Although I wasn’t really allowed to listen to music like Trina’s (since I was only 14), I remember ‘dubbing’ their single off of someone’s tape and reciting it in the mirror as I got ready for school. I remember vividly imitating her style by wearing black spandex, cute summer tops, and rocking the small twist with the weave ponytail to school. Obviously, I wasn’t as fabulous as she was but I began to learn the meaning of what a ‘Bad Bitch’ was. Everywhere I went that summer, all I heard was Trina’s verse being blasted throughout Belle Isle (in Detroit). It was like women had been liberated. It was like a rite of passage to be yelling Trina’s verse to the top of their lungs, no matter how disturbing her verse seemed to be to parents alike. With that one verse alone, Trina landed a record deal with Slip-N-Slide Records. This would completely change the life of a woman who danced to pay tuition. Two years later, she was educating the world by demanding that we all acknowledged her as being the ‘Baddest Bitch’ with her debut album. Since then, men and women alike have been completely mesmerized by the southern beauty. For ten years straight, she’s been every guy’s fantasy and personal pin up girl. Whereas women felt like she’s been a spokesperson representing it for all the women who’s been in love, been hurt, been alone, felt sexy, felt horny, and most of all disappointed with the qualities of a man in the most inappropriate times. In spite of what people’s perceptions of her is as they reflect upon her music, Trina is very much so the average, well rounded, woman. She’s has a college degree and a real estate license. She enjoys cooking. She has fragrance entitled “Diamond Princess”. She also has a foundation geared towards young women called the Diamond Doll Foundation. Like most women, she’s had her share of ups and downs when it comes to love; the only difference is Trina’s has been in the public eye. She’s even had her share of cat fights with other females in the music business. However, what Trina has realized is that all of that (the good and the bad) is all a part of being a successful, black woman in a male dominated business. Recently, Trina and I had the opportunity to sit down to discuss what all of her success has meant to her, from the rich and the famous lifestyle to her highly publicized relationship with rapper Lil’ Wayne. Here’s what the ‘Baddest Bitch’ in the game had to say.

Lexilex: What was it like to work with Keyshia Cole on your single, ‘I Got a Thing for You’?

Trina: It was a great experience. I know her. I’ve known her for a while. It was just like hanging out and having one of my girls around. She’s very professional. We joked, had a great time, and laughed. We talked. It was a real girly type of environment. She’s a beautiful person. It was definitely an honor to get her on this album. We’ve been talking about it for a while but to make it actually come true was a great thing.

Lexilex: Of course, I have to ask you about Wayne. Are the rumors about the tattoo true?

Trina: (laughs as if she’s blushing) I mean, I don’t know what the rumors are and all that… (laughs again) that’s crazy. I don’t know. You know what; you’ll just have to look at the picture. I didn’t hear any rumors or hear anything new so I don’t know. (more laughter as she slightly elevates her voice to making a point) I totally just went all around that question! I just have to laugh (more laughs).

Lexilex: You know what, I totally respect your decision to not talk about it. It’s cool. It’s interesting though because I read a lot of celebrity gossip, and there is always somebody out here talking about your relationships. How does it make you feel when women like Karrine Steffans (and others) comment on your relationship with Wayne?

Trina: I really don’t – I don’t really entertain that. It’s not a major issue or factor to me. It’s irrelevant to the fact that the only person that can speak about my relationship is both I and that person. For someone else to do that, how can you talk about someone else’s relationship and it had no involvement with you. It makes no sense not whatsoever. It doesn’t really bother me.

Lexilex: I saw the video on YouTube when you were performing and the Single Again remix was playing like ‘whatever’ (in a girly way) during his verse. When you first heard the verse Wayne recorded for the Single Again remix, how did it make you feel? Is it reflective of your relationship or was it just you two being creative?

Trina: Actually, that’s just a part of my show. It’s really not ‘yeah whatever’. It’s mostly like, ‘yeah I hear you talking.’ I’m smiling, I’m laughing, and it’s not even a reflective conversation about both of our verses. It’s just a part of us working together – you know, he’s a great artist and I was really honored to have him apart of that. In the part of the show, it’s real spontaneous because a lot of people didn’t even know he was on the remix. When that part comes out, it’s like “Wow”. It’s like all a part of being an artist. We’re working together. It’s a part of what we do. It’s just how it is.

Lexilex: What’s going on with the Diamond Doll Foundation? Are you still working on that?

Trina: Yes, I actually am. I’m doing the second annual event this year. I’m really excited about that. I’m excited to see all of the new activities that we’re planning out and all of the new girls. It’s a fun day; nothing too serious. It’s just a lot of open conversation about life as young girls growing, education and career wise, teen pregnancy, and abuse. There are so many topics of things that girls have to face growing up. I’m just excited this time around to see what’s new and to see what everyone has going on in their lives. I want to see how many people have excelled. I’m interested in hearing their stories, you know, just being able to have a good time with some girls and being able to open up and have fun.

Lexilex: I respect you for doing that as well. At the same time…One can easily say ‘Trina has a potty mouth’ due to some of the topics discussed in your music from sex, relationships, to everyday living. Do you feel like your music justifies your personality or is it just creative writing for you?

Trina: I think music is just a definition of being creative. The things that I talk about in music are a reflection of everyday life. Everything that I’ve talked about has been in someone’s life and their entertaining that. Rather they like to admit it or not, to each its own. It’s just about being real. I’m a realist. I don’t live in a fake world; I live in a real world. I deal with real life issues like any other woman. I don’t feel any different. I don’t speak for anybody else. Through experience, life, and every day obstacles and what comes my way, that’s what I address myself when I’m in the studio making music. If I want to have fun, being sexy, being raw, grimy, romantic, loved, partying – whatever I am in the mood for, that’s what I bring out in the studio. It’s just music. It changes every day. As a person, you change every day. With me traveling, performing, and meeting people all over the world, being in this industry, I’ve been in a lot of situations where I’ve lost a lot of people on the way. There are so many different things that happen in your life, so to me, those are the things that I speak about. I don’t, I’m not a person, who shoots guns or promotes violence. That’s not my M.O. I don’t talk about those things. I talk about the things that is relative to me and that is relative to a lot of things that I see going on around me. It’s a lot of things that I see from being in and out of town, on the road, the things that I see in different arenas, clubs, whatever. Whatever the case may be its reality.

Lexilex: While getting back to the music and being a female in a male dominated industry, how does it make you feel when other chicks try to step to another chick and tare her down?

Trina: I think, to me, its wack. That’s my personal opinion of it. I just feel like we as women, we gotta be strong. Regardless to if you’re in the industry or a regular person with a 9 to 5 job. It comes with egos. It comes with jealousy. It comes with envy. It comes with somebody having something to say. You hear more chicks knocking down another chick then you would hear another dude knocking down another dude. It’s just the way it is. That’s the way society makes it. I just feel like you know, do you and handle your business. Take control of whatever it is that you’re doing and pave the way for yourself; make a name for yourself. Spend that energy elsewhere instead of trying to talk down about somebody else because you’re so busy trying to do what you’re trying to do.

Like most that are born into impoverished neighborhoods filled with crime, poverty, and desperation itching at their finger tips, serving time is a part of life. This couldn’t be truer for Atlanta’s own ALFAMEGA. After growing up in the first housing project in the United States of America, ALFAMEGA was familiar with the justice system by nine years old. While seeing first hand that you’re born with the odds stacked against you, he also learned that if he wanted something he had to go out to get it. That’s exactly what he did, too. Even if it was something as simple as stealing a box of Twinkies, if he wanted it, he went for it. After being inspired by the early culture of Hip-Hop in the mid-1980s, ALFAMEGA realized that he too could be fly like LL COOL J, Kool Moe Dee, and Run DMC. Unfortunately, the road to riches wasn’t as glamorous as it seemed as he was forced to serve time in the penitentiary. Recently, Lexilex had the opportunity to catch up with Grand Hustle’s own ALFAMEGA to discuss how influential his jail time was for him. Here’s what he had to say:

Lexilex: What’s going on? I am so glad to see that you have a sense of humor because when I see you out and about at industry events in Atlanta, you always look like you’re going to punch somebody in the nose!

ALFAMEGA: (laughs) People always get it twisted. I just said that. When I’m by myself, I be looking and watching people. I watch their reactions.

Lexilex: You know, I saw you at Bloodraw’s DJ music appreciation party. I was going to speak to you then but I was afraid that you were going to pistol whip me just for looking at you so I kept it moving. (laughs)

ALFAMEGA: Pistol whip you? Oh my, God! Good Lord! (laughs) That’s another charge! Nah, ask your people about me. We took some pictures at the Ozone awards. They know I’m cool.

Lexilex: What’s been going on with you, lately?

ALFAMEGA: Aye man, I am on my grind. You know, I gotta get it. I have eight children.

Lexilex: Wow! Okay!

ALFAMEGA: Yeah, that’s what they all say, Woooooow! (laughs)

Lexilex: Tell me about your project, I Am ALFAMEGA.

ALFAMEGA: I have the album coming out October 14^th on Grand Hustle Records/ Capitol Records. It’s called, I Am ALFAMEGA. It’s business as usual. “Uh huh” is the name of my first single. It’s produced by Nitti and it figures Tip. It’s on my MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/alphamega) so tell a friend to tell a friend to tell a friend that ALFAMEGA is back at it again.

Lexilex: Okay, let’s talk about your past for a second. While in prison, you’ve managed to keep track exactly of the time – 7 years, 4 days, 5 hours, 32 minutes and 16 long ass seconds – that you were in jail. What was that experience like for you?

ALFAMEGA: It was hell. It was really living hell. It made me strong. It made me who I am today. I wouldn’t change anything about it because I took the negative and make it into something positive.

Lexilex: During that time you wrote 1700 songs, had them registered and copy written. Are any of those songs on this album?

