definitely a dud..the boy was crying over the whole album and it was most definitely below average..im giving it a 2/5. i support the culture HEAVILY and BUY all sorts of hiphop(no downloading for me) my whole point is..this is HIPHOP!! if ur going 2 do r&b, do that..if ur gonna make some tracks for females, make them, but dont 4get us fellas who need to hear some of that flavor that has been forced down our throats..Drake if ur reading this..and i know ur not, get back to putting out the joints of the ppl who actually inspired u..and for the record..u cant sing that well..

Strangely enough, I think this album is good. Although it doesn’t seem as good as what everyone was expecting, his songs seem to have grown on me as I’ve listened to them more and more. What’s even more surprising is that my favourite tracks from the album are ones no one’s mentioned yet: ‘Thank Me Now’, ‘Fancy’ (Feat. Swizz Beatz & T.I.) and ‘Up All Night’ (Feat. Nicki Minaj). But I do see the problem. Drake has released too many singles too fast, which is good for his music, but not for his album. ‘Miss Me’ (Feat. Lil Wayne), ‘Find Your Love’ and ‘Over’ are all great tracks, but since they are all singles I have to remind myself they are from this album and not from before. Even ’9AM in Dallas’ was released on his blog as a freestyle before the album came out, so I didn’t expect that to even be on the album. ‘Light Up’ (Feat. Jay-Z) is another great song, but once again there is a remix of the song featuring Lil Wayne on his blog.

I think it’s real hard for Drizzy fans to say they were kinda disappointed with this album because of the impact he already made with his mixtape and features last year. It’s like if somebody u love committed a crime, and it’s a bunch of evidence proving they did it, u still wouldn’t say they’re guilty, because u love them so much. I’m not sayin Drake’s album is a CRIME lol but it wasn’t a classic like all his fans (including me) were expecting. But he did have 2 classic tracks: Light Up & Unforgettable…. and Show Me a Good Time is another one of my favorites. All the R&B stuff was cool, but I think most of his (non-female) fans would agree that he should’ve rapped more. Overall: 3.8/5

i feel where your coming from, me myself was a fan of his work when he 1st came out, i remember lookin for his shit & all i’d find was Drake&Josh shit lmfao, but yeah i think the reason it was mostly under-rated was because every track was leaked by the time the album even came out so people didn’t look at the album as a whole &instead of seeing it for its variety of flows & tones, they saw a few bangers & just a few songs that sounded like he could have done better. Which he probably could have.

He wrote all that and thats all you came up with @Aubery? lol Drake was set up to fail with all the hype, but I give him all the props because he didn’t fail but put out a strong album. Is it the best Drake album there ever be? No. Is it a classic? No. But the man did what he had to do, get the world on his D*ck and become a full fledged iTunes and Mainstream artist while still sticking to his roots as he shows in 9AM in Dallas. Chozen nailed it, not his best work but he’s just a kid, he will go platinum whether its with this album or in the future. Drake, Kid Cudi, XV, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, and Wale are the upcoming holders of the hip-hop game.

Never thought he was the future of hiphop..sorry, the oldschool cats who are coming out to do music sound way better than this guy or his whole young money group…case in point: krs1/buckshot with Survival Skills, Raekwon with the Purple CD, Eminem with Recovery…you new school dudes are gassed up on something… you say the music is all about hiphop..um, what about lyrical content, flow, pure dopeness… I’m waiting for Pharaohe Monche’s W.A.R. under Duck Down, Sean P (hopefully), and support Bar Exam 3 (Royce!!!), Distant Relatives (Nas/Damian Marley!!) and RPM (Reflection Eternal=Talib and Hi-Tek!!!!)

You know what I think you’re missing Drake’s intention with this album. He’s proven over and over again that he can rap just to rap in songs like “miss me” and his mixtape songs, but I think on this album he wanted to do something more than just rap he wanted to elevate it above regular talking shit that rap is famous for and show that rap can be other things. you can portray other themes with rap.

I bought the album from Target yesterday for $9.99 and I usually get bootlegs at 5 for $20 from a reliable source. So, I didn’t lose too much. I’m a fan of the music and I support the culture. I think we’ve heard so much from Drizzy from SO FAR GONE in FEB of ’09 to all of the videos & features he’s done between then and now. He’s gotten hundreds of video views & thousands of spins on radio stations as if he already has 3 or 4 albums out. I guess you can say we’re all DRAKED-OUT. We’re OVER-SATURATED with his music. We’ve heard too much of his hardcore work. So, for him to drop an R&B slash Jazzy, not really harcore rap LP DEBUT, that’s really mediocre and alot of people WILL DEFINITELY be dissappointed with this 1st album. Especially being that it was LONG-AWAITED. He should’ve came out with an album 6 months ago then, they should’ve dropped that wack a– YOUNG MONEY LP. If he has to go on tour, which he probably will, he could not use tracks strictly off of this LP to keep the crowds going. He would have to use all of his mixtape sh– and his verse from Forever. He could also use some verses from that YOUNG MONEY album. He is definielty very talented, there’s no denying that but, this album rates a 3 or 4 out of 10 on my stat sheet. It wasn’t that good at all. You have to be able to play an album straight through and you can’t do that with THANK ME LATER.

I really liked this album. I can agree with the fact it wasn’t really what I expected. Having those leaks come out a few weeks early kind of (really) hurt the impact it had when first poppin it in a CD player, cause those are the best songs. But from Drizzy this is a good debut, although I was kind of expecting a “college dropout” type blockbuster. The singin is good if your that type of stuff (I dont mind it). But I think one of the best features is Ms Keys on “Fireworks”, because it brings a different type of feeling and sound to the song. He goes hard on (almost) every song, the beats are AMAZING (this is one of the best produced albums in a minute aside from MOTM), and it really feels like he was giving it his best on this one. The problem is he made us wait for too long 4/5
