3000 gets sued for 2 million

A local postal worker by the name of Timothy McGee is claiming that he was jipped out of Andre 3000’s, Cartoon’s and Turner Broadcasting’s animated-Emmy-award-winning series: "Class of 3000."

McGee is suing all three parties for a sum of $2 million. According to the Boston Herald McGee stated, “…characters, artwork, storylines [and] concepts” were all originated by him and were to be used for a project titled “The Music Factory.”

The actual law suite states “…the artist known as Andre ‘3000’ Benjamin was credited with the creation, executive production and starring role in ‘Class of 3000.’” The law suit goes on to say, “…the similarities between the expression of Mr. McGee’s work in ‘The Music Factory’ and that of ‘Class of 300’ are sufficiently detailed and pervasive.”

McGee is claiming that he pitched his series to a Cartoon Network executive, Michael Lazzo, in 1997. McGee is saying that his project was rejected, and in 2006 (almost ten years later) “Class of 3000" began to air on Cartoon Network.

“The Carter” coming to a theater near you!

‘Lil Wayne, the man behind The Carter trilogies – “The Carter”, “The Carter II” and “The Cater III”- has provided us with yet another installment of “The Carter”. This addition to the Carter series is a not an album, it’s a documentary. The Documentary focuses on Wayne and is simply titled “The Carter”. The documentary is set to premier in next year’s Sundance Film Festival. The festival is taking place January 15-25, 2009.

“The Carter” was directed by Adam Bhala Lough. Lough, better known for his film “The Upsetter: The Life and Times of Lee ‘Scratch Perry”, directed the film in a way that takes an deep look at the fine details that make Dwayne "'Lil Wayne" Carter Jr. "The best rapper alive."

The film will debut during a Sundance event titled, “Park City at Midnight.” According to the Sundance Film Festival web site, the event in which the documentary will debut features the most shocking of all of the Sundance films. “Park City at Midnight” is also the last of all the Sundance events. They are known for saving the best films for last.

5-0 looking for DMX!

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s office is awarding a $5,000.00 cash reward for any information on rapper DMX.

DMX currently has a bench warrant out for his arrest in Arizona’s Maricopa, County. The Bench warrant was issued on Friday December 5, 2008 for failing to make an appearance at his scheduled court date. D is facing drug, identity theft and animal cruelty charges.

When the warrant was issued, the judge ruled that X must post a $120,000 cash bond. Otherwise, he will have no choice but to stay in jail.

According to D’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, the rapper is presently in rehab at an undisclosed location. Cohen stated that DMX was told to show the judge the documentation proving he is currently staying in rehab, apparently DMX failed to do so.

Kanye plans on leaving Hip-Hop

Kanye West told the press that he was planning on taking time off from his music career to pursue a fashion internship. It is very well known that Kanye West is the self proclaimed “Louis Vuitton Don.” He is hoping to intern at his most idled fashion label, Louis Vuitton. He also mention possibly interning for a good friend of his, Belgian designer, Raf Simon.

“I wanna make music and I like to perform. I like that, but I really like to design.” Mr. West stated to the Associated Press in November. He went on to say, “I’m going to take an internship with something and just do something that’s like completely normal, and just rap on the weekends or something.”

This would not be West’s first venture in the world of fashion. Kanye and fellow artist Takashi Murakami, together, have been working on a jewelry collection. West has also been working on his mens shoes line for Louis Vuitton, in addition to his very own clothing line titled, Past Tell, which is set to debut in stores sometime next year.

‘Lil Wayne’s Carter III gets the most Grammy nominations

‘Lil Wayne triumphs yet again. At last night’s the Grammy nomination concert, it was announced that ‘Lil Wayne’s Carter III received eight Grammy nominations. Wayne received m ore nominations than any other artist who was nominated this year.

Trailing behind Weezy are Cold Play with Seven nominations; followed by none other than Jay-Z, Kanye West and Ne-Yo with six nominations.

As per MTV, Lupe Fiasco and T.I. where also nominated for best new artist.

R.I.P MC Breed

West coast rapper Mc Breed, better known for his collaboration with Tu-pac on “I Gotta Get Mine,” has passed away in his sleep on Saturday.

The 36 year old Flint, Michigan native visited the hospital in September for kidney failure. While in the hospital back in September he was on life support for two days before he recovered. In an interviewed while the hospital Breed stated,

“The doctor told me my kidney was insulted and stopped filtering what I was taking in,”

Breed was in the process of working on his new album. According to MTV news he planned on calling it “Mc Breed - The Original Swag” MTV news states that his album was going to include collaboration from Too-Short, Erotic D and Ant Banks among others.

The cause of death has yet to be determined.

