Nas has been in Nicki Minaj's shoes in the past. Back at the 2001 Summer Jam festival, Nas had his own beef going on with Hot 97 because of his then beef with fellow lyricist Jay-Z. This time around, he was a spectator of a new school beef, and he spoke up about the current situation between Nicki Minaj vs Hot 97 at the 2012 Summer Jam festival.

Nas spoke to Rap-Up.com about the entire issue but remained respectful and neutral to both parties. Nas knows very well how it feels to be a part of beef in the hip-hop realm, and now that he has matured over the years, he honestly feels as though everyone should just put their differences behind them and unify, despite what camp they might represent.

Here's what Nas had to say: "I've been there before and things like that happen every couple of years. I guess this is the second time something has happened like that between the artist and the radio station. We don't always agree and the nature of hip-hop can be aggressive and get real gangsta on you now and then. That's just what it is.

These things happen. "YMCMB's situation was different than mine and I'm not clear on all of it, but of course when it happened with me years ago, it was based on the Jay-Z drama and a whole bunch of other stuff. Her situation is based on something different between her and her camp. Eventually I got cool with Hot 97 and they got cool with me.

It's one hip-hop family, and that's how it should be at the end of the day. "I think it was just really messy. When you're in the heat of that moment, no one has time to inform anybody, but we (Nicki and I) spoke after briefly and it seemed like it was a crazy situation for her to handle. When put in that position, it's no easy thing and I guess I was in support of her, in support of Hot 97. I've been there before, so at the end of the day, it could be fixed. It's one hip-hop family, let's unify it."

Nicki Minaj and Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex finally squared off in a heated exchange on the air following Minaj's abrupt cancellation of her appearance at Summer Jam this weekend.

Nicki pulled out her show after Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg dissed her music onstage during the concert prior to her scheduled appearance.

After Flex publicly sided with Rosenberg and vowed to 'destroy' Minaj's career, she appeared on his radio show to set the record straight. Here are some blurbs from the heated interview.

Nicki:"My fans at Summer Jam didn't appreciate his comments, nor did my fans watching the live stream appreciate those comments. This wasn't just about the 2000 people there. This was being live streamed to the world."

Flex: "I get it. Maybe that wasn't the best time to make that comment before you touch the stage. But that is what Rosenberg said and that's his opinion."

Nicki: "It's not about his opinion. I have opinions about DJs about Hot 97 and Hot 97. But I would never come on your stage about your fans before. I've traveled all around the world and people come with 1 agenda--and that's to have a good time. Not to have their favorite artist be ridiculed.

When you invite someone to their home you treat them with respect." "I am not a quitter. I don't back down from anything--including when people talk about me. Wayne gave me a valuable lesson last night about knowing their worth. After that disrespect, after a man goes on stage and disrespects me and calls my music bullsh*t and says this isn't real hip hop--I still was going on stage. SHAME ON ME. Wayne Tweeted before he called me and said Nic, we not doing that."

Flex: "I believe the show should have happened...Why couldn't you go against him and touch the stage?"

Nicki: "I don't go against the president of my label. before I had you or radio, I had Wayne. When Wayne says we as a Team ain't going on that stage, then I'm not going on that stage. I stand behind his decision. Because as a woman, it doesn't matter what people say about you, but when you put in work--I put in my work--those jokes shouldn't have been said…..Why aren't you addressing Wayne?"

Flex: "You always were independent and used to come up to the stations years ago. I've never known you to be a person to move under Lil Wayne. Why couldn't we resolve this from 4p when this first started to 9p--in 5 hours? That's the first time we've ever talked and Wayne over ruled you."

Nicki: "For [Rosenberg] to single out the only female on the bill? That was some b*tch a** sh*t. If you a man, then go up there and talk about a man. If all you do is take shots at women. First of all you don't know me." "I'm not saying you went at me because I was a woman, I'm saying you shouldn't have dissed me BECAUSE I'm a woman. I'm the only female representing on the Summer Jam Stage. You don't see the big difference?" "Do you know where I've performed at? Where I used to perform 4 nights a week. I had 200 people rolling with me. There isn't a b*tch alive who God has created on this earth who could scare me out of performing. I get money!"

The post Nicki Minaj & Funkmaster Flex Square Off, “I Don’t Back Down From Anything” appeared first on iHipHopMusic.

Nicki Minaj is still sharing her side of the story regarding her Hot 97 Summer Jam cancellation. Now, the Young Money superstar is addressing rumors that she planned to stage a mock Lil Kim funeral at the show.

Kim tweeted about Minaj planning to bring veteran femcee (and former Kim rival) Foxy Brown onstage and accused Nicki of copying a similar performance recently where Kim brought out Eve and Missy.

"I reached out to her a few months ago […] [Foxy Brown] has always been a part of my line up and I’ve known I was doing summer Jam for maybe a year now, so people are very crazy to think that this is something that I just decided to do," Nicki told The Breakfast Club.

"I’ve just always really loved her. I’ve always made it known how much I loved her and Lauryn Hill, and so when she found out about the drama, I thought she was going to be disappointed but instead she called me and was like ‘Yo Nick, I am riding with you, we are all here and were not leaving this hotel, we support your decision”, and that was how we all went out.

Everyone came out to dinner with me that night and everyone supported the decision. Everyone was like. ‘Yo, Wayne was completely right and we made the right move.’" Nicki wouldn't even let DJ Envy ask her about the mock funeral rumors.

"I don’t even want you to finish that sentence because that’s not in my character and that’s ridiculous," Nicki stated. "Lets stop with all the rumors that are giving people false hope that they are relevant please. I’m not about to bring death on my stage, my stage is about life and love and that’s it, PERIOD.

It was about us bigging up each other, myself and Foxy. No one, who is irrelevant was going to be made relevant on my stage."

The post Nicki Minaj Addresses Lil Kim Rumors, “That’s Not In My Character & That’s Ridiculous” appeared first on iHipHopMusic.
