Lil Wayne will be forced to plead out to a jail term in New York City on Thursday, according to sources with AllHipHop.com.

The rapper is expected to accept an 8-month bid in jail over his alleged involvement with a loaded .40-caliber pistol gun found on his tour bus in 2007 while in New York.

The 27-year-old now faces 15 years in jail for each count of criminal weapons possession and criminal possession of a loaded weapon.

“Wayne is going to plead guilty,” a source close to the case told AllHipHop.com, stressing that this was definitely going to happen. The rapper pleaded not guilty at press time and has yet to make any such public declaration. “The date is coming up and he’s going to do it tomorrow.”

Wayne is rumored to be willing to accept the deal to avoid a long term in jail over the gun. The same source said the term will begin in February of 2010 under the terms of the deal. “If he doesn’t plead, he goes to jail for a long time,” the source said.

“They told him that if he doesn’t plead tomorrow, it will go to trial and then he faces a far longer jail term,” the source continued.

A small amount of DNA may have changed the landscape of the case, according to a report by the Associated Press. There is a “minuscule” amount of the rapper’s DNA on the gun, reports say, and that has strengthened the case for the prosecution.

Another hearing is set to resume tomorrow, where the rapper will reportedly announce his next move.

AllHipHop.com was unable to obtain comment from representatives for Wayne at press time and the rapper didn’t speak to the media at a court date earlier today.

Lil’ Wayne has another trial looming in March over felony drug and weapons charges from a January 2008 police raid.

50 said that just because he’s got a song with a crooning chorus doesn’t mean he’s abandoned a street edge for his upcoming Before I Self Destruct LP.

“Not particularly this song, but the entire project … I meant for it to be a little harder and what I fell in love with about hip-hop and within hip-hop,” Fif said on the song’s video set Saturday. “I accomplished it. Before I Self Destruct is absolutely harder than Get Rich or Die Tryin’ or other projects in between. The Massacre had some real aggressive content on it, but there were other things I wanted to do, like ‘Ryder Music,’ ‘Baltimore Love Thing,’ ‘Build You Up,’ featuring Jamie Foxx. This project [Before I Self Destruct], I kept all of those things out of it. I just made it what I wanted it to be. This album is my album right now. It’s like the prequel to Get Rich — the things I missed on that project.”

Before I Self Destruct is slated for a November 23 release.

Shyne’s team is fighting to stay in the US where his mother and his grandmother live and where they raised him….but it seems like he’s going to have to continue the fight from Belize. Shyne will be released from Immigration custody but will then be deported to Belize soon. He has Harvard Professor Charles Ogletree advocating on his behalf in concert with his legal team. They’re still urging fans to reach out to Governor Patterson’s office to petition for Shyne’s pardon (click here for Paterson’s email and his address) but deportation is imminent.

And what about Shyne’s mental state? Angie says “Shyne is one of the strongest people I know and he’s handling this situation just as I’d expect him to. It must be frustrating for all of his friends and family; he served his time, and keeps getting all these different dates and conflicting information. But he’s a soldier, he’s dealing with it.”

Like I said, it was pretty much a rap after they picked him up as soon as he got out of jail. He might be able to comeback (trust me, it’s been known to happen) but it gonna take a minute.

Floyd “Money” Mayweather is not someone you want to trade blows with — in the ring or over the radio.

As a professional boxer, he has 40 wins under his belt. As a business mogul, Mayweather lives up to his nickname “Money Mayweather” — his last three title fights generated close to $300 million in revenue. And as an entertainer, Mayweather loves to floss.

Boxing and hip-hop fans alike may remember that 50 Cent was a member of Mayweather’s ringside entourage at his 2007 super welterweight fight against Oscar De La Hoya. It was this friendship with 50 that launched Mayweather into an ongoing verbal sparring match with 50’s rival Rick Ross.