ALFAMEGA: Yes ma’am I did. The most touching song that’s going to be on this album is called “Imagine.” It starts out as a letter that turns into a poem that ends up in a song. I wrote it when I was in a housing unit up in prison. It’s called the ‘hole,’ ‘shoe’, ‘block’, whatever you want to call it. It’s giving eyes to people who have never been in that situation before to know what it is really like. When you hear it, you’re going to be like ‘damn!’ you’re going to feel like you’re there. I am giving you not just my side of it but anyone who is incarcerated side to it. That’s why I call it “Imagine.” People used to ask me why I was so angry when I would call home, ‘why are you so angry? Why you always in fights? Why are you always in the hole?’ and all I can say was ‘can you imagine what I am going through?

Lexilex: What did you actually go to jail for?

ALFAMEGA: I went to jail for being a knucklehead. I broke the law. I was J-walking on a Tuesday night. (burst into laughter)

Lexilex: You’re so silly!

ALFAMEGA: But you’re laughing though. Now, you can tell everyone that ALFAMEGA is a cool dude. If you ever see me fighting then it’s because someone has really done something to me.

Lexilex: Being that you’re from the first housing projects ever, do you feel like that experience has shaped you into the artist that you are today?

ALFAMEGA: It helped shaped me not only as an artist, but as a human. Being that I am from Techwood – big shot out to Techwood – I am from 118 Pine Street apartment number 4. (laughs)

Lexilex: Now let me ask you something. Today, we see more and more studio created and glamorized thugs in this business. How do you feel about those types of lifestyles that people, such as yourself, actually come from?

ALFAMEGA: I really can’t blame them. Everybody wants to be something that they’re not. Growing up, I wanted to be Captain America. I was little though. Then I got older and I wanted to be like LL Cool J. I couldn’t be like him but I could dress like him. Then I got a little older and I wanted him to be like me. It’s all about if the person is comfortable with themselves. For someone to want to be like someone else then they might not be so comfortable with themselves because they have that influence coming in from somewhere else. You have to also blame the powers that be too.

Lexilex: How did you and T.I. become friends?

ALFAMEGA: That’s my potna, that’s like my brother. We come from the same side of town. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think anybody can question what I say. I don’t mean that in a negative way either. We knew some of the same people. Some of the same people that groomed him, I grew up with them. When I was with Universal Records, Block – shout out to Block Entertainment, hooked it up where I could do a song with Tip. It was a mutual understanding though because I was the only dude that had a song with Tip and Lil Flip together. This was at a time when they were beefing. When I got out of my deal with Universal, Tip found out I was a free agent. He shook my hand. We didn’t sign any contracts. He just said, ‘Welcome to Grand Hustle.’ He said, ‘I am the King, and you are the muscle.’ He said that people needed to hear my story.

Lexilex: Now, you once had a record deal with Universal Records. The album was shelved due to creative differences. What was that experience like? Where any of the (1700) songs on that album?

ALFAMEGA: The songs that I wrote weren’t even on the album. I went and did all new songs. It was frustrating because I wanted to come out but it was a blessing in disguise. I always look at things differently. I can get mad or upset. Then when I get by myself I think. You have to understand I was in an environment where I had to think. I thought about it and saw that it was something up with that deal but I didn’t let it stop me. Just because one person doesn’t sign me in six months doesn’t mean that someone else will not sign me.

Lexilex: Now that you’ve been with Grand Hustle for a while, what do you hope to gain out of this experience? What do you hope to achieve with this project?

ALFAMEGA: I want the people to know I am human. My thing is to bring reality back to music. I don’t mean reality in a negative way. I just mean it’s cool to party, it’s cool to floss and bust head, but when they cut the lights on and scream last call for alcohol, you have to come back down to reality. You have to go home. You have to pay bills. You have to go to work. Another thing, I want to show dudes how to be grown men; instead of being grown males. Just because you’re of a certain age doesn’t mean you’re an adult.

Lexilex: Do you have any features on the album besides T.I.? Or unique productions?

ALFAMEGA: Yeah, I have a song with 8Ball, MJG, Bun B, a hook with Pimp C. B.G., Jeezy, the Outlaws. I’m waiting for Lil’ Kim to give me an intro for this song called, “Never Be Me”. It’s crazy because the people who are like you within the media come to the studio, get to know me, listen to my music and they compare me a lot to Biggie and Pac. They say I’m a combination of the two. We all share the same sign, Geminis.

Lexilex: How does that feel to be compared to the two greatest rap legends of all time?

ALFAMEGA: At first, I was like aye man, don’t do that to me. Then I say, aye man it must be something. It was meant to be. God don’t make mistakes. He put me in a position to put those thoughts in the media’s head. Therefore it must be something he meant for it to happen.

Lexilex: So the next time you’re back at home in the “A” I can come and check you out.

ALFAMEGA: Yeah, call me.

Lexilex: Aside from this album, what’s next for you?

ALFAMEGA: I just did a movie called, Make It Rain. It’s produced by Snoop and Daz Dilligener. I have the star role.

Lexilex: Oh really?

ALFAMEGA: Oh really! Yeah, ya boy is coming on up in the world. I’m like the Jeffersons.

Lexilex: So we’re going to see some facial expressions instead of the mean mug all the time?

ALFAMEGA: You’re going to see some of everything. You might even see a scene that is going to make you call me at two in the morning! (laughs)

Lexilex: I have to be honest with you Khia; I don’t want you to think that I’m attacking you.

Khia: Well you should know that you can never attack me.

Lexilex: Well I just wanted to say that because I think that I have misjudged you… However, I wanted to do this interview with you because after seeing you on Ms. Rap Supreme, I felt that I had been misjudging you. I’ll tell you why. Although you’ve been doing your thing for a while now, it seems like the press never pick up on you in a story unless it’s controversial. Therefore, my question to you is do you feel like people are always misjudging you?

Khia: That’s definitely what’s it’s been. It’s backfiring, even if it is going both ways in the form of a love-hate relationship, either way it is still promotion. Thank you for asking me though because drama sells.

Lexilex: Do you think that people deserve to see the more laid back, professional Khia more so than the labeled ‘shit starter’ Khia, like I’m seeing today?

Khia: You know what though; the real people know the difference. I can’t continue to talk to deaf ears. You understand it or you don’t – of course, the media is going to build you up to tare you down. I’m comfortable with where I am. I’m promoting myself, my music, and it’s all independent. My fan base, that is within the south, know the difference, because they will definitely make you out to looking like something that you are not.

Lexilex: Before the reality show, you’re known for saying that the controversy is free promotion for you. Even though they aired the episode where you were disqualified last night, have you seen an increase or decrease in your credibility?

Khia: Oh girl, it helped increased it. That was the best promotion I ever had. I had so much fun and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. Everybody is talking about Khia. It helped increased it for my fans who wanted to see me for the people who haven’t seen me and for those who have wondered where I was. They had the opportunity to see me. For me to be able to perform “Respect Me”, the ring tones sales have gone up tremendously, people are going to pick up the “You’re My Girl” album. There are so many messages that go beyond the “My Neck My Back”. I’ve touched so many people who have had issues with their mom and have lost their mom, and wanted to go pick up the album. There are a lot of people who are robots. They listen to the media to tell them who’s hot and whatnot. That has been in the blind. I called them ‘delayed’. For the people who have been wondering where I’ve been, it’s like ‘there she goes.’ For those who thought I was dead, it was like ‘she’s risen’. For those who thought all I had was “My Neck, My Back” it’s like ‘no, this is her third album, and sixth mix tape.’ It didn’t do anything but increased my sells, fans, and was a great marketing tool for Nasti Muzik. I love every minute of it.

Lexilex: You’ve stated that you have two beautiful children, for those who might wonder, do you feel as though you’re setting a good example for our children?

Khia: Yes! Oh yes. I teach them to be strong and not to take NO shit. It doesn’t matter what you look like, if you’re different –if you’re Punkie Brewster or the outcast – don’t let other girls or boys judge you or make you feel bad like you ain’t beautiful or cute. If they need to be chastised, chastise them because I will. Sometimes we have to treat our children how to fight. Not everybody raise their children wrong. There are some children who love Khia. They know when to bleep it out and what’s for them to listen to and what’s not for them to listen to. What I represent is strength, and they respect that.

Lexilex: Now, I have to give you mad props. You’ve been facilitating a lot of things within your career for yourself – a lot of things that most people don’t know about. Tell us why people who might have had the same perceptions of you should respect you, or at least, look at you differently from what their reading on the MySpace blogs?

Khia: A lot of people are just now catching up to me like, ‘oh I get it’. Let them catch up to what’s going on now because this has been going on since 2002. I use MySpace and every avenue that I can to promote myself which is why I’ve been around so long without the use of a machine and team to do it. With all the hate, negativity, whatever it’s the streets that love me and keeping me a float. For me to write a blog, after all of the websites and media have picked and chosen their stories without me being involved, it was like me saying, ‘here fans this is the real’. I’m sure that they would rather here it from me than from them. Now, they’re looking forward to it. Everything that they try to use against me, I use for me.

Lexilex: Now, Khia, I have to be honest. I wouldn’t be a journalist if I didn’t ask you this. What’s the story with you and Lil’ Wayne?

Khia: ooh! (sounding as if I hit a touchy subject) Everybody (chopped speech) – that’s my baby. Make sure you get The Carter 3! I don’t really talk about my personal life as far as my kids and other things are concerned. Everybody knows what’s up, much love. I’m his #1 fan.

Lexilex: You can answer this yes or no – is the song ‘Lollypop’ about you?

Khia: Yes.

Lexilex: Okay, I just wanted to ask because I thought I’ve picked up on that but didn’t want to conclude the wrong assumptions…moving along, why did you feel the need to buy Trina’s album and critique it in your MySpace blog?

