After giving us the incredible FutureSex/LoveSounds album, JT vanished from the music scene only rarely showing up for a hook here and there, he went on to have a very successful acting career and even owns part of MySpace now (Ironic since he played Sean Parker in The Social Network movie who co-founded Facebook). Even with all the success, people have been patiently waiting for the original Justin to return to his roots. Well it's finally happened, Timberlake restarts his music career in 2013 with a brand new single entitled "Suit & Tie" and he brought along the biggest name possible, none other than the man himself Jay-Z. And just like the good old days, Timbaland is on the boards. Along with this new single is also the announcement of Justin's third album entitled The 20/20 Experience. VH1 held their annual Divas concert series last night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. They celebrated the careers and legacy of two of the most historic divas in Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. They both passed away this year, so the tribute makes perfect sense. Jordan Sparks, Melanie Fiona and Ledsi were picked to perform Whitney’s classic hits while Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson and Adam Lambert performed in honor of Donna Summer. Other performances included Ciara performing Billie Jean and Got Me Good, Metric, Pitbull, Natasha Bedingfield, Iggy Azalea, Bootsy Collins and Miley Cyrus.

It was brought up in a interview, where someone said they heard Joe bumping a Lil Wayne collaboration in his whip. I've been checking for the track ever since, and now it's finally arrived. "She Don't Put It Down Like You" features a verse from Lil Wayne & Tank on the hook, with T-Minus on the boards. A beat like this is begging for a Drake verse, he shines on these type of records. Nonetheless it's a pretty hot track, and just in case you were wondering Joe killed Wayne on this.

The switch came while Pinks was on a two-year hiatus from music and engaging in artistic soul searching. Focused on chiseling a more true-to-self-position, the name Nemo seems to not only humanizes the artist, but manages to tell a compelling story. As a life-long member of the disabled community -- faced with cerebral palsy since birth -- the artist found parallels in Disney's lovable animated-character. The boy with the "bad fin" resonated loudly and brought him back to his adolescent struggles. Keri Hilson has faced a bit of a backlash following the release of her sexually-charged video for the single "The Way You Love Me." The explicit version of the song hit the Internet last week and the public has been divided in its response to the racy imagery and raunchy lyrics, I was actually just having this conversation with two females the other day, and you should already know what they thought about it. Rick Ross weighs in controversy by coming Keri Hilson's defense. "When I got the record, I most definitely knew she was going to another level and I was excited for her," Ross told MTV News. "I love to see the creative side. She's a sexy female and I think she showed that. When I think of Janet Jackson when I was coming up and she was doing her Control thing, I loved it. So if that's the feeling that young people [are getting] or whoever is feeling the music, if that's the inspiration they get, I think it's dope." Everybody just need to calm down and take a step back, the video wasn't that crazy. There's been much more raunchy music videos than that, I think it's just because it's Keri Hilson doing it that's the real issue because it's a complete 360 from who Keri was on her last album. If there’s any argument I get into over and over again with DJBooth Nation, it’s over who has the best beard in rap (how could you not go Freeway?!?). But if there’s another argument I get into over and over, it’s the importance of context when listening to music. Should we consider only the notes pulsing through our headphones, or the whole life of the artist, in all its glories and faults? Of course I think it’s impossible to listen to music in a vacuum, and I’m right. Music exists in the world, as part of the world, and you can’t separate an album from the circumstances it was created in any more than you can separate the link between a parentand a child. Case in point; T.I.’s new album, No Mercy.

Lexilex Review: A Different Me

When Keyshia Cole named her album A Different Me, she definitely prepared her fans for a shift in music. While still riding on the wave of hit singles such as Heaven Sent and I Remember, Keyshia sat down with mega producers such as Polo Da Don, Dallas Austin, Ron Fair, and the Trackmasters to co-write her third solo effort. She even invited her best friend Monica, the legendary Tupac and Nas to appear on the album. However, for most Keyshia Cole fans, this is definitely a different side of Keyshia that most weren’t expecting.

With songs such as Play Your Cards Right, Keyshia experiences a different taste in music. Although it appears that Keyshia wants to be in love, wanting to take her time, it also appears as if Keyshia just threw this song onto the album just because she felt like it was a long and overdue single to be released. On Make Me Over, Keyshia is asking for her man to make her over, almost sampling Tina Turner’s song I want to be made over. Even though the track has a funky DC/Maryland Go-Go sounding beat, it’s not enough for me to want to continue to listen to the album. With You Complete Me, and Brand New it seems as though Keyshia’s co-writers finally find her voice as she nails this record with all sincerity. However, with songs such as Beautiful Music and Where this Could End Up, I’m left wondering if this is Keyshia Cole or Paula Abdul’s album that I am listening to.

Overall, fans will be left disappointed with this different side of Keyshia Cole. This album definitely lacks the more sensual and sexy, yet feisty side of Keyshia that most fans are used to. This album definitely reflects the communal efforts put into rushing this album; it doesn’t seem fully representative of Keyshia’s abilities as an artist and writer. Perhaps this album will grow on fans but it is definitely one to purchase as time goes on. I’m not sure what side of Keyshia the producers were going for, but this side of Keyshia needs to not be exposed to her fans.

