Man I remember when the Yeezus album came out last year, Kanye West caught some much flack for this project from the purist, I even did a video review of it with Dead End Hip Hop in which I was the only one supporting it. 9 months later, after going platinum and an historical tour, folks have changed their tunes some what.
But it's not over yet, on top of that news has now surfaced that the album will be getting a film treatment from “American Psycho“ author Bret Easton Ellis.
Kanye isn't new to the film making scene, especially when it comes to his own projects. He worked on short films before including “Runaway” and “Cruel Summer,” leading up to and after those albums released.
In a statement Ellis said he initially denied Kanye's request to direct the film, but changed his mind after listening to an advanced copy of Yeezus.
“It’s in Kanye-land and that’s subject to a whole other timeframe. He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to Yeezus. It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So f**k it, I said yes. And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.”
Beyond this statement, there is no scheduled release date for this film.
Is the Yeezus film something you'd want to see?