Remy Ma keeps her fingers crossed for an early release

Remy Ma is ready to get out of the slammer. Her lawyers have filed an appeal on her eight-year prison sentence for shooting a woman in the abdominal out side of a New York City night club at the beginning of 2008.

Remy Ma has stuck to her story, which is that she shot that woman accidently. According to Remy’s lawyers, the judge made several mistakes while Ma was on trail. Due to the discrepancies made by the judge, Remy Ma’s lawyers are requesting for her to be released in time for the holidays.

T-Pain calls out the JOCKERS

T-Pain is sick and tired of the bitters who are continuously biting, and not paying up for it! At the end of the “I can’t believe it” remix, T-Pain states that the auto tune is almost up. He’s referring to the other artist such as Ron Browz, who according to Pain has used the Auto Tune effect poorly.

T-Pain credited Diddy for being professional enough to give Pain royalties for the use of the auto tune for an up-and-coming project.

"Diddy actually gave me royalties on this album just for using auto-tune. He signed the contract and everything. If I can do that with Diddy, somebody else better be signing something. It's Diddy. He didn't have to involve me at all. ... I'm writing and producing on his album, and he gave me extra royalties on top of that for using something I just brought back."

It seems as if T-Pain means business, and wants to start seeing some sort of compensation. Don’t be surprised if he starts to sue all the people who have used the auto tune effect. FYI: the auto tune was not even originated by T-Pain, he’s crediting himself for bringing it back. We’re going to have to wait and see how this one is going to play out.

Diddy, a Federal Prosecutor?

Diddy is putting his acting shoes back on. He has signed on to guest star in two episodes of the CBS crime drama CSI: Miami. The episode will air in mid to late winter. According to CBS Diddy is set to play a federal prosecutor who does not get along with the police Lt. Horatio Cane, played by David Caruso.

Diddy, who did surprisingly well in the ABC made for TV movie version of Raisin in the Sun, is expected to do just well in his role on CSI.

Nelly who already has a reoccurring role on CSI: New York is also set to reappear on that show sometime at the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009.

In the last few weeks Kanye West has been arrest twice. Both times for paparazzi related incidents. Over the weekend, Kanye got busy on his blog. He addressed the media and talked about his arrest. Read Kanye's blog below:

Kanye West Arrested AGAIN! & Crazy ego-trip quote

Kanye West just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Early this morning as he was leaving a New Castle night club (a city in the United Kingdom), West was allegedly involved in an altercation with photographer. Kanye was arrested at a hotel in Gatehead, England just a few hours ago.

Thankfully for Kanye West the police took some time to investigate, and he was released from police custody with out any charges.

The person who is claiming to have been assaulted by Kanye is no stranger to these types of allegations. Just a month ago he made the same accusation against a famous British soccer player. That case was closed with out any charges being filed.

In other related Kanye West news. He is now claiming to be the voice of this generation, the Michael Jordan of music and that Justin Timberlake could have been music’s MVP, but he missed that opportunity when he went on vacation this summer. Read the bazaar quote for your self:

"I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice," he said in an interview on Wednesday. Suge Vs. Kanye

Suge Knight has had an interesting last couple of months. This year alone he has been knocked out in public, filed for bankruptcy, had his company’s assets sold in auctions, accused of beating his girlfriend after leaving a Vegas strip club and charged with assault and drug charges. Early this morning TMZ reported that as a part of Suge Knight’s bankruptcy, filed on October 30, 2008, Kanye West is at fault for the lose of a 15-caret diamond stud earring that was allegedly stolen from him three years ago. The lawsuit was not only filed against Mr. West, but some of his associates were included as well. As per the lawsuit, Suge is claiming that Kanye West failed to properly secure his 2005 pre-VMA party held in Miami, FL. The party that Knight is referring to is a party in which an unknown suspect shot Knight in the leg.

The damages that knight’s claiming are: being shot in the upper right leg; shattering his bone thus requiring surgery, months of physical therapy, continued mental pain, suffering and loss of income. Suge is also claiming to have lost a $135,000 diamond stud earring during the chaos of being shot. According to Knight the earring was retrieved by a person who declared himself as an employee. This “employee” guaranteed Knight the safe return of his precious earring. Unfortunately for Suge, the earring was not returned. Suge is under the impression that this “employee” worked for Kanye or for one of the others who were included in the the suit.

“It was reasonably foreseeable to defendants that the party would present a dangerous environment with the possibility of weapons (including firearms) being used by or against party guests given the well-known feuds that have at times pitched East Coast rap and hip-hop stars against West Coast rap and hip-hop stars, some of whom would be attending the party with their associates, the lawsuit reads, adding that “certain hip-hop artists who were invited to the party … were known not to be friendly to Mr. Knight.”

Def Jam is having an early release day

Island Def Jam must be feeling the squeeze of the recession because they have decided to push up the album release dates for not one, not two, but three of their major acts.