Khia: She put a diss record out on me. Why put out a diss record – I was like why is this girl talking about me… I went to get the album to see if it was on there and it wasn’t. She was circulating the diss record as false promo for the album. I bought all of her albums – go buy mines. Out of all of them, this one was weak. Therefore, I was like instead of me doing another diss record –since you can rewind the first one since hers didn’t get any better – let me just do a review of her album. You can do the same for mines because I’m not in the business to write diss records. Trina put hers out first, and I made mines. I said what I said about her because she put hers out first, so I put out ‘Hit Her Up’ then she put out another… I was just like ‘you know what, I am a musician, I’m an artist, I don’t write diss records. It’s like buy the album. I did it and then I did the review instead of the diss record. She didn’t deserve the first diss record that I did because really it wasn’t for her, it was for the dude who did the ghost writing for her, that I know, so tell him to come up from behind that pen. All my facts are straight…. All you want to talk about is my dreads and my titties – which are lovely. We done heard it before so is that all ya’ll can say?

Lexilex: What’s up with you and Wendy Williams?

Khia: She is a Trina fan because they have a lot in common… trifling! She hated by giving me a lot of free promotion in the Hip-Hop Weekly and on her radio show. My fans are my biggest supporters. Anything that they want to know, they will let me know or ask about it. Here I come like ‘what’s going on?’ (sounding like she’s clueless – pretty hilarious) and they’ve taped Wendy going off on me in the Hip-Hop weekly, etc. I’m like why is Wendy attacking me when I’ve been on her show plenty of times. It was all love. One of them undercover haters – if I’m for you I’m for you. Don’t try to smile in my face like everything is cool and try to use me. Then behind my back, you want to hate. The same thing with Janet. Let me know so that I’ll know that I don’t have to do you, and I don’t have to deal with you. I took the blog out on Wendy because it was more like ‘Wendy, I thought me and you was cool’ so I had to check Wendy in the blog!

Lexilex: Would you like to clarify what happened between you and Janet?

Khia: I felt disrespected because I’m a realist. I’m a Janet fan, much love to her. When it came time to do the video, and the promo, she hated. I don’t really do features because I don’t respect women as artist. I do my own music. For that reason, a lot of people go and get collaborations because they want to use other people fan base to help sell their records. I felt like that’s what she did. She called me, it was all love. When I got to the studio, she acted like she was fan talking about how she loved the song, ‘My Neck, My Back’. She wanted me to be on her album. I write the song, she loves it. I went to the video shoot, she loves it. Everything is Khia, Khia, Khia – everything is great. When the video aired, I had been edited out. I was on the TV, which was not the way the video was originally shot. Which means to me that in my face, everything was all good but behind my back, she was hating. It was like ‘oh no, this is my video, it’s on the song, I’m Janet Jackson, and that’s it.’ Well if she respected me as an artist, it would have been like ‘Well Khia, I respect what you doing, you’re an independent artist, I want to help you. I called you to be on my record, I want you to be in my video.’ That let me know she was hating. It’s more so like I’ve used you, I got what I needed, BYE. Even though I got my money – don’t get me wrong – if I knew she felt like that then I wouldn’t have done it because it’s not about the money.

Lexilex: Why did you decide to do the reality show?

Khia: To promote myself with my new album about to drop. I’ve already made up my mind that I wanted to go and promote myself. From a business stand point, why would I go on there with a bunch of amateurs who haven’t done anything? The judges haven’t done anything. How can they critique me? In my mind, it was use this time like promote your music. Nobody else got it. It was like ‘Oh, why is Khia on there?’ and it’s like because the show was on VH1. VH1 goes into millions of households. I’m going on here to promote my music and myself. Everybody was like ‘oh she already made it’. No, I never signed a contract. I never had a major deal. That made me eligible to be on the show. Just because ya’ll put me up there with some of the big dogs, that comes from straight street grinding.

Lexilex: Have you resolved your issues with Ms. Cherry?

Khia: No, she’s just young and ignorant. It’s like ‘do something’. Everybody knows that I’m not a one-hit wonder. She’s from the south, she knows. If she was from New York, I could say, oh well you don’t know any better but she does. She was putting on for the TV and I checked her. She simmered down, she knows better.

Lexilex: What inspired you to write a book of poetry? Again, the average person doesn’t get this perception of you so what would make them want to go and buy your book.

Khia: Now with the blogs and my first book, ‘Gangster Love’, it’s like seeing that people are like she CAN be a creative writer. It’s like duh! I’m a writer, I don’t just write music, I write stories, plays, all that. I’m a writer. Now it’s like everybody is like ‘okay… okay…’ but to my fans it’s still entertainment. Everything is going to be juicy because it’s me. I can sell anything to them because it is me and they respect me. Some people get it and some people don’t but that’s what I do.

Lexilex: Let’s talk about this album, what can the fans expect? The cover is hot!

Khia: I know I’ve made it back to Africa. This album is going to seal the deal with the music composer, producer, and artist. It’s not just all Hip-Hop and rap. I created melodies, bridges, blinds, and harmonies. It’s anymore hooks like it was before. It’s music… not just a bunch of metaphors put together.

Lexilex: With your single, ‘Be Your Lady’ was that energy put into that? I love that record.

Khia: Yes, yes, yes…

Lexilex: Any features on the album?

Khia: No.

Lexilex: What is something you’re looking forward to the most with this album?

Khia: Touring with my band. I have a band with this album so to be able to do young and old folks – it’s exciting. I am thirty years old. With the live music with the Hip-Hop and blend, it’s a new level. I’m in a new category all by myself.

Lexilex: Any lasting comments – maybe to those who misunderstood you?

Khia: It’s not too many real people anymore. You have leaders and you have followers. You have kings, queens, and you have peasants. The people who recognize who the real is, and for those who are easily persuaded by the powers whatever that may be, I don’t need to accept them. I don’t need them to understand me, for those who do, that are what’s up. I’m trying to lead my hood, the youth, uplift my company, and make it through the struggle. I dedicate my projects to the fans. I do all kinds of shout-outs and inserts to the fans. They are excited to see if their name made it. I used some of their skits so they’re waiting to hear that. My relationship with my fans are deep. A lot of artist don’t take time to see what’s up with their fans and I do. Everything I have is because of them, so Nasti Muzik 08 is for the fans.

Lexilex: What would you say to the women who are out here wanting to make it but is doing it the wrong way since you’ve done it your way by yourself?

Khia: Love yourself hoe, which is the name of my book. You can’t be out here doing different things with different people and don’t think that they do not want something else in return. Do things for yourself. You have to chase your dreams and make them happen for yourself. You can’t trust people. People have secret motives. You have to definitely take control of your own situation and know that hard work does pay off. Work hard. I enjoy being independent and being in control of me and being the boss of me. You’ll reap more blessings like that.

Less than five years ago, Shawty Lo wasn’t even a rapper. Now, he’s the BET’s Rookie of the Year recipient. However prior to releasing his debut album Units in the City, Carlos Walker was facing many different challenges. While facing twenty to forty years of jail time and battling diabetes, Shawty Lo realized there has got to be something else better in life. He began to invest his money into D4L Records, where he would be the CEO. However, shortly after his return from his one year sentence, he began to try his luck at being an official rapper. He recorded his song “I’m the Man” which gained a lot of attention from media and fans all over the nation. And of course, his “beef” with T.I. has helped gain him a lot of exposure as well. Recently, I got a chance to finally sit down with Shawty Lo to talk about what really happened at the Dirty Awards, how the beef with T.I. started, and to see how his life has been since finding out he is a diabetic.

Lexilex: What’s up, Shawty Lo? What’s going on? You’re a busy man to catch up with. I’ve been trying to talk to you since last December. What’s been going on?

Shawty Lo: I’ve just been out here grinding and working hard.

Lexilex: Now, you know I have to ask you. What in the world happened at the Dirty Awards? I thought the conflict had been resolved.

Shawty Lo: It’s really unfortunate that it happened. I regret that it happened. Things just totally got out of hand. I want it to be over cause it’s really nothing to be beefing over. It’s not even worth it.

Lexilex: How did the “beef” with T.I. even start in the first place?

Shawty Lo: It started a while ago around 2006. I had asked him if he wanted to get on a track that I had with me. He told me he would do it. After a minute, I asked his people what was up. They told me he wasn’t doing it. I was like alright, cool. I guess he heard the song “King.” Next thing I know, he releases a song called “Big Shit Popping” where he disses me. “I was king and the niggas started laughing at him, same sucka niggas want the king on the track with them.” Then, I did “Dun Done it All.” After that time, he caught his case, and I fell off with it. At that time, my music was getting a lot of attention so I just let it go. , I never said his name and he never said my name. But when he got out of jail, he went on the radio station saying my name and it went from there. I never mentioned his name on my album once.

Lexilex: Now you’re originally from Atlanta, and Bankhead representative. Do you feel as though T.I. help paved the way for rappers such as yourself that’s from Atlanta and who represent Bankhead as well?

Shawty Lo: I never said that he didn’t put Bankhead on the map because he has. He’s just not from Bankhead.

Lexilex: Let’s talk about D4L for a minute. You guys had major success with your hits “Laffy Taffy” and “Betcha can’t do it like me”. Will we ever hear another record from D4L? Or, is everyone just doing their own thing?

Shawty Lo: You know what I don’t know. People wanted to make it seem like Fabo was the group and he wasn’t the group by himself. He’s supposed to be working on a solo album, now.

Lexilex: Do you feel like songs such as “Laffy Taffy” hurt your street credibility?

Shawty Lo: Nah, I don’t because I wasn’t a rapper then. I was still in prison when I called home and they told me they had a hit. Initially, I was on some CEO type of stuff. I wasn’t trying to be a rapper. They did the record “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me”. When I first heard it, I was like ‘ya’ll crazy talking about some Laffy Taffy,’ but it was a hit. It wasn’t until 2005 early 2006 when I did the song “I’m the man” and I just kept going from there. The people wanted to hear more music from me. I came home (from prison) that I actually started trying to make something positive out of something negative. I wasn’t trying to go back to the streets.

