The Weeknd Finally Decides To Go Major, Inks a Deal With Universal Republic

Posted on September 12, 2012

Over the past 2 years The Weeknd has put out some impressive mixtapes, first it was Thursday, then House Of Balloons followed by Echoes Of Silence to end off the trilogy.

In between that were also some notable unofficial tapes as well, which included OVOXOBalloons Of Haus, and Live For This (Coachella).

All of this created a buzz we haven't seen for a R&B singer in quite some time, he has been performing and selling out shows since then and all without a major deal or a debut album.

Now all of that is about to change.

Yesterday The Wekend and his imprint XO announced a joint venture with Universal Music subsidiary Republic Records.

The Toronto native has plans to release a trilogy package on November 13th which will contain “House of Balloons” “Thursday” and “Echoes of Silence” remastered along with 3 new bonus tracks to be included.

To prepare for the trilogy release, The Weeknd has plans to release his first single off the project titled “Wicked Games” on iTunes soon.

Congrats to The Weeknd, it's well deserved.