Kanye West’s 808’s & Heartbreak, Ludacris’ Theater of the Mind and the Killers’ Day & Age are the artists, and albums that are going to have an early release date of Monday November 24, 2008. Rather than the more traditional Tuesday release date, Def Jam chose to drop the albums just a day earlier than scheduled. This was done in an attempt to reach higher sales rates.

The Monday release of these albums will be both digital as well as physical releases. Def Jam may have the right idea here as all three of these albums are showing promising sales. Kanye West’s Love Lock Down hit number three on the Hot 100, Ludacris’ One More Drink Featuring T-Pain is at the number 34^th spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs and the Killers’ Human is number six on the Billboard’s Modern Rock charts.

T-Pain is getting ready to promote his new album. In preparation of that Mr. Pain, along with his manager have issued a list of request for the media and their questions. The request goes as follows:

“Please let interviewers know that Pain will only be discussing his album release on 11/11 and any other topics surrounding what he is currently doing.

He will only answer one question on Wayne and upcoming projects they have. No questions on picking favorite artists, who he would like to work with or any other kind of lists.

If you are fun with it that’s fine, and shoot out 5 cool questions relevant to what’s going on in his life cool [sic], otherwise he may he may [sic] get mad “

Seems as if T-Pain should anticipate being upset from now, seeing how his and his manager’s request are way too general and not too clear.

R. Kelly’s nephew shot during robbery

R.Kelly’s 15-year-old nephew was shot during a robbery yesterday afternoon. According to Fox 32 news it is unclear if the teen and his brother, who was with him during the incident, are the victims or the people behind the crime. Unfortunately for the 15-year-old teen and his brother the shop owner was packing heat, and did not hesitate to shoot the victim twice in the abdomen. One bullet went through the teen’s the right lung causing it to collapse, and the other bullet pierced his liver. The teen’s father, Carey Kelly, states that he believes his sons were simply innocent by standers who were at the wrong place at the wrong time. He also stated that on many occasions, he and his boys have been in situations were because of his brother’s status people have tried to cause harm to them for money. Kell’s nephew is currently being treated for his injuries at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn Hospital in Chicago. The Teen’s brother is currently under police custody for questioning.

Mos Def-On the run from Las Vegas police

Back in August while attending a fashion event in Las Vegas, Nevada Mos Def was allegedly involved in an altercation with a photographer. Dante Terrell Smith A.K.A Mos Def is looking at facing a felony robbery charge, in addition to a malicious destruction of private property charge. Las Vegas police have already issued a warrant for his arrest. Volker Corell, an official photographer for Men’s Apparel and Garment Industry Convention (MAGIC), was the other person involved in the alleged altercation. According to Corell, he was simply doing his job as a credentialed photographer (not a paparazzi) by photographing the guest at the event; when all of a sudden Def ripped the camera from around Corell’s neck, proceeded to smash it into the ground, and then took of with the damaged equipment. Corell claims to have suffered a cut to his left hand during the alleged incident. Corell also stated that he was completely unaware of who Mos Def was until after the alleged attack.

Def Jam’s Executive VP found dead at age 34

Shakir Stewart, Jay-Z’s replacement as Executive Vice President of Def Jam Records, was found dead in the bath room of his Georgia home. According to the Cobb County Police, Stewart was taken to an Atlanta hospital on Sunday November 2, 2008 after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 34-year -old Stewart took the Executive V.P. position shortly after Jay-Z resigned in December of 2007.

T.I. beat the MAN!

If T.I.’s rap career happens to turn for the worse, he might have a pretty good future in Law. The rapper pleaded guilty to a weapons charge in Atlanta, Georgia last year. Under Georgia law it legal for a convicted felon to vote if, and only if, he or she is not currently serving probation or a prison sentence.

Fortunately for him, T.I. was not anticipating his sentenced till some time next year, and is currently not under probation. Therefore, he is presently allowed to legally exercise is right to vote. What a way to beat the MAN!

Jay-z & Obama ROCK the VOTE for the 08′ Election

Yesterday, Barak Obama and his campaign for changed announced that on October 5, 2008 seven-time Grammy-Award winning recording artist Jay-z will be headlining a voters registration rally concert in Miami’s Bay Front Park’s Amphitheater. International artist, Wyclef Jean will also be performing at the event. Jay-z and Mr. Jean are performing at this show for free. The only way to obtain tickets to this event was by showing a voter registration card at one of many voting locations in Miami-Dade and Broward County. If one wanted a ticket and was not register to vote they were giving the opportunity to register to vote right then and there. Once they were officially registered to vote in the upcoming 2008 Presidential election, they were given two tickets per person. At the voters registration rally concert Jay-z and Wyclef will be encouraging the crowd to become as involved as possible in the campaign as well as the election.
