I definitely agree with you that Rick Ross is not coming from a place homage. Diddy is giving him that confidence and Rick betta watch out because Diddy has a tendency to drop niggaz like he neva knew them when they fall off. he has some skills as a song writer, refined while writing material for trina. he also has a distinct big voice which is being used in a way that generates interest.

almost all rappers are entertaining and not telling the truth, rr being the most obvious example. over time he’s getting schooled on how to act and how not to stick his foot in his mouth anymore. with his backing he’s probably going pretty far.
