Diggy Simmons – Fall Down (feat Victoria Monet) (J. Cole Diss)

Oh snap, shots fired again. After J. Cole took some subliminal jabs at Diggy Simmons at Kendrick Lamar's show Live in North Carolina. Just when you thought these two were cool after original diss from Diggy titled "What You Say To Me" which was in response to "Grew Up Fast" by and "Purple Rain" on which J. Cole Mentioned Diggy and allegedly his sister Vanessa Simmons. Bars from Grew Up Fast:

Move along cock-sucker, ain’t got nothing to see, ‘less you talking blockbuster, you niggas in not Russell You more Diggy, Me, I’m more Biggie No diss to the young boy, I’m just rapping, get bored quickly

Diggy wasn't happy with that line even though Cole said he wasn't dissing, plus he was mad that J. Cole subliminally rapped about a sexual relationship with his sister Vanessa on his track ‘Purple Rain’:

“The other day I was listening to Purple Rain, couldn’t believe all of the things that I heard em say Who dat, who dat, you know who it is,heard you lying on my sis, tellin people that you hit when your album drops I’ma hit you with your bricks, so I’ma bomb first on you since you wanna riff who you gonna call, you ain’t got no friends, this fight is fixed, you ain’t got no wins, little nigga named Cole think he live like me, jet setter trend setter, yeah you not like me can’t find a girl that you know that do not like me, can’t find a girl I know, who know you, you dumb fool wasn’t even poppin’ in the school you used to go to.”

I never realized how crazy J. Cole's verse was when I first heard it back in 2010 that subliminally painted Vanessa Simmons as a freak in the sheets:

“Good girl huh, father was a preacher sent her off to college thought I got her on a leash though from the outside though, them girls be the squeakiest you get ‘em inside them girls be the freakiest mischievous, downright devious say she want cake I got all the right ingredients running round fronting like a pure white virgin gave a n-gga dome while her father gave a Sermon Amen, let the choir sing she be walking round campus like the quiet thing so n-ggas scared to approach when they admiring man if they know like I know she got that fire thing pour a little OJ with some P-trone I’m feeling ok, but homie she’s gone when remmy Rev called she just ignore him I had her calling on God till the weed and than I hit the door n-gga”

Adding insult to injury, there was also this line from Grew Up Fast:

What Up Vanessa, I loved you that one semester

It's rumored that J. Cole met Vanessa Simmons while attending St. Johns University, both majored in Communications. Ironically no one was even thinking about Vanessa (as in Run’s daughter) until Diggy blew up her spot....smh. Now when I look back at the verse I'm like whoa!

The list for XXL's 2011 Freshmen Class is here and includes Diggy Simmons, Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, Big K.R.I.T., CyHi Da Prynce, Lil Twist, Yelawolf, Fred The Godson, Mac Miller, YG and Lil B. Personally I really only fux with 3 cats on this list, I've been saying Meek Mill was going to be something ever since 2005 when I first saw him on YouTube back when those street DVDs were all over the place, fast forward 5 years later he's now the biggest new cat to come out of Philly and just signed a record deal with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group. Fred The Godson is fresh and it's been a while since I've heard well put together punchlines and metaphors from a new rapper not since early Banks and Loso. Yelowolf stood out to me from the first time I heard him spit and is really the first white rapper since Eminem that I count as lyrical which is why him signing with Shady records makes so much sense. I can't wait to hear collaborations with him and Eminem as well as Slaughterhouse. Mac Miller and Diggy Simmons stand out as well but they're not necessarily my cut tea, so I'm not really checking for them. Just like 2010 it's gonna be a good year for Hip Hop again, thoughts on this years picks?

Sitting down with MTV, Diggy Simmons Talks Working With DJ Premier For 'Past Presents Future' Mix-tape, Interview here.

“With ‘Shook Ones,’ me and my dude Rasheed just really strategized everything music-wise,” Diggy said. “We’re tight, everything we think about [is] on the same mindset. We had the idea of doing the Past Presents Future mixtape and we decided to go with ’90s and ’80s classic beats to [rhyme] over and some of them are flipped. The mixtape is gonna be hosted by the legendary DJ Premier.”

Diggy wouldn’t speak much on what Premier was doing on the mixtape, but he spoke of how they both met. “DJ Premier, we met when I did the cipher for the BET [Hip-Hop Awards], he was the DJ behind all those [performances] and I did that with my brother and my dad,” Diggy recalled. “From there my people and him linked up and it was just easy. Then I saw him at the BET Hip-Hop Awards and he’s been real supportive of me so he was down from the jump start. He’s even in the ‘Shook Ones’ video behind the boards while I’m doing my studio scene. - DJ Premier blog
