J. Cole – Fire Squad

Artist: J. Cole
Song: Fire Squad
Album: 2014 Forest Hills Drive

Last year I did a collaboration review with Dead End Hip Hop of J. Cole's previous album Born Sinner, my overall assessment was that he wasn't rapping like the guy that wanted to lead, but instead just someone who was content with just being in the game, his content was very neutral.

That no longer appears to be the case, listening to his new music from his upcoming album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Cole World is clearly in a different mind state.

Check out a few of the lines from this new track “Fire Squad.”

“History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes, Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows/ Same thing that my ni**a Elvis did with rock ‘n’ roll/ Justin Timberlake, Eminem and then Macklemore.”

“While silly ni**a argue over who gon’ snatch the crown/ Look around my ni**a, white people have snatched the sound, This year I’ll probably go to the awards dappered down/ Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”

I'm looking forward to the release of 2014 Forest Hills Drive, which will be in stores this Tuesday.
