Lil Wayne Even Surprised Himself, Selling Almost 1 Million Copies in His First Week

In this clip from his interview with Angie Martinez back in March, Lil Wayne explains how he thought the platinum-in-one-week experience he had with Carter III was a one time thing and he never expected it to happen again. Up until sometime last week, I felt the same way. Well, the numbers now are in which are 964,000 copies in a week and apparently both myself and Wayne have vastly underestimated the public’s appetite for lousy metaphors mixed with great delivery.

Choze-I have to say, I don’t get the “lousy” metaphors. I think “6’7″ had fantastice metaphors and simile’s. I’d go as far to say he had more high quality word play in that one song than in some albums. The word play in “Nightmares of the Bottom” are also consistently great. I’d say percentage wise maybe 20% were somewhat elementary, but that’s a great percentage. I guess someone would have to tell-me who’s better at that?

Fabolous is the first one that comes to mind, just from mixtapes alone. His lines always go over the common listener’s head.

I concur with Chozen to a point. As for who is just as good (or perhaps better) Wale, Lupe Fiasco, Big Sean, man some may hate but even Trey Songz when he’s rapping. One thing I will say about Wayne, he knows his audience. If he gets too basic he will lose fans like us, but if he gets too complex he’ll lose the masses. So he mixes bull-crap with real rap and gets lost of cash.

SN I think Fabolous is so under rated. Dude sticks to the topic, can tell a story and can pick beats.

I cant believe u clowns talkin about j cole. I cant even believe you’d even compare him to wayne. Clearly u soda pop gangsta’s dont know wtf ur talkin about. Wayne’s lyrics are bar none, waaayyy above almost everyone right now. I mean, wayne is on some “oh damn, he just said that” type shyt and j cole is puttin cats to sleep wit his borin azz. Fabolous is and will always be one of the best. He and wayne are just alike, clever and witty and can kill a beat. Chozen, idk wtf ur talkin about sometimez, duke, it seems u just be typin just to type. And then wtf is that maricon talkin about chino and canibus? Serious, killa? Yo, chino is weak and ll cool j murdered canibus, called him out and canibus disappeared…..underground. And ll cool j is corny most of the time. U just need to stop commenting altogether, son, cuz u sound like a herb, yo…

Wayne sucks Period. His best songs were the 2 songs he wasnt on…Hmmm i wonder why? maybe he didnt want OG niggas killing him on his own shit aka, NAS, BUSTA, BUN B, TECH 9, ANDRE 3000.

And J.cole would murder wayne on a track.while wayne rappin about tree’s and shit cole rappin about life. My nigga you sleepin on cole his music is real, too real for the mainstream to handle. I aint gonna lie he reminds me of 2pac lyrical wise because his lyrics and passion is potent.

You got to be stupid to say that… Honestly. Like wayne intentionally didn’t hop on that track to not get killed… Moron to the fullest. The whole album went hard in the paint. And he killed it. Bit@#!!