Lexilex: A few months ago, you won BET’s Rookie of the Year award. How did that make you feel?

Shawty Lo: That made me feel really good that people were acknowledging me for my music and the hard work I’ve put in. It was an honor.

Lexilex: You’re known and seen all around Atlanta. Do you find yourself being bombarded with people asking you to check out their music? Or asking for help with trying to get a deal? What do you do?

Shawty Lo: I just try to keep it real with them. I try to give them pointers on how to be successful. I tell them they have to work hard to get that hit record. You’ve got to have that hit single that people want to hear. You have to get the streets behind you first.

Lexilex: Who are other artists in the game that you respect? Who do you listen to?

Shawty Lo: My number one favorite artist is Jay-Z. My second is Lil’ Wayne.

Lexilex: You’re a known diabetic, which is a prevalent disease in our community. You have participated in the American Diabetes Association walk. Do you ever see yourself doing public service announcements to bring awareness to it?

Shawty Lo: You know, by me really being from the hood I have to take some speech classes because I don’t want to half step with it, I take this seriously. But I am working on my public speaking skills now. I am launching a diabetes health network so that I can help other people struggling with the illness. We are also working on doing a lot more within the community and at homeless shelters. I’ve done huge community days in Bankhead with free haircuts and face paintings for kids. I’ve given away groceries for those who are diabetic. I do a lot but I don’t do it for publicity. A lot of what I do goes unnoticed and that’s fine with me, as long as I’m helping somebody.

Lexilex: What’s next for Shawty Lo? You’re like the new remix king. Is there a new album coming soon?

Shawty Lo: Right now, I’m working on my book and a movie. And both are going to be about my life. It’s going to be called Carlos. I’m going to break it down year by year and let the people know everything. I am in the beginning stages but I hope to have it out by the time the album drops. Right now, the album is scheduled to drop around March 24^th, but that’s not for certain yet. I have a new mix tape out I’m the Man 2K9 with DJ Scream. I have my group Costra Nostra. I have my artists Mook B and Stuntman. I’m just working on a lot of things.

Lexilex: I’ve heard a few new tracks, are those songs from the new mix tape or album?

Shawty Lo: Which ones did you hear?

Lexilex: The one with Trey Songs and Lil’ Wayne.

Shawty Lo: That’s from the album, it’s called “Supplier”.

Lexilex: Will Shawty Lo ever have an official YouTube channel? You seem to have a lot of videos on the internet.

While on the topic of pregnancy, word on the streets is that Mariah could be next. Mariah was spotted leaving an OBGYNs office this week and being congratulated by her entourage.

Speaking of good news, Monica is working really hard with working on her new album. For those ATLiens, you’d know a while ago Monica was working on her reality show The Single on Peachtree TV.(which aired only once due to Monica trying to shop the show around to a major network). I heard today that T.I. has already started working on his next album. He’s also working on shopping around a new movie as well. When talking to the media about this opportunity, Tip said, “We’re getting offers every day, checking on our availability, on whether or not we’ll be able to take advantage of certain opportunities, film-wise.” Tip has been getting himself up for when he gets back from serving his one year jail sentence. This past week, he was on Howard Stern’s radio show. He said while he’s gone there would be no visits. He said he didn’t want to see his kids nor long time girlfriend Tameka “Tiny” Cottle.

Killer Mike is working on a record deal with Grand Hustle. According to AllHipHop.com, Killer Mike said “Tip is encouraging me to be a business man, and he’s encouraging the efforts I’ve already put forth. This is an industry of slaves and sharecroppers. And most people just try to either enslave you or make you a sharecropper. And sharecropping, it ain’t perfect, but it’s a lot nobler than slavery. I’ll be happy to work the whole field as long as I can own a small piece or make a profit.”

Speaking of Jail, DMX was arrested, again. Accept for this time, he was scheduled to perform in a Florida club. Even though he only sold 500 tickets (at the time), the promoter of the club has to reimburse everyone for their tickets (at $20 apiece) since DMX is in jail. Dang….

I also heard that T-Pain and Plies are beefing, still. Not too long ago, I reported that Plies has a tendency of having a lot of enemies in Florida. In spite of his entire “I’m a goon” image, Plies is really scary. He is known for running from his “beefs.” All of this was exposed at this year’s Jingle Jam. Apparently, TI was supposed to perform and bring out Plies during his performance. T-Pain wasn’t having it and threatened to leave. But before the officials could figure something out, Plies left the building without warning. I also heard its similar situations that have prevented Plies from even going back home to Fort Myers.

Speaking of beefs, actress Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony might be on their way to divorce court. The actress turned singer has been spotted without either her wedding ring or husband lately. As of today, that’s been the longest marriage J.Lo has had as of date. Anthony is the father of the couples twin daughters, born earlier this year.

When Keyshia Cole named her album A Different Me, she definitely prepared her fans for a shift in music. While still riding on the wave of hit singles such as Heaven Sent and I Remember, Keyshia sat down with mega producers such as Polo Da Don, Dallas Austin, Ron Fair, and the Trackmasters to co-write her third solo effort. She even invited her best friend Monica, the legendary Tupac and Nas to appear on the album. However, for most Keyshia Cole fans, this is definitely a different side of Keyshia that most weren’t expecting.

With songs such as Play Your Cards Right, Keyshia experiences a different taste in music. Although it appears that Keyshia wants to be in love, wanting to take her time, it also appears as if Keyshia just threw this song onto the album just because she felt like it was a long and overdue single to be released. On Make Me Over, Keyshia is asking for her man to make her over, almost sampling Tina Turner’s song I want to be made over. Even though the track has a funky DC/Maryland Go-Go sounding beat, it’s not enough for me to want to continue to listen to the album. With You Complete Me, and Brand New it seems as though Keyshia’s co-writers finally find her voice as she nails this record with all sincerity. However, with songs such as Beautiful Music and Where this Could End Up, I’m left wondering if this is Keyshia Cole or Paula Abdul’s album that I am listening to.

Overall, fans will be left disappointed with this different side of Keyshia Cole. This album definitely lacks the more sensual and sexy, yet feisty side of Keyshia that most fans are used to. This album definitely reflects the communal efforts put into rushing this album; it doesn’t seem fully representative of Keyshia’s abilities as an artist and writer. Perhaps this album will grow on fans but it is definitely one to purchase as time goes on. I’m not sure what side of Keyshia the producers were going for, but this side of Keyshia needs to not be exposed to her fans.

With all of the greatest disappointments of the world, I give her album two out of five stars.

T-Pain

Since the very beginning, T-Pain has brought forward a new sound to the dull and dry music scene. Even with his very infamous computerized voice, a.k.a. the auto tune, T-Pain’s lyrical abilities have continued to demonstrate his talents proving that he is meant to be within this industry; which is why he’s working on his third studio album Thr33 Rings.

With songs such as “Chopped and Screwed”, T-Pain continues to highlight real life situations that most men go through. As he continues to illustrate the average night life within the strip club with songs such as “Can’t Believe It”, T-Pain also demonstrates that he is able to poke fun at himself and his auto-tune use on “Karaoke”. On “Change the World,” I am forced to remember why so many people could relate to him to begin with as he goes back to the state of mind he was on the first and second albums. However what most people fail to realize that T-Pain is not just a non-singing person who uses a machine to hit the notes that he cannot hit. He is very much as lyrical as he demonstrates his writings skills throughout the album.

Although T-Pain is all over the radio within any regions top ten spins of the day, T-Pain has earned his career as a musical legend within this industry. With all of the features that T-Pain does, I kind of expected for the album to be a little bit hotter than what it is but it is pretty good for what it is. Although many would disagree, T-Pain has earned his right to stay on the radio with his many miscellaneous accolades received throughout his short but legendary career. No, he might not be a Luther Vandross or R. Kelly but he has his very own unique style that is annoyingly duplicated but is nowhere near to the talents of the Ringleader Man.

I give this album three out of five stars.

Since November 1997, I have been a huge fan of Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child. However for the first time in this eleven year streak of Beyoncé, I am very disappointed with this album I am Sasha Fierce.

Initially when the first singles began to leak via internet, I was excited about this project. With very commercial songs such as If I were a Boy and Single Ladies, I was bamboozled into believing that this would be the better one of the collection of Beyoncé’s albums. I thought that this album would be a woman’s collector’s item. However, with this album being full of cross over tracks (such as If I were a Boy), I was left with wondering where was the real Beyoncé? This album seems more rushed and put together than the B’Day album; which I love to no end.

Although Beyoncé is known for trying to go above and beyond each time, I unfortunately was unimpressed. With songs such as Halo and Satelite I find myself wondering what the hell is she yelling about? I’m often confused if she’s saying halo or hello. With songs such as Diva, Ego, and Video Phone, it seems as if Beyoncé is simply trying too hard to find a balance between the pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop star that has been created throughout the years. This album is definitely too commercial and the crossover tactic did not work. It was very unnecessary; considering Beyoncé has been a cross over artist for some time.

If I could rate this album based on five stars, I wouldn’t even give it half a star. Out of all the material listed, only three songs on the entire album are popping: Diva, Single Ladies, and If I were a Boy. It seems as if all of the better songs that leaked to the internet were the better half of the album that was conviently dropped off to trick you into buying this mess. The album is seriously disappointing leaving long time fans demanding a refund for the album I am Garbage.

