New music from my favorite rapper right now Drake featuring Lil Wayne both going in on the Jay-Z’s Ignorant Shit instrumental, I think Drake went in a little more than Drake did but they both had some slick lines.
hahah Only my fellow Canadians will pick up the reference to the Group of 7!
Drake reminds me of Nas on songs like this where he actually tries real hard. They ain’t on the same level but the wordplay is crazy and he has some reaaaall good rhymes when he hits up these old school/soul sample beats! Both him and Nas have a very uniform flow, it duznt really change up but the lyrics make up for it.
Vice versa for lil wayne. His delivery is unreplicated, no matter how weak he can sometimes come on the mic. I like his rhymes on this, his metaphors are elementary as always. Like I always say, the day lil wayne starts sayin more than “I got money, I got swag, I got women, I got cars, no homo, etc.” and puts together some real content, over some resonant beats like this one, I’ll be a believer. And u cant deny thats all that he has ever said in recent memory, every one of his verses can be recycled to any song, cuz it has no relevance to anything. I want to hear shit like Hustla’s Musik from him.
Oh ya and when Drake don’t try hard he sounds more like lil wayne wit a more boring flow. Specially on those young money/wayne type, shallow beats. Listen to Drake’s stuff before he joined lil wayne’s camp, and even some of his stuff off So Far Gone. If THAT Drake is what he puts out on his album Ima cop it. Otherwise its all mixtape fodder.
@ Talent….bra you really need to brush up on your Lil Wayne. If you want some examples of great word play and conscious (deep) songs just let me know. I’ll educate you.