When Rick Ross dropped the line, “That Mayweather money looking funny in the light” on the track “Mafia Music” in reference to the rumors that Mayweather allegedly owed the IRS over $6 million, Mayweather understandably took offense. He hit back at Ross in interviews, criticizing Ross’ pre-rap career as a corrections officer, saying, “If I need someone arrested, I’ll call him.” And when the Rick Ross and Triple C’s track “Go” dropped, the war between the two heated up. The video began with Ross saying, “F— Floyd Mayweather,” before continuing to make fun of the sparrer’s IRS problems.

“I just think that when you are on a certain level, you just let things go by,” Mayweather said about the situation. “I’m a fighter. That’s what I do. I’m into contact. He’s a rapper. That’s what he do. The thing I’m gonna do is stay in my lane and let him stay in his lane.”

But it seems Rick Ross might also be a fan of Floyd Mayweather — in fact, Mayweather says Ross was at his 2007 fight against Ricky Hatton. “He paid money to see me … I appreciate the donation from Rick Ross,” Mayweather said.

Nicki Minaj recently taped a freestyle cipher for the 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards with Joe Budden and Wale, but stomping with the boys is nothing new for her. Minaj is on the same team as two of the Hottest MCs in the Game: Lil Wayne and Drake. She’s been finding ways to stick out.

“The Young Money single will officially be out in a week or so,” she said on the BET Hip-Hop Awards red carpet. “My single is slated to come out in November. We already have it, just waiting on the timing.”

Minaj said her official single will not be a street banger from the mixtape she has out now, which has been getting burn in her hometown of NYC.

” ‘I Get Crazy,’ that’s not my official single,” she clarified. “That is a record that was on Beam Me Up Scotty with Wayne. New York has been showing it love. Big up to Hot 97. Everywhere actually has been playing it. But it’s not my official single. [The single] might be a record called ‘Married in the Club. But we’ll see.”

Nicki’s debut LP is still untitled, but the sexy Queens native said the album should be out in the second quarter of 2010. During a recent radio interview, Nicki told Angela Yee she’s also appearing on upcoming songs for Mariah Carey, Usher and Cassie.

Lil Boosie had a chance to get out and promote himself as well as party with his friends Webbie and Young Jeezy during BET Hip-Hop Awards weekend in Atlanta a few days ago. Boosie doesn’t have too much time left before he goes to prison. As part of plea bargain stemming from weapons-possession and drug charges, the Louisiana MC has to take a break from the limelight.

“I gotta go away for, like, 10 months to a year,” Boosie said in ATL. “It’s just a minor setback for a major comeback. I was gonna take ‘em to trial, but I’m not gonna take them to trial. They offered me a deal. In Louisiana, you can’t really win, bruh. So I’m gonna do my year, come back home, step it up even more. I leave on November 9.”

Although Boosie’s latest LP, Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz, was just released last month, he’s already finished his next LP.

“I turned in the album this Tuesday to Warner Bros. It’s gonna be called Free at Last,” he said. “It’ll drop the week I come home. It’s gonna be crazy. Crazy, man.”

Young Jeezy and B.G. appear on the album, but Boosie said most of the tracks feature just him. “I done shot four or five videos already,” he revealed. “We’re gonna pace them as I go in. It’s official.”

Before Free at Last’s run, Superbad is getting its just due. “Missing You” is a strong contender to be that album’s next single.

Drake said, unequivocally, he isn’t dissing Tupac Shakur on “Fear.” He’s just pointing out that he was too young to fully feel the impact of the music icon at the time of his passing.

“I never cried when ‘Pac died,” Drake raps on the song from his So Far Gone EP. “But I probably will when Hov does/ And if my tears hold value, then I would drop one for every single thing he showed us/ And I’ll be standing in a puddle.”

Recently calling in from Toronto, Drake explained his lines.