(Atlanta, GA) – As a resident of Atlanta, I am all too familiar with how 65% to 70% of the population pretends to be someone they are not. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the people in Atlanta are doing really well; you have a lot of people doing very well in their prospective careers. However, you still have a lot of people who are still faking it until they make it. This includes several members of the cast of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Throughout this show, viewers from all around the country have been conned into believing that these women have something serious going on. However, it has been revealed by numerous of sources that there have been many lies within this so called “reality show”. We have been conned into believing that that these women have stacks on deck and are just living it up like there is no tomorrow. However, it has been revealed that my personal favorite NeNe Leakes has been evicted from her Duluth home; which is the same home that has been featured on the show. Her B.F.F. Kim Zolaic was written into the script to add adversity; there is no such man as a ‘Big Poppa’ (a.k.a. Lee Najir) – which means she never bought that Cadillac Escalade. (Before the show finished taping, their relationship ended). Nor does she have a singing career in the making with mega producer Dallas Austin. However, Kim does live in the very nice townhouse shown in the show. Furthermore, Sheree Whitfield’s finances are not as lavish as reported either. The uptight and sadistic diva is known for bouncing checks throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area as she travels and shops with her entourage of people. Unsurprisingly, Sheree was also evicted from her home seen in the show. Lisa Wu-Hartwell recently filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy and is known for having several alias such as Sharron M. Wu and Sharon Lisa Sweat (after her previous marriage to Keith Sweat whom she has two kids).

Now, don’t get me wrong; I’m all about doing well and having things to represent your success. However, prior to their show I have never heard of any of these women (aside from Sheree’s check bouncing through Lenox Square Mall). It seems like the only women who have something legitimate is DeShawn Snow, who is working diligently to get the DeShawn Snow Foundation up and running. Ironically, nobody wanted to give DeShawn any play during her fundraiser at the couple’s home. Perhaps these ladies were just jealous because DeShawn’s money is real.

I suppose this show just goes to show you that you cannot believe half of what you see and none of what you read – even when you’re living in the overcrowded city of Atlanta, GA. Everybody who is somebody is linked to somebody else and it is truly six degrees of separation amongst people.

Although all of these ladies are quick to fight the rumors, the fact of the matter is none of these women have it going on as they proclaim. If they did, NeNe wouldn’t have that $30 a bag dry, bridle, and ugly quick weave in her head and Kim’s clip on pieces wouldn’t show every episode.

Be yourself people! Fronting and flodging will get you nowhere accept for on blast for faking it until you make it!

Speaking of Rick Ross, he is still denying the allegations that he has completely forged his entire 'life' that we've all been buying. In a recent interview with Don Diva magazine, Rick Ross issues yet another statement. He says, "When I’m making my music and talking about blow, it’s because I did it,” Rick Ross maintains. “When I say I’m rich off cocaine it’s because I did it. I never tried to hide my past! I put my name inside of all my CDs. My company has my SS #. I could’ve put a company name." ** Remember, I told you here first that this was a pre-planned stunt pulled by Miami's own Trick Daddy. Mind you, Trick has a tendacy of turning his back on his artist (i.e. Plies). However, he went on to say “I just talked to Plies two weeks ago and we fixin’ that Trick Daddy and Plies thing. That’s small. We all street n***as that got 30 killers behind us and we all rich and we all wild. I love Trick, cause he the one that brought me in the game.”

Lord knows, I fight for people to respect Khia.

We have mutual friends... I've interviewed her before and even got a deeper glimpse into who she was respecting her even more. As we all know, on July 22, Khia released her highly anticipated album Nasti Muzik 08 (which many didn't really give a shit about). Since then, it's been a little rumor flying around the internet saying that she is short of going platinum. Khia even posted this in her highly referenced MySpace blog. However, when I received last week's soundscan, I did not come across Khia's name. I thought that there was some mistake. Nonetheless, it has was learned that this was indeed a lie. Khia only sold 1,400 copies her first week according to AllHipHop.com's Illseed. Keep in mind, I had the opportunity of speaking with Khia a few months ago and I really enjoyed what she had to say. Although Khia parades around the United States demanding that other people acknowledge her and enforce the fact that the 'hood' knows about her, the real question is: why didn't they go out to support her? Don't get me wrong, I was one of the 1,400 who did. But I think that finally Khia's negative attitude and snapping on radio personalities on air has definitely caught up with her; even though she claims that's a publicity stunt.

Now, I don't know how true this is, but there is a word on the street that Florida rapper Jacki-O is sexing for advancement funds. Mind you, the industry is really tough right now to be in, especially for independent artist that are struggling to finance their careers. Women in the music business have to use 'what they've got to get what they want' all the time. Like I said, I'm not sure if this is true or not but since she and I have mutual friends, I can definitely investigate this one. I just hope she's not that type of chick but hey, sometimes YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO.

In a recent interview with Vibe Magazine, Swiss Beat's ex-wife and one hit wonder Mashonda spoke out about the rumors circulating their recent divorce. When it comes to the whole Alicia Keys & Swiss Beats relationship, this is what she had to say:

How about now? There were some rumors regarding [Alicia Keys’ fiancée´] Krucial Keys. The media turned this whole Krucial Keys thing into some ridiculousness. Went out to D-Nices’ birthday party – a very good and mutual friend of both Swizz and I – to have a good time and promote the album. I get caught up in all the unnecessary shit for no reason. I feel like I gave too much already, but just know I am in no way shape or form using what is going on to push my music. The media is creating a scandal, and I’m creating music, it’s not apart of each other. Understood. What are you doing for your career so you’re not labeled just Swizz Beatz ex-wife? There is no ex-wife situation yet, we’re not even legally separated yet. We are still in the beginning stages.

Last night, I spoke with one of my sources who informed me that this recent publicity stunt launched by Trick Daddy was pre-planned. This stunt has been in the works for a period of time. However, my informant believed that this was “beef” was settled when this stunt wasn’t pulled earlier.

Here is the kicker: the photo of Rick Ross in his work uniform is in need Rick Ross. Now, if you saw the video, which was uploaded to HipHopMusicDotCom.com, Ross explains how ‘disappointing’ it was for this picture to be released. The only way it’s disappointing was because his big boy, boss, was exposed as being a correction officer. Well, folks… it looks like another ‘disappointing’ blow for another ‘d-boi’!

Today is Wayne’s day as Lil’ Wayne drops his highly anticipated and most hated album, The Carter III. I don’t know why I have this love-hate relationship with Lil’ Wayne but I do. Well folks, it looks like R. Kelly has his own real life saga of Trapped in the Closet with his child pornography court case. It appears that the Chicago Sun Times reporter whom leaked the video has refused to show up in court, claming that he never received the documentation needed from the court indicating that he needed to be present. Now, the judge in the case has ordered for him to show up in court TODAY or be thrown in jail. This is after a woman from Atlanta testified, properly identifying R. Kelly and his teenage courterpart as being in the video AFTER she also participated in a threesome with the young girl and R. Kelly. However, her crediability has been damaged after she admitted to having once stole Kelly’s $20,000 watch from a hotel, where she had been staying since she quit her job in Atlanta to be with him.

Hmm… I wonder if Kells is going to write a soap about this drama…..

Well folks, it looks like Lil Wayne is about to put his foot in his mouth 100% as mix tape DJs are continuing to leak his album on purpose! You know, it’s really sad when 445K is the highest number of units sold when this time last 600K+ units sold was the highest number. That says a lot about this industry we support. Anyways, I’m not sure if I exactly have $13.99 to buy this CD but if it’s on sale at Target still for $9.99 I just might go buy it. Besides, I’m still bitter about the time I was about 13 and Usher was on a promo tour for his sophomore LP My Way. He was scheduled to make an appearance at a skating rink, which I freqented anyways, but I stood in line for about two hours in the middle of below zero temperatures… paid $40 to get in and his ass left after standing in the building for about 3 minutes SO YES BITCHES, I AM BITTER. Lol…. naw but for real, much love to Ursh for breaking that barrier… now he can give me back my $40 plus interest… (LOL).

Well I was apparently chosen and received a call from a man name Dave or David who said he worked with “A Popular Video Model Agency.” Dave and I conversed for like an hour about the video shoot (he was trying to convince me). He told me that there would be a lot of weed smoking, coke snorting, drinking, butt naked girls and sex on the set of the shoot because that’s how Hot rapper and his crew get down. Then Dave proceeded to tell me that all of the women at the shoot was down for having sex with Hot rapper’s and/or his crew. He asked me if I would be down with “f***ing” to keep a spot on the video and if I drank or smoked. He told me that the men on the set would treat me like a hoe so I should act like one. I told him that I didn’t feel as though I should have to f**k someone just to get in a video. He told me that women do it all the time and how do i think the Melyssa Fords, Buffie’s and Angel Lola’s got put on. [Editor’s note: this is NOT the way AllHipHop.com understands the previously mentioned models attained success.] I told him that I was not a roller and I don’t get down like that. He proceeded to do a scenario with me asking me what I would do if a seven foot man came up to me or if he came up to me (since he would be on the set) and said he wanted to see me after the shoot for some action. I told him I don’t get down like that. He then said that he thought it was odd that all the other models they chose were down for whatever and I wasn’t and since I seem like I’m not down (a hoe), he no longer thought I was a fit. I said I agree and hung up. I was completely shocked b/c it’s as though Hot rapper’s is recruiting pussy via the Internet now. That’s a damn shame. Guess that’s why he think’s he’s hot. Lame.”

While accusations are flying profusely about 50 torching his own home to ‘kill his baby mother’, speculations are beginning to surface if this is a repeat of 50’s childhood. As you all may recall, 50’s mother was drugged then burned in premeditated gas house fire. Could 50 be responsible for the fire of his Long Island home?

Although his baby mother has been relentless in seeking an increase in child support throughout the years, and has failed, why would 50 result to trying to kill her now? After all, this has been an ongoing court hearing battle for years. Could she have been bitter with the recent judge’s decision to deny the increase in child support, be upset from public embarrassment and humiliation, and have set the house on fire herself? With keeping in mind 50 is in location for a movie, how could he possibly have been in New York to set the house on fire and get back to Louisiana without being noticed? Perhaps he paid someone to do his dirty work. Even if he did, how could someone start that big of a fire without leaving the scene smelling like gasoline? It should be totally impossible for the fire to be a one man’s job. Investigators have since then revealed that there was a 5 gallon gas tank found near the house. Maybe they will be able to find some type of microscopic evidence with the gas can and perhaps they won’t. Furthermore, if someone had broken into the house as Shaniqua alleges then why hasn’t there been a police report brought forth? Normally when someone breaks into someone’s home, the person who lives there typically files a police report. But she didn’t file one (and if she did it hasn’t been revealed) and then an hour later her house goes up in flames and her five children barely escaped.

