I’m dissin on NAS. There is no way in you can have half the ear for Rap, and say anyone except Tupac was a better rapper, than Eminem. Nas was certainly is not a better lyrists, cause he still can’t seen find a creative enough way to express what he wants to say without boring me to tears! Em is likely the most creative lyirsts, as able to keep people talking about what he’s saying, or guessing and trying to figure out what he’s saying. He’s like the John Lennon of word play in hip hop! But being a great rap artists today, isn’t just about lyrics. Dude that quick but smooth steady switch in flow on Despicable, and the settling in, after the beat changes, and then the switches afterward, was nothing short of a phenomenal display of talent. It made the hairs on my arms stand up.. I grew up in south central. That alone put him on another level altogether! Personally I’d be interested in knowing the story behind the recording, and whether he knew that beat change was coming. Cuz If you listen closely, he starts a new verse just as it changes, but he doesn’t actually start the switch in flow, till the second line in, after the change, as if it was on the fly. I’ve heard many of the greats live and unlike allot of those one trick pony’s that ppl prop up as being great, like Big pun, twista, can-i-b-tch, Nas, etc.. Em’s got it all, just like Tupac did! It’s his phrasing, it’s where he chooses to put the emphasis in his words, controls his breathing in order to be able push out all that emotion and punctuation, and still maintain the flow and longevity. And the timing of his flow’s with the beats are very interesting and unique, you never get tired of listening to it. It’s like’s he’s developed the best of Tupac, Dr. Dre, and slight touch of the Beastie Boys for interest, and mesh them all together. Nas’s flow not only lasks interests sometimes it sounds sloppy. Em is raw, personal, open, and honest. He lets everyone know all the good, bad, and ugly about him. And people can relate, or see themselves in him, and love him more as a result. But one of the biggest differences between Em, and 99 percent of the “signed” artist that were out there in the game, and those that still are, is the emotion he puts into every story. When he spits, it feels like he means every single word down to his core, and that he’s working hard for those big bucks! That’s what Tupac was able to do, he projected the necessary emotion behind his words to tell his story, and you believed he meant every word, and you felt it as well. You can hear the veins popping out the sides of their necks or their laid back, sexy, sarcastic, or humorous, when the story calls for it. I watch Kanye, Jay-z, lil wayne, B o B, or Banks here, and, all hear is laziness, and or lack of creativity in Nas’s case. It’s all one low key, boring story after another, no matter what their saying, its like the story has no meaning to them at all. But at least those guys can be entertaining, and charismatic. Not only does Nas suck at coming up with more creative and interesting lyrics, he’s not an interesting story teller, Does he ever laugh, does he. If he were he’d be more successful, everyone loves a good story teller , And Nas doesn’t seem to be able to entertain or be charismatic either, or he’d be just as successful as Kenya, or 50 cent, Jay-Z. He’s not. Em is truly a unique rapper, and people need to stop trying to compare him to other people, he doesn’t fit in any mold, and It just makes them sound like their one Excedrin short of a full medicine cabinet.