“A lot of people also sort of don’t understand the meaning of that line,” Drake said. “It’s not necessarily that I don’t love West Coast hip-hop or that I don’t love ‘Pac now that I’m 22, but that line was just said to show how new I am to hip-hop. And like I said, I was 9 when that happened, so it didn’t really affect me. But that song in general was just one of those things that took awhile to finish because it was an opportunity to say a lot of the things on my mind. That always feels good as a rapper, when you can get your thoughts out.”

Young Jeezy made another onstage connection with Young Hov on Saturday night, when the Snowman brought out Jay-Z during the BET Hip-Hop Awards. The following night, Young told MTV News that their performance of “As Real as It Gets” was the setup for an even bigger event, the song’s video.

“Opened up the BET Awards, me and Jay-Z,” Jeezy said on set of Triple C’s and Rick Ross’ new video for “Erryday.” “Shouts out to the homie, man, he stopped through. He was on his way to another show. But that’s what we do. Real ones do real things. I just wanted to do something big for the city. Since the song is on both of our albums, we gonna shoot the video. It’s gonna be crazy. We said, ‘Let’s go ahead and break it in at the BET Awards.’ ”

Jeezy explained that the video is going to display some of their riches. “We just gonna go dumb,” he said. “Call Rick [Ross] up, everybody. [We'll have] cars, watches, blunts, money, just go dumb. Dumm-meeee! That’s what we need to do.”

Jeezy also said he wouldn’t mind doing some more shows with Jay-Z. “I’mma keep it all the way live, homie. At this point in my career, I’m like, whatever, I do this from the heart,” Mr. 17.5 said. “Everything I do is real to me. If it’s some strings and orchestra with it, and we still talking about what we supposed to be talking about, I’m all for it.”

At the Atlanta Civic Center, Young Jeezy — who often has high-profile guests to join him onstage — pulled off a huge move during the BET Hip-Hop Awards, kicking off the show by bringing out surprise guest Jay-Z. Hov and Young opened the show with “As Real As It Gets,” with the two hip-hop heavyweights going back and forth on verses. With the audience on their feet by song’s end, Jeezy said, “Welcome to Atlanta.”

Jay later took home the MVP of the Year award, beating out such popular peers as Lil Wayne and Drake. Hov dedicated his win to Mr. Magic, Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube. “Brooklyn, we did it again,” he said at the conclusion of his brief speech.

Other big winners announced during the show were Drake for Rookie of the Year and DJ AM for DJ of the Year.

Busta Rhymes stood in for the turntable great, who passed away in August. “I’m honored to accept this,” he said. Rhymes also saluted his recently deceased personal DJ, Roc Raida, and pioneer Mr. Magic who formatted his New York radio show with 100 percent hip-hop in the 1980s.

DJ Drama was the house DJ, with DJ Khaled serving as the show’s MC. Mike Epps, the show’s host, did a short stand-up routine as he cracked the mic, clowning on everyone from Lil Mama to Snoop Dogg.

During breaks, BET showed videotaped packages of their now-famous “cypher” rap sessions. DJ Premier played a beat while three sets of MCs rapped. The first set included KRS-One and Wale, while the second set showcased Joe Budden and Nicki Minaj. The rhyme of the night went to Eminem, however — his session included Black Thought and Mos Def. Em hit a rapid-fire flow that addressed everything from sex to Barack Obama.

“I know your eyes is buggin’ on, like, what’s going on — Slaughterhouse, the Unit, D-Block out here, Dipset,” the Talk of New York boasted. “My man Young Money Trav — we got Jersey here, L.A., we got a lot of ‘hoods. Detroit.

“Talk about that new album, man,” Yayo continued, looking in Joe Budden’s direction. ” ‘Cause I picked up that [Slaughterhouse] album. I told [the rest of the group] you should do that ‘Microphone’ joint [onstage].”

“See, man,” Budden cut in.

The New Jersey MC and his counterparts, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5?9? and Crooked I, might have disagreed about their song set for the night’s festivities.