Since the fire, Shaniqua has been quoted as challenging 50’s parental skills by saying “tell him to call his son!” Maybe Shaniqua is utilizing this moment to expose 50, win the lawsuit, and get the judge to see that she needs more monthly revenue to live in an undisclosed location from his deranged father (used as a figure of speech).

What really had happened was…

I think Shaniqua got mad after the fight, called her estranged boyfriend or booty call over for some love and affection to ease her mind of the drama. Got some. Went to the bathroom dissatisfied, ran a bath, smoked a cigarette while playing Tweet’s “Smoking Cigarettes”, dranked some wine and had flash backs of Waiting to Exhale. Then, she went into her car, got her gas can, called herself setting some of 50s personal items on fire and ended up burning down the house. However, here’s the kicker: when she realized she couldn’t control the small fire, she ran to get her kids out of bed, called 911 and barely escaped.

Think about it. Why else was she awake at 5AM?

With pregnancies in the air all over Hollywood, there are a few highly anticipated births awaiting us in 2008. First it began with Halle Berry, then Jennifer Lopez, now it’s Jessica Alba, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle [TI’s Wifey], Jamie Lynn AND Brittney Spears amongst several other expecting mothers. Now, my first question is: What nut case decided to elope with Brittany Spears, but I had to realize who wouldn’t be silly enough to father Brittany’s baby when she’s obviously both rich and unstable. I don’t know world, but that should be a very interesting situation to critique considering Brittany doesn’t have custody for neither one of her children now. Speaking of Brittany, what’s going on with the side of her mouth? I don’t know about ya’ll but I saw an up-close shot of that – which looks like Herpes – and I was just curious to know if anybody saw that or not? Hey! Breaking news… New York (aka Tiffany Patterson) is also pregnant but the baby father is UNKNOWN – is that surprising? New York was undergoing the typical screenings for her hit reality show I Love New York 3 when discovered that she was pregnant. I wonder if Tailor Made is her baby daddy since he recently admitted that he was the ONLY PERSON on the show who actually had sex with her… I don’t know but that’s just gross.

Although this is yet another year that singer/song writer R. Kelly has not been convicted of his child pornography charges, he’s still the butt of all jokes as he recently missed court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. A spokesperson for Kellz simply stated he missed it because his tour bus was pulled over by the police. However, if this was true then why wasn’t he arrested for missing his court date? Although the girl is 19 years old now, the disgusting part of this is that she was 4 when they met. Now, I know I’m wrong for assuming this but if Kellz has a problem with touching young kids, why does he still have custody of his children? If he can sleep with this chick after he’s watched her grow up for 14 years, then who’s to say that he’s not sleeping or touching his kids? Hey! That’s just a thought because obviously this man is sick!

Speaking of non-selling singers, Ruben Studdard was dropped from J. Records for piss pour record sells on his 3^rd album as he only pushed over 233,000 copies! Curren$y finally left Young Money after realizing after FOUR YEARS his career was going nowhere with Weezy F. Baby. Same thing happened to KeKe Wyatt after two years. Just because yo’ boss is rich, don’t mean you will be too; Lil Wayne ain’t even learned this lesson for himself after being sued by a Miami jeweler for not paying his own damn bill. Karrine Steffans does not have a record deal, thank God! Besides, what would she rap about? Getting and giving head is kind of faded now but then again if she would do a complementary DVD she would have the best selling album and porn of all time which guarantees her some revenue because 4/5 people who’ve read this last book are asking for their money back.

REJECTED, Baby!

As if we care, Remy Ma’s request to travel was rejected by a New York judge. Apparently she’s hurting for cash because her lawyer fault tooth and nail for her to get the opportunity to travel overseas for a five day tour and the judge said “HELL TO THE NO”. And get this: the tour would have only given her $40,000. Remy Ma is also denying the lesbian allegations as well. If you ask me, I think they’re true, she’s oversaturated with masculinity (lol) but you didn’t ask me now did you? Ha! Change Your Baby’s Diaper! I’m not sure how many of you all are familiar with who Sandra Rose is but I recently saw her at an event and she definitely confirmed what I thought: she looks not exactly a pretty girl (if you know what I mean). I guess she got tired of everybody calling her a hater and blocked off her website to only “invited” readers but hey! It’s only so many times you can pick on everybody by picking out every little flaw they have before someone starts to call you a hater. I used to be a fan of hers truthfully and respectively until I realized she rarely had anything positive to say. I almost want to say that she and Ms. Jones would be BEST friends. They seem to have the same issues in life.

Baby Bye! Is it just me or does Mary J. Blige, Beyoncè, and Lil’ Wayne need to all take a vacation for at least a year or two because we’re being oversaturated with their longevity in the game. Now that my homie TI is bored on house arrest, I understand that he’s trying to keep himself busy and all with all these mix tapes and stuff, but why not just go outside to the pool and enjoy your vacation time boo. Now, don’t get me wrong: I LOVE SOME TI but some of the music I’ve heard has just been too concentrated. Why can’t these folks pull a Prince; do one album every seven years. We’d still love you, boo. Damn! Speaking of needing a break, although I like “Fly like me” by Chingy, does anyone else feels like he just needs to GIVE IT UP all together? And DMX has stayed too long on vacation because I’m not sure how I feel about him recording another album. Is that even news?Rev. Run’s son JoJo getting a record deal… FOR WHAT? We all know that’s happening on his father’s recognition.

YOU CANT CRY OVER SPOILED MILK! Although I’m not a fan of celebrity gossip, (lol) word on the streets is that Dr. Jan Adams is the doctor responsible for messing up both Lil’ Kim and Vivica A. Fox’s faces (lmao). How about we gain some self-esteem and quit wasting money on plastic surgery and then we wouldn’t be crying about foolishness like this!

In very sad news today, 58 year old Dr. Donda West, mother of Hip-Hop superstar Kanye West was pronounced dead last night in Los Angeles, CA. Although it is unknown as to what her exact cause of death is, Dr. West suffered from complications of a surgical procedure. Some sources say that it could have been because of plastic surgery. Although the family hasn’t released the exact cause of death, I wish to respect his family’s privacy by not disclosing that information until a late date.

Please keep his family in prayers.

Snitches: At first, MySpace.com was the biggest snitch in cases involving ghetto baby mama’s who play inspector gadget with their cheating boyfriend’s MySpace pages but now Sandra Rose is being a big time snitch in the whole TI investigation. Basically, she’s saying on her website that the judge supposedly read her blog about the TI situation, got upset, and refused to let him out of jail – or something to that effect – and that an angry representative from Atlantic Records called her to ask her to quit blogging about the investigation because she’s tampering with evidence. Something to that effect. I quote:

Last Friday, I received a call from an Atlantic records exec who informed me that T.I.’s lawyers were discussing amongst themselves the fact that the judge read my blog and was “very angry” by what he read. The exec indicated that the judge may have been angry enough to alter his decision to release T.I. on house arrest last Friday. The exec asked me to “be more sensitive” about what I wrote regarding T.I.I agreed to comply with the record exec’s request but later that same night I heard from two others in T.I.’s camp who said T.I.’s lawyers informed them that if T.I. isn’t released this coming Friday it will be my fault. As ridiculous as that may sound, I’m taking this reckless innuendo seriously. I decided to post this for two reasons a) because I want this on record just in case, and b) because some people have a hard time accepting the fact that T.I. – not bloggers or the media – is responsible for his current situation.I don’t believe for one minute that the judge reads Sandrarose.com. If I was T.I. I would be concerned about paying all that money to lawyers who would resort to these types of intimidation tactics. The attorneys need to be worried about their case and not about what some random blogger writes.

B*tches:Lil Wayne disses the kiddes in North Carolina by not showing up to a concert packed with 4,000 kids and then doesn’t even refund their money! I guess he needed it more than they did LOL. LOL And finally, will somebody tell Khia to shut the hell up! She makes a career off of hating on other people but now she’s taken it too far. She’s saying TI copied her by saying “do it” in “Big Shit Poppin’” because she was saying “I do it” in her song “Hater Walk”. WTF? It’s one thing to hate on Jacki-O, Trina, and even Lil’ Wayne but this cookie monster is just outta control this time around. Just stop! Solange was out with her son this weekend looking great!

Cornball @$$ mofos: Ludacris was spotted out this weekend with his new boo overseas. He was the opening act for Beyoncè’s concert in Ethiopia. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the annoying Gabrielle Union. YES! Former 106 & Park host Free was spotted out this weekend. I almost forgot who she was but good news for her, she’s been booked to host the Dirty Awards in Atlanta coming up in November – not really a BIG deal!

JUST WHY?Why in the hell do we BLACK PEOPLE have an award show called The Hoodie Awards? JUST WHY? And why do the cateogories consist of “The best chicken spot?” What the damn! Cheri Dennis is also trying to do something, again. Um. For???? Apparently Yung Joc & Gorilla Zoe are the new tag team. Why? I mean, I’ve interviewed them both and their cool peoples but the collaborations should have ended at The Coffee Shop. Diddy’s mama is still looking a plum fool so why she had the audacity to show up to her son’s women’s clothing line launching party looking a HOT ASS MESS I don’t know but she’s been embarrassing him for years… at some point in time, he’ll quit inviting her ass until she gets a REAL stylist. Hot damn! Nas is firing back to the critics (and Rev. Al Sharpton) for his new album called “NIGGER” – why? How many people use the word subconsciously on a day-to-day basis? If he wants to exhibit the word NIGGER and show why or why not is a nigger let ‘em do it. Like Mo’Nique say, “LOOK AT THAT NIGGER! He’s on top of the world!” Speaking of rap, why is Brittany Spears baby daddy’s ex-girlfriend and former first baby mama Shar Jackson trying to start up a rap career? Um. WHY! Fantasia – as known as big lips in the business – is ‘posed to be dating Young Dro. I’m sorry, I can’t hold it in LOL! Just why?! Lastly, Foxy Brown got some trashed called singles released. No me gusta!

