When Hip Hop isn't bring it on the commercial side, you can always depend on battle rap to bring the real, here's yet another rap battle from URLTV event, this one is of Math Hoffa vs. John John Da Don. The past few battles from this event have been on the snooze side but this one is bit more interesting. That being said last year is still holding the crown as one of the best rap battle years ever with battles like JC vs Chilla Jones, John John Da Don vs Hit Man Holla and of course the legendary Loaded Lux vs Calicoe battle.

Here's the first battle of 2013 presented by SMACK / URLTV, this one is Yung Ill vs. JC. I think JC took this one but it was a close battle, JC's rhymes and delivery was more coherent overall. Allot people say they're allot alike but I never saw it, Yung Ill had a great 3rd round, JC had a great 2nd. It all comes down to who you think took the first round.

Here's a dope new battle to start your Friday off right, it's Atlanta's Syah Boy vs New Jersey's Lotta Zay. This is the first battle I've seen from Syah Boy since he lost on 106 & Park, hard to believe it's the same guy. He doesn't rap like your average ATL rapper, sounds very much like a east coast rapper. Check the battle out.

Here's the latest battle released from Summer Madness 2 event, it's T-Rex vs Ayeverb. The battle was hosted by Diddy who in the second round up the stakes by throwing in an additional $10,000 to the winner. It was pretty much a one sided battle and T-Rex had home court advantage, but even without that T-Rex was much more effective than Ayeverb who wasn't very coherent with all his rhymes. Rex was in rare form, and in much better shape than he was last year.

Epic Rap Battle: JC vs Chilla Jones

One of the best battle from Summer Madness wasn't even on the Main card, this battle was one of the best I've seen in years. They were equally matched, no fillers and back to back punchlines, metaphors and even some double entendres. Pay attention or you might miss something. Two very different styles but they match up perfectly. This line though:

"the TOTAL B2KS we handle MAXWELL and clap heat/ so when CIARA round, what I'm aiming AALIYAH BABYFACE on the BLACKSTREET"

Beast, but there's dozen more venomous lines in the Face off.

I guess he really did choke in the Loaded Lux vs Calicoe battle, I was really thinking it was staged but it wasn't. Above Loaded lays down the the 2nd verse that eluded him at the main event. It was just as brilliant as the other 2 verses and if he had laid this one down as well, the victory would have been by a even bigger margin. If you haven't seen that battle yet, go check it out. He didn't even need the second verse.

Loaded Lux vs. Calicoe at Smack/URL: Summer Madness 2. This is the battle that people have been waiting for and boy did this battle deliver. There was some doubt that Loaded Lux was going to get bodied but he completely obliterated in this battle even though he choked a little in round 1. But what your looking at in this battle is two different levels of intellect when it comes to lyrics. Calicoe does gun bars and gangster lyrics with the best of them in battling and that's cool. Loaded Lux is a different caliber, he's not a battle rapper, he's a rapper that loves to battle. The lyrics are so methodical and well thought out, he's not reaching for the low hanging fruit trying to get laughs from a every punchline or every bar. He sets up his opponents with long detailed plots and even story lines and makes the audience follow every word and once he has everyone listener's attention, that's when drops the bomb on you. And it blows your mind. Quite few celebrities were in attendance, Diddy, Busta Rhymes who was going crazy over Lux's bars, Lloyd Banks, Q-Ti, Nipsey Hussle and more hit the show.