Yayo was adamant, however. “That’s crack, man.”

FABOLOUS: I think that if you were to ask 50 a couple years ago if you were to do a show with those people he would have said no. It was interesting to me. I actually was invited to do the show as well but I had a prior show so I couldn’t make it. He had these hopes up and he had really isolated himself with G-Unit when he first came out. He didn’t mix well with other artists and rappers unless it was Eminem, Dr. Dre, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and whoever was affiliated with him. He use to offer if you wanted to come be with him then you can come be with him and get money but other than that he wouldn’t rock with you. He hasn’t had many collaborations other than on his songs and this is why I found it interesting and out of no where they put together this show with New York rappers and Hip Hop which is great. But it’s kind of this destroy and rebuild situation.

She did seem to be on the brink of tears the entire time, and understandably so. Breakups are never easy, and breaking up in the public eye is even harder. Where did everything go wrong? No one has the answer to this question except the 2 of them, but one thing is certain: Joe Budden does not approve of Tahiry publicizing their breakup and Tahiry can’t understand why he has a problem with it when he says and does whatever he wants.

It looks like Shyne’s homecoming is on hold for the moment. The former Bad Boy rapper (born Jamal Barrow) was scheduled to be released from prison Tuesday (October 6) after serving more than nine years of a 10-year sentence in connection with the 2001 Club New York shooting involving Diddy and Jennifer Lopez. But his release is now under review, as representatives for the rapper revealed to MTV News that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained. “Shyne is currently in federal custody while his future immigration status is determined,” the rep said in a message to MTV News. Shyne attorney Oscar Michelen emphasized to MTV News on Tuesday afternoon that Shyne has not been released, contrary to media reports. In August, a lawyer for Shyne said the rapper was “90 percent of the way home” after a judge ruled on his post-release supervision. The rapper received two and a half years of post-release supervision (probation, essentially) stemming from his conviction on first-degree assault and a host of other lesser charges. At the time of his sentencing, an official with the Department of Correction confirmed to MTV News that Shyne would have to complete at least eight years and seven months of his prison sentence. For years, though, Shyne’s release date has been the subject of much confusion. Michelen acknowledged the subject had become urban legend, as the rumors started yearly that his client would be released. Michelen told MTV News in August that he believed a clerical error led to the incorrect assumptions. “I think [the basis for the rumor] was created by a computer,” he explained, “because the Department of Corrections has a Web site where you can do an inmate lookup. And if you have the information, it will show you that [Shyne's] earlier release date was originally April [of this year] and then June. And we don’t now how that was in there. But it showed that. And then what would happen is before a release date, [an inmate] would get produced before a parole board, and in the institution, there would be rumors that [Shyne] was up for parole. I guess inmates or guards would spread the rumor.” At press time, the status of Shyne’s release from prison remained unclear.

50 Cent looks part demon, part battle-scarred Terminator on the cover of his upcoming LP Before I Self Destruct. “The album cover, I sat there and thought about it,” Fif explained Saturday during his ThisIs50 Music Festival on Governors Island. “I wanted to do something that was completely different than I’ve ever done. The Curtis album, I was pretty close in the camera when I done it. I felt it was intimate. This project is even more [intimate], but it’s harder. I didn’t sugarcoat things. My imperfections are visible on there. I’m in a secure enough space. … It’s a huge gape in hip-hop. There ain’t no middle ground. You’re either here or you’re there. To create the middle ground, the guys that have been up here gotta come down and bring everybody to the forefront where they seen. That’s what this is actually about.” The ThisIs50 Music Festival featured performances by the G-Unit, Cory Gunz, Papoose, Uncle Murda, Maino, the Diplomats, D-Block, Slaughterhouse and Wyclef Jean. Kids, don’t do drugs. In a recent interview with XXLMag.com Ghostface Killah revealed why “The Sun”—the famed collaboration between him, Slick Rick and Raekwon—was not included on his third solo album, 2001’s Bulletproof Wallets.

