“When we were creating the Slaughterhouse album I got a beat from Emile; real talented guy, I love him,” Joe Budden said. “I recorded to it right there on the spot. I planned on using it for The Great Escape but that didn’t happen at the time. So I said let me put this out on Mood Muzik 4. I love the record, I’d love for the fans to hear it.”

According to Budden, despite repeated calls he wasn’t able to reach Emile to get proper permission to use the track but decided to use the record anyway figuring the producer’s consent was a no brainer. It wasn’t until the album was already pressed up, and while Budden was boarding a plane heading overseas, that he finally heard back from Emile, who told him that it was actually Just Blaze that produced the track. So Budden’s reunion with Blaze, who produced the biggest hit, “Pump It Up” from off the rapper’s self-titled first album, was totally unintentional. “In my head I’m like, ‘Am I in the f–king Matrix or some shit?’ ” asked Jumpoff Joe. “I haven’t got a beat from Just Blaze since who knows how long, this can’t be his beat.” Shortly after Blaze’s Twitter tirade the two spoke on the phone and chalked up the situation to a misunderstanding. Budden apologized and was sympathetic to the producer’s concerns. “Just also comes from that school of integrity,” Budden said. “He just wants the music to be heard the way that it’s supposed to be heard.”

An hour later, Kanye pulls up in his Porsche Panamera, fresh from the studio. That’s right, from the studio. During my five days in Hawaii, Kanye never slept at his house, or even in a bed. He would, er, power-nap in a studio chair or couch here and there in 90-minute intervals, working through the night. Engineers remained behind the boards 24 hours a day.

How did you get a drug habit? I had a lot of work done to my teeth. Oral surgery, extractions, six, seven, eight root canals. Between January to February. As soon as I got out, I had a lot of stuff done. In the joint, you eat shit that is unhealthy for you. I had fillings that fell out and stuff that had to get dealt with. Of course for the pain they gave me oxycontin and hydrocodone. And, mind you, on October 13, 2007, I had cut off everything?weed, alcohol. Then I get these pills and I start taking them for the pain at first. And then I’m like, Wait?this shit makes me feel good. And it’s legal. After the pain went away, I kept taking it. I had like five, six prescriptions. So I had, like 80 pills. Everybody else might have a drink or smoke a blunt, I took a pain pill. Times when I had 18, 20-hour days, I’d take a pain pill. And eventually I developed?I guess?the beginning stages of dependence. Have you talked to Eminem about addiction? Sure. We got a record together, and we talked a lot. I asked him how he knew he was an addict. Basically if you put yourself in harm’s way… if you risk that, you’ve got to assume that there is something fundamentally wrong with your thought process.

As Lil Wayne nears the end of his prison stint, the rapper has released one final letter from Rikers Island to the fans that have supported him during his incarceration. In it, the Young Money/Cash Money star thanks everyone for not giving up on him and reflects on his time behind bars.

“As I greet you all in my last days on this island, I must reflect,” the rapper writes. “I think back to when I first arrived and I had no clue of what I’d be experiencing. I was never scared, worried, nor bothered by the situation. For that, I thank God, my family, and you, my amazing fans. I prayed for you all every night, as I’m aware that I was in your prayers as well. The very first day that I received mail, it was about 300 pieces or more! I smiled like a child of Christmas. But when I began to read them, my heart smiled. I laughed with some of you, reasoned with some of you, and even cried with some of you. I responded to as many of you that time would allow. I plan to keep reading and responding after my release.”

“I thank you all for being so very supportive, as I never imagined how much impact my words and life can have. With this knowledge, I vow to continue to be me! Rapper Gucci Mane was arrested by Atlanta police this week over numerous traffic violations. Gucci, born Radric Davis, was apparently pepper sprayed during the incident. He is charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, running a red light or stop sign, damage to government property, obstruction, no license, no proof of insurance and other traffic charges, Atlanta Police spokesman Curtis Davenport told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Officers who arrested Mane, who is also known as Radric Davis, Tuesday reportedly had to use pepper spray to subdue him. He was taken first to Grady Memorial Hospital to be checked before he can be transported to the Fulton County Jail.

Mane’s arrest comes just a few months after he was he was released from the Fulton County Jail for violating his parole. Records show he has been in the Fulton County Jail at least five times since 2005 on drug, aggravated assault or aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.

Eminem has been revealed as a guest performer on Nicki Minaj’s upcoming Pink Friday album. Two of hip hop’s most infamous alter egos, Em’s ‘Slim Shady’ and Minaj’s ‘Roman Zolanski,’ will trade bars on the track “Roman’s Revenge.”

Minaj also revealed that Drake will be appearing on the album during a Ustream session earlier this week. The femcee said that their collaboration one of her favorites.

There have been reports from Mack Maine, Young Money CEO, that Minaj is anxious about her first week sales not living up to expectations. “She was worrying about first week. She was like, ‘Drake sold [463,000]. What you think I’ma sell? As if she gon’ sell less,” recalled Maine. “I explained to her, ‘You know a lot of the press and the media really got it brainwashed with first week sales.’”