With all of the greatest disappointments of the world, I give her album two out of five stars.

Lexilex WTF: Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear!

(Atlanta, GA) – As a resident of Atlanta, I am all too familiar with how 65% to 70% of the population pretends to be someone they are not. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the people in Atlanta are doing really well; you have a lot of people doing very well in their prospective careers. However, you still have a lot of people who are still faking it until they make it. This includes several members of the cast of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Throughout this show, viewers from all around the country have been conned into believing that these women have something serious going on. However, it has been revealed by numerous of sources that there have been many lies within this so called “reality show”. We have been conned into believing that that these women have stacks on deck and are just living it up like there is no tomorrow. However, it has been revealed that my personal favorite NeNe Leakes has been evicted from her Duluth home; which is the same home that has been featured on the show. Her B.F.F. Kim Zolaic was written into the script to add adversity; there is no such man as a ‘Big Poppa’ (a.k.a. Lee Najir) – which means she never bought that Cadillac Escalade. (Before the show finished taping, their relationship ended). Nor does she have a singing career in the making with mega producer Dallas Austin. However, Kim does live in the very nice townhouse shown in the show. Furthermore, Sheree Whitfield’s finances are not as lavish as reported either. The uptight and sadistic diva is known for bouncing checks throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area as she travels and shops with her entourage of people. Unsurprisingly, Sheree was also evicted from her home seen in the show. Lisa Wu-Hartwell recently filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy and is known for having several alias such as Sharron M. Wu and Sharon Lisa Sweat (after her previous marriage to Keith Sweat whom she has two kids).

Now, don’t get me wrong; I’m all about doing well and having things to represent your success. However, prior to their show I have never heard of any of these women (aside from Sheree’s check bouncing through Lenox Square Mall). It seems like the only women who have something legitimate is DeShawn Snow, who is working diligently to get the DeShawn Snow Foundation up and running. Ironically, nobody wanted to give DeShawn any play during her fundraiser at the couple’s home. Perhaps these ladies were just jealous because DeShawn’s money is real.

I suppose this show just goes to show you that you cannot believe half of what you see and none of what you read – even when you’re living in the overcrowded city of Atlanta, GA. Everybody who is somebody is linked to somebody else and it is truly six degrees of separation amongst people.

Although all of these ladies are quick to fight the rumors, the fact of the matter is none of these women have it going on as they proclaim. If they did, NeNe wouldn’t have that $30 a bag dry, bridle, and ugly quick weave in her head and Kim’s clip on pieces wouldn’t show every episode.

Be yourself people! Fronting and flodging will get you nowhere accept for on blast for faking it until you make it!

Suge Vs. Kanye

Suge Knight has had an interesting last couple of months. This year alone he has been knocked out in public, filed for bankruptcy, had his company’s assets sold in auctions, accused of beating his girlfriend after leaving a Vegas strip club and charged with assault and drug charges. Early this morning TMZ reported that as a part of Suge Knight’s bankruptcy, filed on October 30, 2008, Kanye West is at fault for the lose of a 15-caret diamond stud earring that was allegedly stolen from him three years ago. The lawsuit was not only filed against Mr. West, but some of his associates were included as well. As per the lawsuit, Suge is claiming that Kanye West failed to properly secure his 2005 pre-VMA party held in Miami, FL. The party that Knight is referring to is a party in which an unknown suspect shot Knight in the leg.

The damages that knight’s claiming are: being shot in the upper right leg; shattering his bone thus requiring surgery, months of physical therapy, continued mental pain, suffering and loss of income. Suge is also claiming to have lost a $135,000 diamond stud earring during the chaos of being shot. According to Knight the earring was retrieved by a person who declared himself as an employee. This “employee” guaranteed Knight the safe return of his precious earring. Unfortunately for Suge, the earring was not returned. Suge is under the impression that this “employee” worked for Kanye or for one of the others who were included in the the suit.

“It was reasonably foreseeable to defendants that the party would present a dangerous environment with the possibility of weapons (including firearms) being used by or against party guests given the well-known feuds that have at times pitched East Coast rap and hip-hop stars against West Coast rap and hip-hop stars, some of whom would be attending the party with their associates, the lawsuit reads, adding that “certain hip-hop artists who were invited to the party … were known not to be friendly to Mr. Knight.”

Def Jam is having an early release day

Island Def Jam must be feeling the squeeze of the recession because they have decided to push up the album release dates for not one, not two, but three of their major acts.

Kanye West’s 808’s & Heartbreak, Ludacris’ Theater of the Mind and the Killers’ Day & Age are the artists, and albums that are going to have an early release date of Monday November 24, 2008. Rather than the more traditional Tuesday release date, Def Jam chose to drop the albums just a day earlier than scheduled. This was done in an attempt to reach higher sales rates.

The Monday release of these albums will be both digital as well as physical releases. Def Jam may have the right idea here as all three of these albums are showing promising sales. Kanye West’s Love Lock Down hit number three on the Hot 100, Ludacris’ One More Drink Featuring T-Pain is at the number 34^th spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs and the Killers’ Human is number six on the Billboard’s Modern Rock charts.