According to Tony, the song would have been included on the disc, but Rza misplaced the record that he sampled to create the beat. “Rza got high and couldn’t find the fucking loop,” Ghost explained to XXL. “He couldn’t find where he got the sample from. That’s why it wasn’t on there.”

As die-hard Wu-Tang fans already know, “The Sun” wasn’t the only track that didn’t make Bulletproof’s final cut. “The Watch”—another classic Starks song that listeners were only able to hear on underground mixtapes—wasn’t added to track listing because Barry White didn’t approve the sampling of his, “I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby.” In addition, the original beat for “Flowers,” the collaboration between Ghost, Rae and Method Man on the album, also had to be changed due to sample clearance issues.

If everything would have gone as planned, production issues aside, the Shaolin wordsmith believes the album would have been able to stand up next to his most critically-acclaimed LP, 2000’s Supreme Clientele, as one of his best works. –Jesse Gissen

“Magnificent” mixed Ross’ sophisticated thuggin’ with John Legend’s Grammy-winning starpower and vocal luster to make for one of the most heavily spun hits this year. The striking “Mafia Music” was strong enough to ignite a musical and Internet war with G-Unit. While “Maybach Music 2? — featuring T-Pain, Kanye West and Lil’ Wayne — was one of the preeminent posse cuts of the year.

Despite all the controversy surrounding his past as a corrections officer, most of rap’s elite not only kept their embrace of Ross, but they worked with him on mixtapes as well as on his LP. The fans, for the most part, didn’t seem to care either. Deeper Than Rap sold more than 150,000 copies in its first week of release. Although those numbers didn’t quite match the quality of the work, the album did top the Billboard albums chart — a feat all three of Ross’ albums have accomplished.

How else could he bring out Kanye West and Usher during the big Birthday Bash concert in his hometown of Atlanta last summer, and then turn around in 2009 and usher out surprise guests Mary J. Blige and Lil Wayne? And by the way, when Jay-Z decided to perform his earthshaking “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” in concert for the first time anywhere on the globe, he came out during Jeezy’s set at the “Summer Jam” show in New Jersey. And he followed that with a prominent slot on Lil Wayne’s “America’s Most Wanted” tour last summer, which ran for six weeks and was one of the most successful tours of the year thus far.

Nevertheless, he goes on to say that Only Bult 4 Cuban Linx 2 and Blueprint 3 are two of his favorite albums right now and cites both as sources of inspiration. He also comments briefly on Kanye at the VMAs, Kelis and being offered the Def Jam presidency. Finally, he mentions Drake, Lil Wayne and Asher Roth as ?new? artists that he respects.

It would have been great to hear him on Blueprint 3.

“We wanted to make a record that speaks to kids. There’s a couple of lewd words there, but I wanted to make sure that kids heard this record and felt inspired,” Williams told MTV News. “That’s why there’s a little bit of anger to it. There’s anger in his verses, there’s anger in my chorus. That’s why I say spiteful things at the top [of the record]. There’s anger there, because there’s heat. Because you’re young and people are telling you what you can and can’t do. Unacceptable.”

“We did it all by phone,” Williams said. “One-hundred percent. Phone and e-mail. I’ve never done that before in my life. I just sent him the joint, ’cause he beat me up for the whole album. He was just kinda like, ‘I need something to really tell a story.’ And I was like, ‘OK.’ And I sent him this track. I said, ‘I’m sending you clouds with 808s [drums] under it.’ There’s just clouds, and it’s expansive. You can just speak. It’s a blank canvas. Then I sent him the hook and played it for him, and he lost his mind.”

Williams said the song was made the day Jay-Z was mastering his album, and he believes the rapper held off on completing his album until he finished the song. The result, according to Williams, is another classic.

“[Just] the attack on it,” he said of the song. “Ferocious.”

