T.I. talk crazy on records you believe it for the most part because well they have the background to back it up, you can find there whole criminal record on Wikipedia, lol. You can't do the same with Plies or most of these other cats. Rappers look at me and say I'm soft because I run a website when the truth of the matters I grew in one of the worst cities in the world (Kingston) and have been through the legal system more times than I'd like to admit and it wasn't cool or fun. That's the problem is that these rappers make it seem as if it's the life and it's not man. Praises to the real hustlers and those that live it, but it's not to be glorified. What should be glorified is living that lifestyle and then being able to move on to better things. The "Come Up" is what we like to see.

Wow I never thought Fab felt this way, is it a fair statement to say that 50 Cent killed New York rap? Ghostface Blames RZA For Bulletproof Wallets Mix-up

Kids, don’t do drugs. In a recent interview with XXLMag.com Ghostface Killah revealed why “The Sun”—the famed collaboration between him, Slick Rick and Raekwon—was not included on his third solo album, 2001’s Bulletproof Wallets.

According to Tony, the song would have been included on the disc, but Rza misplaced the record that he sampled to create the beat. “Rza got high and couldn’t find the fucking loop,” Ghost explained to XXL. “He couldn’t find where he got the sample from. That’s why it wasn’t on there.”

As die-hard Wu-Tang fans already know, “The Sun” wasn’t the only track that didn’t make Bulletproof’s final cut. “The Watch”—another classic Starks song that listeners were only able to hear on underground mixtapes—wasn’t added to track listing because Barry White didn’t approve the sampling of his, “I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby.” In addition, the original beat for “Flowers,” the collaboration between Ghost, Rae and Method Man on the album, also had to be changed due to sample clearance issues.

If everything would have gone as planned, production issues aside, the Shaolin wordsmith believes the album would have been able to stand up next to his most critically-acclaimed LP, 2000’s Supreme Clientele, as one of his best works. –Jesse Gissen
