Kanye West sold another 108k copies of, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” which places him above gold, while Nicki Minaj moves closer to gold with 103k records sold missing the gold mark by about 50,000 units more or less. Nicki Minaj made a bit of history with her debut. Pink Friday had the second best opening for a female rapper in the history of Billboard. Only Lauryn Hill’s 1998 masterpiece The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill fared better. That classic album debut sold 423,000 in 1998–the pre-digital era.
Lil Kim told Nicki Minaj not to say anything to her until her first week sales numbers come back. Well Kim she already beat you in Billboard history and now she’s on her way to being certified gold, I think Nicki’s action are talking doing all the talking for her.

Wasn’t Lauryn’s album technically classified as R&B? I remember reading somewhere that Pink Friday actually holds the record, as far as hip-hop goes, because The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was known and put out as an R&B album. All the Grammys it won was in the R&B category…