I have to have 14 for 14, or it’s terrible. Not even just a good album, it’s terrible. “I hate, hate, hate that album.” (17:40) I read that you went to go see Shyne and nobody’s asked you about that. Complex: Who was in the studio when you got there?

J. Cole: When I got there, nobody was there but Young Guru. I think he had slept there because he was working on some shit all night. So Guru was the only one there. About 45 minutes later, I see Jay’s security guys come from the studio room. I was like, Damn, how the hell they get in there, ’cause they wasn’t just sitting there. So, they were like, “Yo, J. Cole?” I’m like, “Yeah.” He’s like, “Jay’s ready to see you.” [laughs] I walk into the room, this shit is mad weird. I’m walking on eggshells basically, nervous and excited at the same time. I walk in the studio and Guru is in there, then I look at Jay, I say what’s up, pleasure, nice to see you again. Then I look up and Beyoncé is sitting right there. I’m like, Oh, shit! Damn! “Hello, how you doing? It’s a pleasure, nice to meet you!” Then we sat down, and we got right into it, basically.

Complex: Did he explain what he wanted you to do? Did he give you any guidance with your verse?

J. Cole: Nah. Before we even got to the song, it was like 45 minutes of just playing songs. He started off by saying, “I’m gonna play you two or three songs off the album.” He ended up playing like 10 or 11.

I was really going through the history of it. It’s part of the history… I was actually giving him props. Every single person in that song, I was giving them their time… [Flex: He has a freestyle.] Nah, I think that was already done. No way in the world he could have.. He had that in the tuck. [Flex: You guys aren't moving together with this are you?] Nawwww. You know, he’s a loose cannon. Any given day you could wake up and he’ll start shooting. (29:00) Flex: T-Pain… Have you had a chance to talk to him? [Jay: Naw.] Were you surprised? Yeah I was a little surprised because in all my interviews, I’m sure they’re online. They got kids that do that in 30secs. You can find 8-10 interviews of me saying “I’m not talking about T-Pain, he’s a talented guy.” SEVERAL times. So I don’t buy his explanation. [Flex: Is it timed perfectly, around the week of the album?] I guess so cuz I don’t buy that, there’s no way in the world he didn’t hear that. [Flex: Laughs. Were you aware he was there when he came out on the Summer Jam stage?] I didn’t know he was coming out, for one. I had no idea that was him. The first time I looked I didn’t know who it was. I really didn’t. I’m not being funny, I promise you. [Flex: I think people got in his ear after that.] Yeah. That’s what I believe happened. [Flex: So you haven't had a chance to...] What’s there to talk about. It’s not like a real beef. That’s another thing. There’s too much talking. “We squashing a fake beef?” Like we have a real problem. Then we shouldn’t be talking on the radio at all. There’s no real problem so what is there to squash. [Flex: Do you get tired of it?] I know the people get tired of it. They have to. The people just want to hear great music. If it was few, far and between, then it would be exciting. Now it’s like, “ight man, just put out some music.” (23:50) Flex: Sometimes I look online, and I see Freeway, Peedi Crakk, and other Roc-A-Fella artists saying “Oh, Hov didn’t call me” or “Hov didn’t tell me he wasn’t doing the Roc anymore..” How do you feel when you see those things online? It’s difficult because I’ve done so much for them… I gave everybody a shot. Everybody got a chance to sit at the table and make something. So whether you parlayed that into something or let that go away. You know, that’s pretty much on you. So if I’m not doing anything tomorrow or the next day, you should be cool with that. [Flex: Do they reach out sometimes?] Yeah, yeah. I still speak to Freeway and Chris. More than anybody else. Chris first, then Freeway. Shoutout to Freeway, he was sick the other day. (41:30) Flex: Roc Nation, what’s the next thing we’ll see on the label? The next two artists we’re grooming, who you’ll probably see first are, J. Cole and a girl by the name of Rita Ora.