RIP: You might have remembered her from Lyfe’s “S.E.X” – Yolanda “Lala” Brown was found dead in a Milwalkee studio with her boyfriend over the weekend. They had been shot and dead for over a day before they were found. She leaves a daughter behind.

Kanye’s rubbing off on 50! – Well, although we all predicted this significant movement in Hip-Hop (the Kanye outselling 50 cent movements), it seems as though 50 has adopted crybaby like tendencies since he sheerly embarrassed himself thoroughly! 50’s has been previously been reported (as told here) to be accusing Def Jam of buying more of Kanye’s albums – child please! – and that the sales were tampered with. Although Jay-Z appears on 50’s wack remix to “I get money”, President Carter has stated, “I couldn’t do the track until after the first week; don’t want to contaminate sales,” but he did say that it’s all friendly competition. Nonetheless, 50 is now conceding in a more appropriate way by saying this: “I am very excited to have participated in one of the biggest album release weeks in the last two years. Collectively, we have sold hundreds of thousands of units in our debut week. This marks a great movement for Hip Hop Music one that will go down in history.” All I gotta say is: Kanye pulled this win off by himself. As of Tuesday, Soundscan has reported Kanye as selling 957,000 copies his first week in comparison to 50’s piss pour 691,000 copies. I have to laugh, even TI sold more than that his first week (not saying that TIP is wack but what is 50 going to say next? I can outsell TI?) – but ya know… just curious.

Other mishaps and foolishness – Rumor has it that Jennifer Lopez is pregnant with twins after having some fertility problems, if so, this would be husband Marc Anthony’s fourth and fifth child whereas these would be J-Lo’s first babes. If true, good luck momma!

Just last week, actress Gabrielle Union – whom I find it excruciating hard to like her (from her roles on film – I know that’s just her day job but she is just something extra for me, maybe one day I’ll see her on Oprah and decide that I like her but for now, I can’t separate the real Gabby from the big screen Gabby) was linked to having a relationship with actress/rapper Ludacris has now been linked to Hill Harper. This could be very well a rumor as well but hey, I just report the big stories as they break!

Lastly, we all love, respect, and admire Ms. Aretha Franklin, but my question is: with all that money and legacy that she possesses, why isn’t she taking care of herself? I saw the pictures from Diddy’s launch of Unforgivable Woman, and Aretha is just looking all around bad. I’m not suggesting plastic surgery, but can’t she consider at least a weight lost program. She’s been looking unhealthy for years. I mean at least, I know she can consider a decent wig, and a make-up artist and stylist when she’s stepping out for a major event like that? I mean just damn!

Black History – Today, In Jena, Louisiana thousands of protestors march to fight the Jena 6. Everyone in Black America was asked to wear all black (including me) to support the six blacks affected by this despicable act in 2007. Nonetheless, several Hip-Hop figures are said to be in effect from TI, Lil Wayne, and Mos Def – of course including Rev. Al Sharpton and other civil rights leaders. In addition, he has canceled his tour – but nonetheless, the man is still talking shit… um… give it up! The people have spoken and he wasn’t heard. Point blank. Kanye is hotter. That shit rocks. Sadly, he’s blaming Def Jam with tampering with debut sales for “buying more Kanye albums”… um could it be that your shit sucks?! Every time I go to the store, I just look at Curtis and sigh. Sorry, I won’t pick up the album. I just can’t bring myself to it. Nonetheless, I did check it out on myspace and I ended up checking out one song in its entirety and that’s Ayo Technology. But hey! He can still be my boo…. Lol! Speaking of Good Music, ya’ll need to really check out that Common Finding Forever. That’s a really hot album and Chicago is definitely representing it for quality music. I must admit, if you’re not going to physically listen to the album, then this album is definitely not for you! In addition, Jada and Will were out and about representing their spicy love life at the premier for some new movie. They were definitely getting a little too close…so accept it, they ain’t leaving each other no time soon!

What the damn!? – I never knew another man would want another man’s balls but apparently, Marc Ecko spent $752,467 on Barry Bond’s 756^th baseball and has no idea with what he wants to do with it. That was just dumb! My question is – is it even autographed? Master P is teaching the kids about financial decisions and the importance of education. My question is: are you doing it out the kindness of your heart or are you doing it because you mismanaged your funds by grilling out every tooth in your mouth? Um…. Just asking… I’m sure he’s getting paid somewhere for that! Alicia Keys is caught by those paparazzi without makeup. Keyshia is NOT Beyonce. Keyshia DID NOT have the pleasure of growing up in a nurturing environment (so to speak) as Beyonce which would have enabled her to start early and get that advantage that Beyonce has had – that support is fundamental. Beyonce had parents who quit their damn jobs for their child’s dreams… and where was Keyshia’s mom. Exactly! As far as ya’ll hating on Keyshia’s looks… Keyshia has come a MIGHTY long way. She’s definitely not as ghetto looking as she was before, therefore I am proud of her… SISTER GIRL is doing the damn thing! I was proud of her at the NFL Kick Off and I am proud of her now, she’s showing us a different side of her and I like this side a whole helluva lot better than before. Additionally, Keyshia offers a more realistic perspective on relationships that the AVERAGE woman deals with without sugarcoating it…whereas Bee (and I do love me some Bee okay!) but Bee is signing with the silver spoon still in her mouth…. she has no ideal what it means to undergo hardship and she never will.

Mind you, I like 50, but I just feel like he’s not competition anymore considering that he’s watered his style down 100% while Kanye has increased his by 100%. Speaking of 50, Tony Yayo’s lawyer has obtained a witness who is willing to testify that he is innocent to the assault of the son of Jimmy Henchman. Bill O’Reilly is being hated again, this time by Nas as he stated publically to MTV that O’Reilly is a racist… um… this isn’t new but Nas will be performing at Virginia Tech! —Developing — Speaking of drama, Bob Marley’s family is suing Verizon & Universal Records Music group for selling Bob Marley ringtones… Again, Swiss is still mad about his poor record sales, this time saying “Talib sold more than me without a hit single,” – which proves my point!

HOT SH*T – T.I. and Ciara have a song called, “Goodbye, My dear”… I’m not sure how I feel about Ciara’s verse but ya’ll know I LOVE T.I. so of course I am loving his verse but unlike Nelly, TI does not have a musical voice or singing capabilities but it is a good try TIP just don’t do it EVER AGAIN! – Mya has a new video called “Ridin”.

AS IF YOU SHOULD CARE – Jay-Z told the press the other day that he and Beyoncè should be getting married soon. “sooner than later” he said actually… but I believe he did say that years ago and they’re still not married so…. We’ll see…

DRAMA IN PARADISE – DJ Drama speaks on Lil’ Wayne in an interview with HipHopDX.com here’s what he said…

HipHopDX: Speaking of Wayne, shortly after the raid, there was an interview with MTV News where he said that you and other mixtape DJs had to “smarten up,” “play the game fair,” and to look at DJ Clue and Khaled as examples. A lot of people looked at those comments as disrespectful; have you spoken to him since then?
DJ Drama: Yeah, it was fucked up. To be honest, he’s never really spoken to me about that, we’ve spoken about some other things. That’s a tough one, in a lot of ways. I’m going to say first and foremost, I respect Lil Wayne, and when it comes to that microphone and what he does in that booth, the boy’s a problem. He’s on top of his game, I will never take that from him. But when the raid happened, and he made those comments to MTV, it was a stab in my back. One, because, I just felt like if anything, that was a time I needed all the support that I could get. There’s no denying the impact that the mixtapes that I did had on where he’s at today. Everyone knows how big Dedication and Dedication 2 are, so I was real offended by that, I didn’t think it was a good move on his part. But on another note, Wayne had definitely come through for me on my album, so I can’t just write a nigga off like that, I’m not that type of dude. I had issues with that, as did a lot of people, because a lot of people knew the impact I had on his career, there’s no denying that. Lil Wayne was definitely here before me, but niggas will tell you that they ride more to Dedication 2 than the Carters. Especially in a situation where…loyalty’s a lot, man. And when Wayne had those problems with Gillie, I made a decision on my own based on the work that me and Wayne had did when the nigga was tearing his ass. And for someone to turn around when I was at my low point, and say, “You need to do it right like Khaled and Clue?” OK, that’s what’s up, dog.HipHopDX: What has it been like for you to see him blow up the way he has?
DJ Drama: Oh I love it. That’s the type of nigga I am; I do me. My team is my niggas, that’s who I talk to day to day. At the end of the day, I’m a fan of this music. So I can separate my friendships from what this music shit is. Lil Wayne is one of the hottest niggas out, and I would never take that from him. That’s what I was so excited to work with him in the first place. He’s got a banger on my album that’s fucking crazy. I don’t have bitter or ill feelings toward the man; he’s good at what he does, the same way I’m good at what I do. I’m a positive person, and I’m sure we can get past this, because just as the world would, I’d love to see a Dedication 3.

Polow Da Don: Oh definitely. It has nothing to do with me, these effects. I didn’t make this stuff up. Only thing where people got misled is that I said I prefer a White woman, and that’s not the case at all. Really, I date all types of women. It was a stage in my life when I started dating a lot of White women- that was just a stage in my life. Right now, I date girls I like. I don’t base it off of any shade or color when I meet a girl now. They linked my comments about the Black family and Black women with the “King of the White Girls” and [the fact that] I dated White girls. That’s where it all went wrong. So when I was comparing Black women to White women, that has zero to do with me dating White women. What I was saying was factual though. Ladies and gentlemen agreed, n****s and b******s got mad.