TMZ is reporting that T.I. won’t be charged in L.A. drug arrest, but he’s still guilty of parole violation, which is really all the LAPD wanted to accomplished anyway.

According to the D.A.’s Office, they are not going forward with charges because, in essence, he’s already been sentenced to prison since the arrest was a violation of his federal probation.

However, law enforcement sources tell TMZ, there were significant legal issues over probable cause which led to T.I.’s arrest.

Cops claimed they smelled marijuana but no pot was ever booked into evidence. And, we’re told… T.I. was pulled out of his $250,000 Maybach immediately after he made the illegal U-turn and prior to any registration check.

T.I. Gets 11 More Months in Prison, now that’s a title Hip Hop could have done without. Earlier in the year I wrote “Say Good By to Lil Wayne & Hello T.I.” and now it’s in reverse. T.I. is one of my favorite artists but every time this guy takes a step forward he takes two back. It’s a given we all make mistakes and he just got off easy for one of the biggest mistakes of his life, to now go back to the slammer for some silly shit. I guess once bitten isn’t necessarily twice shy. Now his music , career and label will suffer. So much for King Uncaged (chuckle).

T.I. was still on probation for federal weapons charges when he was arrested Sept. 1 on drug charges in Los Angeles. He and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, were taken into custody during a traffic stop in West Hollywood in which deputies said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana from inside the car. They were soon released on bond.

After the arrest, a U.S. probation officer alleged that T.I. committed three violations of his supervised release from prison: possessing ecstasy, testing positive for opiates and associating with a convicted felon. Pannell then ordered T.I. to appear back before him in court on Friday.

TMZ is also reporting that one of the officers from Wednesday’s jumper incident testified on T.I.’s behalf. Of course we all knew that would happen.

TMZ is reporting that Tip assisted the police in talking a suicidal man down from a 22 story high ledge in downtown Atlanta earlier today. I’m going have to file this under “titles I never thought I would write”.

According to TMZ:

It all went down earlier this afternoon — when cops responded to a 911 call about a man who was threatening to jump off a building in downtown Atlanta … the same building where the Ryan Cameron Radio Show is based.

We’re told T.I. heard about the jumper on the radio — and called Ryan Cameron to see if there was anything he could do to help out with the situation.

Ryan Cameron tells us … he told T.I. to roll over to the building, where the rapper met with police and recorded a heartfelt video message which cops then played for the man on the roof.

We’re told after the man saw T.I.’s video he agreed to step off the ledge … and met T.I. in the lobby, where the two were able to talk things out.

Tip’s attorneys will definitely try to use this to work in his favor to keep him out of jail for his latest fuckup incident.

Remember back in 2002 Nas had dropped Lost Tapes? It was big deal back then, and now the sequel is ready to be released, and Def Jam is apparently willing to put it out, but they’re supposedly saying that it won’t count on his deal and that they won’t give him any money, although in the e-mail below addressed to Def Jam’s top execs from Nas, they seemed to have offered him $200k for it. They also allegedly still want all of the benefits that come from releasing a Nas album.

I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog shit on a MAGICAL moment.

You don’t get another Nas recording that doesn’t count against my deal….PERIOD! Keep your bullshit $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain’t many of us. But you know what else he told me he wrote for me? The Alicia Keys song “I’m Ready.” I happen to love the song. I never told anyone that, I hope he won’t get mad that I said that. Any hope of Vince pulling out of the nosedive he’s been on all season were dashed in last night’s season finale of “Entourage” — an episode that was bookended by bags of cocaine.

The finale picks up where last episode left off — Lloyd has found a giant bag of coke at Vince’s house, and everyone’s favorite meal ticket has gone missing. This prompts a flurry of cell-phone acting to locate him. It also leaves Ari in the lurch because Vince agreed to show up at his kid’s little league game. One more reason to be on Mrs. Ari’s s*** list after Ari’s restaurant outburst.

Vince eventually turns up looking dirty and disheveled on the set of Sasha’s latest porn movie (well, the box cover shoot anyway). He demands to meet Sasha’s ex-boyfriend/co-star and makes the inevitable scene about how his girlfriend shouldn’t be having sex with other guys, followed by an ultimatum: do the movie and it’s over. By now it’s obvious Sasha doesn’t respond well to limitations on her behavior.

Drama, meanwhile, has organized an A&E-style intervention for Vince at his mansion. Inattendance are Ari, Eric, Billy Walsh, Drama, Scott and Turtle, who has spent the episode thus far trying unsuccessfully to organize enough investor money to ward off Mark Cuban’s purchase of Avion tequila. When Vince shows, he throws a petulant fit about having his behavior questioned — seven seasons of the entourage enabling him and catering to his every whim aren’t going to be re-written in one scene. “I know you all need me,” Vince says, perhaps understanding for the first time the extent to which his friends have lived off him, but I don’t need you. And with that he’s AWOl again. One note before moving on from the scene: Scott reveals to Eric that he’s enacting a plan to oust Murray, the man who got Eric the job. Eric can join in the coup or be left in the cold.