Whatever. Black people got mad. Not niggas and bitches… it’s not about what was said, it was how it was said, and furthermore, he continued to feed into those flipping stereotypes that white people are superior to Black people. What a sell out withcha Black Ass! Next thing you know, he’ll have the Michael Jackson syndrome – the “I ain’t really black” syndrome. Watch. I just feel like all he had to say in the first place that he had a preference for white women. He didn’t even have to try to “spit knowledge” by comparing and contrasting black women to white women. How does he know that his statements weren’t just um… defected by a bunch of buckethead girls and bad experiences? I don’t care what he says, he’s still black, his mama still black, and his babies still going to be black. He better learn how to respect black women- the other 50% of the black community. Busta.

Why this was even newsworthy, I don’t know but Allen Iverson’s step dad was indicted on drug charges in Virginia. Woooooo. Next week, they’ll be saying, AI has been pumpin’ drugs. Next month, he’ll be in rehabilitation. You know how the news world goes…. Lol…

On top of the charts this week is Talib Kweli and Swiss Beats… Not #1 but they’re in the top 10. Good ish.

Poor Foxy, she’s been isolated from everyone and has been rejected for early release. This is bad, not for fox, but for her weave because inmates surrounding her cell has said that all she does is read the bible and complain how terrible her weave looks as it’s falling apart. When not doing either or she’s asleep, must be the blues of pregnancy or bordem. Too bad she’ll be spending her birthday in the slammer.

Finally, we’ll all see how this all plays out. Lil’ Wayne has been sued for $1M dollars after a teen has accused Weezy F. Baby of being responsible for her being trampled at a concert but my opinion is – she should have just moved. That’s not $1M worth of damage. Sorry.

Anyways, another NFL player was charged with stabling a man outside of a Manhattan nightspot on Monday. Houston Rockets guard Rafer Alston was released without bail today after his arrest on Monday. Alston, 31, is out on felony charges after apparently cutting the man on his neck…. Ouch. Isn’t that attempted murder? Just asking!… besides, this is his 2^nd brush in with the law… he was held in contempt earlier this month for beating up somebody else… I think he definitely needs anger management classes to help resolve his issues. He’s definitely too old to be having a temper tandrum! Speaking of childlike acting individuals, Foxy Brown was denied early release from jail. Poor Foxy! (Whomp Whomp!) She’ll be spending the rest of her first trimester in jail. She won’t be elgible for release until her Sept. 7^th court date.
Speaking of women of rage, Remy Ma’s camp is reporting that her long time friend and associate (that was shot by Remy) is NOT on bedrest nor walking on a cain. The pictures are said to be on the net but, I’ve yet to see them.

Another NFL player abandoned his car after a car accident early Monday morning. Chicago Bears Lance Briggs said he panicked and reported his car stolen after the crash. First, he called a tow truck to remove his vehicle but then had a change of heart and contacted the police to report his behavior. It’s unclear if he hurt anyone or if he’ll face charges for filing a false police report.

Unfortunately, Luda is back on the XM airwaves. I’m sorry, but my mans needs to stick to acting since his credibility as an artist is taking an abrupt turn for LAME. Speaking of people that I wish would just have a fucking seat, Tupac’s mama has a movie coming out about her life… why?

In case you care, Wendy Williams is scheduled to release a film about her life in 2008. Robyn Givens will play the former crack head… (like in real life, Wendy was) – speaking of people on something, REMY MA finally dyed her damn bangs black! Thank you Jesus, HALLIJUAH! Somebody finally told home girl that shit was not cute…looking like a poodle!

Also, Solange Knowles finally got a publishing deal with EMI. In case you’re wondering why, she’s part writer of many DC3 songs and Beyonce hits such as “Upgrade U” and “Get me Bodied”. Good for Solange…. She’s finally getting her OWN shine.

I heard the new Alicia Keys single, “No one,” to be featured on her THIRD studio album. I’m not sure if I’m feeling it yet. Speaking of albums to be released, Young Joc’s Hustlenomics hits stores tomorrow… not sure if I want that yet either… I really don’t know how I feel about supporting Block Entertainment anymore after they had me waiting all day for an interview that they never had the decency to call and reschedule BUT THAT’S A DIFFERENT STORY! Speaking of music, the media attacks the song READ A BOOK… shoulda known good ol’ Jessie Jackson would have something to say about it. **Before I started writing for this site, I used to do a editorial/commentary on various things in the world of Hip-Hop, and I’d like to extend that column to this website where it is more fitting.

I know I am about to sound like a big feminist when I say this – then I’m going to sound like a racist, or better let be labeled the “angry black woman” but before you be so quick to judge hear me out.
Now, once before, I heard the rumors that Polow the Don didn’t like black girls…but you know, I just dismissed the allegations with saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion.
But when I read the article of him on AllHipHop.com and saw what he said about black women, I was immediately outraged. This is what he had to say:

AllHipHop.com: Now, you call yourself the “King of All White Girls.” Elaborate on that for me.

Polow Da Don: Just the “King of the White Girls.” I ain’t self proclaimed but I run with it. [Laughs] There was a stage in my life where I went crazy with dating white women. I have nothing against black women, but they’re raised differently. White women are raised to respect and serve their men. Black women are taught to question [their men]. Black women look at submission as being weak. White women look at submission as being a woman. And anyone who has a problem with this statement is ignorant. Just look at the divine order; it goes man, woman, child.

… um… excuse me? Ain’t yo momma black? Then, aren’t you black? Again, I know this racisim is about to kick into factor but please note that I am far from it. It just pisses me off as a BLACK person first and a BLACK woman secondly to hear other BLACK MEN speak down to us when it is the BLACK WOMAN who supports your BLACK @$$ and deals with your BLACK SH*T and can relate to you as in what it means to be BLACK. Don’t try to play me (or us) because WE as BLACK WOMEN have gotten sick of tolerating your bullsh*t. Obviously, he just wants a “yes ma’am” or a “jellyback” broad – meaning anyone who can’t stand up for themselves and defend themselves out of fear for being left alone.

Black women, I applaud you and respect your gangsta demeanor. Take a stand. Say a couple of “hell no’s!” and question your man. If he’s your man, then that’s your divine right to question him. Relationships are 50 -50, and I don’t know what pre-woman’s suffrage area he’s living in but BLACK WOMAN faught hard for the rights that his momma have, his grandmomma have, and great grandmomma have. Then to say, “White women look at submission as being a woman.” Child boo. Being a woman is handling her business on her own. Being a woman is raising a family by herself. Being a woman is not being afraid to challenge those who “think” they have power (even if it’s the black man). And before I piss anybody else off, let me say this: Being a woman is not eagle scopin’ a ballin’ @$$ dude, laying up with up, poppin’ out babies, stay with him for a few years, and living comfortably off of that divorce settlement she’s getting. (look at the history of interracial marriages in the world of entertainment in comparison to the history of solid racial marriages). From a personal perspective, this irritates me. How can you lay up with a woman that would sleep with you and then lie and say she was raped, watch you get lynched, and/or beat? Who was washing the blood off yo back, buddy? It damn sure wasn’t her white @$$….

I don’t know about you all and how you all stand, but when I see prosperous black men saying such negative things like this about black women, hell yeah, I get offended. And sadly, we’re the ones dancing to his beats up in the damn clubs. *Tisk* – he just lost one!

Recently, I had the opportunity to check out the Chicago wing of The Beyoncè Experience featuring R&B recording artist Robin Thicke. Initially, I was skeptical of how I would feel about the show knowing that the reviews for the show haven’t been so great by other gossip columnist. However, I must admit, neither Robin Thicke nor Beyoncè left the audience disappointed. Therefore, I have drawn the conclusion that such reporters are simply “Beyoncè haters” based upon their negative comments regarding the show.

As a frequent of her tours, I was not disappointed. Beyonce’s set was bright, colorful, and creatively put together. Although majority of her dance routines were recycled from past videos, they were still full of energy and represented a large variation of women from various ethnicity’s and nationalities. In addition, Beyoncè had several women of size dancing and singing on stage, which also gave them some representation in the concert in addition to the women with musical talents from overseas. Whereas before with her shows, there wasn’t a band, women of size in her show dancing and singing, furthermore the representation of women from all over to be able to share the spotlight almost equally with Beyonce herself. As always, during the costume changes, Beyoncè allowed the members of her Suga Mama band to receive recognition for their exceptional talents by allowing them all to create or perform a musical piece and to connect with the audience. Once again, the audience was able to see the variety of women who were selected to be in this band; it wasn’t all African American women or all American women. There were women from all over the world in that band who were talented and had the ability to play all types of music from classical to contemporary music. In addition, Beyoncè also allowed her dancers to have their dancing abilities displayed as well as her male dancers danced creatively to contemporary hits such as Throw Some D’s Aye Bay Bay, and other recent hits.

Performance wise, Beyoncè was exceptional. Her ability to dance, sing, and still entertain the audience while making that connection with the audience was keen. Perhaps this ability extends from years of training to be a super star, but each and every year it seems that Beyoncè is able to strengthen this ability into becoming a legendary performer. Her energy was beyond outstanding; her voice was strong and well rested. Most importantly, Beyonce’s singing abilities were displayed as she sang over exceptional artist’s songs such as Jill Scott’s, She Loves Me”. As a fan and spectator, I was simply amazed at her ability to sound excellent at singing Another artist record and still lure the audience into feeling her as if it were her own material. Throughout the entire two hours (or so) that she was on stage, the audience stood on their feet, danced in the isles, scream, cheered, waved, and singed along.

As far as the costume and wardrobe is concerned, once again, Beyoncè upgraded her show. Whereas before it were simple costume changes or outfits, this time the wardrobe was a little more flashy, exquisite, and luxurious. She was full of sparkles, shimmer, and shingles. Her makeup was flawless, her hair was cute, and she simply looked fabulous. Overall, the complete concert was a smash. It was beyond exceptional, and it was all worth the wait.