There’s an overdue realization taking place in Ari’s marriage, too. Mrs. Ari, despite the mansion, the cars and the fancy friends, has discovered what she really wants a husband who doesn’t have a cell phone implanted to his ear and who doesn’t scream at everyone like a lunatic. Ari has a big party planned for her 40th birthday that he hopes will smooth everything over. Despite a suggestion to cancel from guest star John Cleese, Ari pushes forward in typical style. He hires Christina Aguilera to sing, bribes his sister-in-law to get Mrs. Ari out of the house for a few hours and assembles the guests — only to receive a phone call from his wife to inform him that she needs a break and is taking the kids to her mother’s house.

Which brings us to the final moments of season seven. Vince checks into the Roosevelt hotel, where he continues his downward spiral by snorting coke and drinking. He hears about an Eminem party. He goes. He makes a complete ass of himself with Minka Kelly, propositioning her for sex two seconds after introducing himself. That approach may work with trashy groupies but not Derek Jeter’s girlfriend. Drama shows up to take Baby Bro home but it’s too late. When Minka tries to have Vince removed, a fight breaks out and he’s beaten down by Eminem and the beefy security dudes. Looks like Vince won’t be tarting that Peter Berg film anytime soon.

Everyone gathers at the hospital. Vince has the same reaction to this summit as he did the intervention. But he’s not going anywhere. A cop is standing behind him, holding up a bag of coke that clearly belonged to everyone’s favorite move star.

Let’s call this one my dinner with Ari. Make that a completely unhinged Ari. We didn’t see this one coming and its impact was all the better for it. Ari blew up at Amanda Daniels during his quiet-time dinner with Mrs. Ari in front of the Lords of Hollywood on this week’s episode of ‘Entourage.’

Everyone got to see the boorish and sexist behavior of Ari up close as he demeaned Amanda over the release of the Lizzie Grant tapes.

But … Amanda then told Ari that she didn’t release the tapes; a former assistant of Ari who was working for her did and she was in fact working to get NFL deal back on track for Ari. The result is Ari is exposed as a sexist bully in front of Los Angeles and he and his ashamed wife go home separately.

This was a great scene, nicely shot, briskly paced and smartly acted. We loved the cell phone in the bathroom angle, a wonderful homage to ‘The Godfather,’ and the side story with Vince and Sasha was a great build-up to the Ari-Amanda clash. Incidentally, this week’s episode was directed by Kevin Connolly (Eric).

Perhaps the bigger picture here is Ari’s not being able to head an agency on his own. There have been a few tell-tale signs — he often looks more frazzled than usual and there problems in the office, like unpaid checks — but the blowup at Wolfgang’s is a culmination for the volatile Ari. It’s strikes us that maybe Ari doesn’t have quite the right skill set required to run TMA. He needs to be more of a politician instead of a brute, but brutish behavior is all he knows, apparently.

Speaking of brutes, Drama is finally on board with the ‘Johnny’s Bananas’ animated series. He was coaxed along by Eric’s assistant Jennie (Janet Montgomery) this episode, and there seems to be a little chemistry between the two. The scene when Drama finally signs on was nicely played. Drama never realized Phil Yagoda and Lloyd had planned a big presentation to entice him to sign up for the series; he missed his own party, in a way.

We got a few questions answered this week about Alex’s mysterious family friend, Carlos, and why he doesn’t want to immediately move ahead with the marketing of the family’s tequila. His older brother is the majority stockholder and he’s afraid he’ll sell it out of the family. Turtle — who’s looking very buff lately — moved ahead with a meeting with Dallas Mavericks Mark Cuban about the tequila, but this enraged Carlos, who then explained the facts of the family business to Turtle.

Meanwhile, the downward spiral of Vince continues. He’s insisting on getting girlfriend Sasha Grey a role in ‘Air-Walker.’ We’ve nothing against porn stars, but is it really appropriate for an adult film star to have a role in a superhero film? Vince pleaded the case to new ‘Air-Walker’ director Peter Berg, who agrees to test her. Berg is playing himself as a no-nonsense kind of guy, similar to Nick Cassavetes, the director whose strong-arm personality led Vince into this mess in the first place. And when we say mess, we’re referring to the big bag of white powder Lloyd found in Vince’s house at the end of the episode.

Like Drama said, it ain’t baking soda.

Candidate No. 1 is Ari, who has not time to entertain hair-brained schemes because he’s dealing with the personal and professional fallout of Lizziegate. First Jerry Jones of the Cowboys scolds him, and now Mrs. Ari can’t believe her husband said those awful things to his co-workers. Really? This is the same guy who drops homophobic remarks like they’re common prepositions. The guy who was dealmaking during his daughters’ bat mitzvah. The pampered life has a way of dulling the critical senses.

Drama might soon have the millions to invest, if he would only agree to star in Billy Walsh’s animated gorilla project, “Johnny’s Bananas.” Phil Yagoda tells Eric that the network is hot for the idea. But even the long wished for chance to star in his own series can’t convince Drama to play an angry ape, and Eric spends the rest of the episode trying to convince his client otherwise. The Chase brothers need to get out of their own way.
